The news doing the rounds over the weekend involved the reported interest shown by Liverpool in
our top notch striker Eduardo and for some reason the miserly sum of £10m was repeatedly
mentioned, which is probably only sufficient to purchase one of his legs and not the rest of his
body.

Man United defender
Rio Ferdinand hasn't had the best start to the season. He has
either been injured or he hasn't been in his best form.
Other rumours have been that one of Ferdinand's legs is shorter than the other, which is why he has
been suffering from back problems.

A lot of understandably miffed punters doing the rounds this weekend; message boards, phone-ins
and blogospheres crammed to the skylights with Spurs fans giving their two cents on what was
ultimately a dismal fist at beating our insufferable neighbours. Some, while still dousing their
grazes in TCP, willing enough to put the result into context and move forward; others more likely
to dance the fandango of doom, goat's blood smeared across their forehead, wailing until Harry
Redknapp's hide is sent packing back to Sandbanks.

It may just be another vicious rumour doing the rounds, however there are a lot or murmurings
that a handful of Premiership teams are interested in signing Carlos Puyol from Barcelona.
Although Puyol is the captain and his commitment can never be denied when he pulls on a
Barcelona shirt, there have been rumours for t a while that the Barcelona management would rather
leave the player out of the team because he doesn't necessarily fit within the team.

Another blank weekend with no Premier League action until the 17th but as is normally the case
with Spurs, there is still plenty of off field drama to keep us ‘entertained' for want of a
better word.
The current intelligence doing the rounds is that Harry was questioned by the fuzz for four
hours on Tuesday and bailed until the 21st.

by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger's football education has its origins in studying ale-addled
Frenchies discussing their woes in his parents' boozer. That's the top tale doing the rounds in
this morning's papers along with AW revealing that he has no plans to retire. Thank God (Dennis
Bergkamp).

The last twenty minutes against Man City at the Eastlands was a terrible repeat episode of what we
perhaps had too quickly thought was last season's weaknesses. Whilst I strongly applaud the
sensible comments that are doing the rounds on the decent blogs this Sunday, there is no escaping
the fact that shipping 4 goals against Man City is a shite result, albeit coming from a performance
that was

So the loan window is open for business and rumours are rife with who Gareth Southgate may bring
in to strengthen his Boro squad. Southgate has confirmed that he is looking at players and has said
there is a good chance at least one player could be added before Saturday's visit of Ipswich
Town.
Southgate told mfc.

So Afonso Alves joins the departed list as Boro's record signing decided to follow the money to
Qatar and Al Sadd. Expectations were raised, even if only slightly, that the Brazilian may be the
one to spearhead Middlesbrough's Championship challenge when he remained a Boro player at the close
of the transfer window.

Some familiar faces that we may not see at World Cup 2010.Domenech's French side came up with
another dismal display resulting in a 1-1 draw against Romania at the Stade de France on Saturday.
Thierry Henry might be another familiar face gone missing from the World Cup next year unless
France come up with some missing magic.

"Adebayor, Adebayor, your dad washes elephants, your mum is a whore!" the Spurs fans chanted,
racially abusing the former Arsenal player when he was still playing for their rivals.
Sections of our crowd seemed to like this chant, maybe because they're simple folk and enjoy
things that rhyme, leading to it being sung inside Old Trafford - never in great numbers or at a
great volume, but I've heard it.

THERE seems to be a quiet lull on the western front, a bit curious considering the Glory face
Central Coast on Friday night - just a couple of days away.
But getting straight into the scraps of the Glory barrel today - the first bit of news comes from
the good folk at AAP.

Sir Alex Ferguson has made a few things clear about his plans for our central midfielders today,
and it answered some questions (and debunked some rumours doing the rounds lately).
When asked about Carrick and Anderson, he said, "there are no issues at all."
"Michael wasn't involved against Birmingham or Wigan because we played Burnley on the Wednesday
and it was a chance to freshen up.

With a week until the transfer window closes, some fairly bizarre rumours have been doing the
rounds.
First, it was claimed that Michael Carrick was on his way back to Tottenham Hotspur with Luka
Modric coming in the other direction. The Spurs fans seemed to fancy it but could see that it was
tabloid nonsense, originated from the fact Carrick had been rotated and Harry Redknapp confessed
Ferguson was a fan of Modric.

Does it make good business sense for Celtic to sell two of the elite players in the SPL to
Spurs?
There have been several stories doing the rounds this summer regarding Spurs and Celtic players
Scott Brown and Aiden McGeady. With a 20 million pound price tag on the SPL duo it sure would make
sense for the Mowbray to part company with his young midfield duo.

1. The Republik of Mancunia interviewed Rob Smyth. Smyth, of course, is a freelancer who also
writes for the Guardian. He's a United fan, and regular readers will recall our interview
with him last year (you can read that here.) I like Smyth's willingness to speak his mind on issues
concerning United and football in general.

Arsenal's pre-season campaign has shown some promise but it is very much a work in progress as
there is a need for greater understanding of one's role if the team wants to perfect it's fluid
style.

As already seen with Eduardo, when a player returns from a long term injury, it is inevitable
that they will soon be struck down by muscular problems. Today, it was confirmed that Rosicky has
the predictable groin strain, which will keep him out for a few weeks.
And by a few, I mean an unknown amount.

RAFA BENITEZ will use the money from the Xabi Alonso deal to bid for Spain striker David
Villa.
Midfielder Alonso is expected to seal a £30million move to Real Madrid today and Liverpool boss
Benitez aims to pair Villa with current Kop frontman Fernando Torres in the double act that has
been so deadly for the Euro 2008 champions.

One of the main stories doing the rounds is a £30m bid; yes read it again a £30m bid for
Roma's central midfielder Daniele di Rossi.
Where did all this speculation come from? Well a couple of days ago an eagle eye blogger
www.gunners4life.com spotted that Daniele di Rossi was being shown as an Arsenal player on
Wikipedia.

MCFC got themselves involved in a mud-slinging battle with football fans when they paid
thousands of pounds in an attempt to wind us reds up. For me, it's totally bizarre that a football
club would lower themselves to such petty behaviour. Had a City fan got out the sky blue paint and
had a go at this, it would probably bring about a wry smile, but fancy a football club sanctioning
such a thing!

If you ever thought that Adebayor was greedy, well the stories doing the rounds today is that
Adebayor is not delaying his move to Manchester City because of his concern over the wages he will
be earning. He is not delaying the move in the hope that AC Milan or another blind manager will
come and fork out £25 million for him.

Chelsea have dismissed all claims of John Terry's alleged move to Manchester city. After news of a
