Manchester United travel to Barnsley today with the hope of getting a result which will help put
the disappointment of the weekend behind us.
Of course, we won't be seeing the same line-up who started at Anfield but with strong
competition for places in the squad, the team won't be made up or just youngsters.

Manchester United take on Barnsley in the fourth round of the Carling Cup which on paper is one
of the easier draws of the round, given the several Premiership pairings to be played tonight and
tomorrow.
Still, United are no strangers to cup upsets and were even knocked out of the FA Cup by Barnsley
in the 97-98 season.

Manchester United face Barnsley away in the next round of the League Cup, which is good news for
all of us who have been dragged in to the automatic cup scheme in order to apply for away
tickets!
United last faced Barnsley in the 97-98 season, where we thrashed them 7-0 in the league, thanks
to goals from Cole, Giggs, Scholes and Poborsky, but then were knocked out of the FA Cup by
them.

Sir Alex Ferguson is full of praise for Wolves ahead of our League Cup fixture at Old Trafford
this evening.
"More recently I used to be a regular visitor to Molineux because my son Darren played there
for four years, and I would go down to watch him whenever I wasn't involved with Manchester
United," said Ferguson.

Our Carling Cup games have involved more experienced players than our FA Cup semi-final against
Everton this weekend. Federico Macheda, Danny Welbeck, Rafael, Fabio, Darron Gibson all starting,
as well as Ben Foster. Out of the first XI players, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic were the only
usual first choice players.

The man who scored the decisive penalty for Everton yesterday should have been given his
marching orders for a foul on Danny Welbeck towards the end of the game.
Phil Jagielka has today confessed that he was lucky Mike Riley chose to ignore Manchester
United's penalty claims when Welbeck was brought down.

Two trips to Wembley. Two stonewall penalty called turned away. In the League Cup final this
year Cristiano Ronaldo was fouled in the area and booked for diving. In the FA Cup semi-final,
Welbeck had beaten the keeper and was brought down by Jagielka and nothing was given.
I wonder how much longer the myth that United get all the decisions will continue.

If United beat Everton tomorrow, who would you most like to see us face in the final?
I personally would prefer Chelsea to win (I feel all dirty inside. I've cheered them on TWICE
this week!) as I would rather not face Arsenal four times in the last month of the season. There's
always the fear we'll win and lose the wrong games (for example, beat them in the CL, only to lose
to Barca in the final, whilst losing to Arsenal in the league then losing out on the title!

Sir Alex Ferguson has today conceded that he will be unable to play his strongest team in our FA
Cup semi-final against Everton tomorrow, particularly following the injury of Wayne Rooney.
Whilst of course the FA Cup semi-final is a massive game, with everything still to play for in
the league and Champions League semis on the way, Ferguson has to have his priorities.

One of our players would have to get his legs broken in the box to get a penalty from Mike Riley
this weekend, following David Moyes' suggestion that he's a Manchester United fan.
Much is made of the stats concerning how many penalties Riley has awarded at Old Trafford.
Nobody tends to look at the fairness of those decisions though.

As a child playing in the Youth Cup for Everton, Wayne Rooney showed a "once a blue, always a
blue" shirt, proclaiming his love for his boyhood club.
As he became a young man and the relationship with the Everton manager broke down, Rooney was
offered the opportunity to play for Manchester United, which he of course took.

No longer do we get to travel to Villa Park to see our team in the FA Cup semi-finals, rather make
the trek down to London to watch the match at Wembley. Not only does this spoil the excitement and
magic of having the final held at the same venue as the semis, but it's [...]

Louis Saha scored the winning goal against Middlesbrough at the weekend, taking Everton through to
the semi-finals of the FA Cup. I was listening to BBC 606, waiting for the draw, when an Everton
fan rang in singing the praises of Saha. "If we can just keep him fit for 90 minutes
then..." but he was [.

If I was to assume that Arsenal were going to beat Hull, there would have been plenty of positives
about any of the teams we could have been drawn against. We knocked Arsenal out of the Cup with a
4-0 victory last season and I'd fancy us to beat them again. Whilst Chelsea are on [...]

Well that was almost the perfect evening. Through to the next round of the Cup, won 4-0, managed to
rest several players, and played the second half almost at walking pace in preparation to our
massive week ahead, playing Inter Milan and Liverpool. The only downside of course are the injuries
to Rio Ferdinand and [.

After Manchester United goalkeeping coach, Tony Coton, was forced in to early retirement, RoM broke
news that Eric Steele was likely to be his replacement, pinched from under the noses of Blackburn
Rovers. Sure enough, he was the man for the job and Ben Foster, who saved one of Spurs' penalties
this afternoon, has revealed how [.

Ryan Giggs was the first penalty taker in this afternoon's League Cup final win against Tottenahm
Hotspur. Just as he did in Moscow, Giggsy put away his penalty to help us go on to lift the trophy.
After the match, our veteran spoke to the press about the effect Sir Alex Ferguson has on the
players, claiming [.

On a hangover, there aren't many things that will get me to wake and keep me awake, but I surprised
myself as much as anyone else when upon my eyes opening at 8am I had that excited feeling. You

I want us to win tomorrow. I want us to lift as many trophies as we possibly can this season. I
want the younger players in our squad to get a taste of success like they did in 2006, following
the barren year of 2005. I want Tevez to score. I want Welbeck to score. [...]

League Cup Round 3 - 23.9.08 Pogatetz's thuggery will probably be better remembered by United fans

Back in the 90's, oh the Worthless Cup, as us arrogant United fans used to call it. It was a
competition for us to play our kids, give them a bit of experience, but nothing more than that.
We'd won it in 1992 but that was before our proper trophy haul had begun. It's not [...]

Harry Redknapp's teams have lost to United twice already this season, with United knocking Spurs
out of the FA Cup as well as beating Portsmouth away from home, but apparently there is a belief in
the Spurs' camp than Redknapp has what it takes to get a win against United on Sunday. "The
manager has been [.
