With Tax-dodge McGurk back on the bench after a week in Southwark crown court, a single
against-the-run-of-play 25-yard pinger from Rafael van der Vaart saw Tottenham into the Fifth round
proper at Vicarage Road last night, despite coming in for an absolute shelling from Watford during
the second-half.
Wandering around Holborn this lunchtime I found myself in Waterstone's and browsing the entire
shop. I will be 36 tomorrow and had decided to treat myself to something.
Trouble was I didn't know what. Looking over the fiction shelves was merely a reminder of how
many books I already have but have not yet read.

Finally, a late goal goes in our favor, we keep a quality opponent from scoring, and we secure a
huge win in the Champions League. Aaron Ramsey, who only came on in the 78th minute, coolly fired
home in stoppage time after a nice cross from Djourou was deflected by Gervinho, right onto
Ramsey's path.
Will Craig Levein name Garry O'Connor in his Scotland squad this week?
Apparently not.
Is that the right decision?
Yes.
Why?
O'Connor's form has been exceptional since he came back to the SPL. He's excelled in a struggling
side. Hibs aren't a one man team but they've been pretty close to it at times.
A tie on the road against the best team in the league should feel satisfactory. But facing a
third-string goalkeeper, drawing a penalty and generally outplaying the Los Angeles Galaxy for much
of the match, the Seattle Sounders 0-0 tie does not feel as satisfying as it probably should.
The big reason for that is probably Fredy Montero's failed penalty.
My biggest complaint with the economics of football is actually not the level of disparity. It's
how contracts are not honored by the players, and the bigger clubs act like despots in choosing any
player they wish regardless of anything. Take Phil Jones and Manchester United (this from
wikipedia):
- Jones signed a new five-year contract with Blackburn Rovers on 4 May 2010.

In no uncertain terms, Carlos Tevez has gone public with his desire to leave Manchester City
this summer just days after Roberto Mancini told the waking world that the little hobgoblin had
verbally agreed to stay on at the club for at least another season.

I wouldn't mind going down that trapdoor...
I am very grateful for ESPN3. With great consistency i can follow Roma. But this year has been
brutally cruel in its teasing nature of gaining big leads only to loose them. Parma repeated the
act today down 2-0. Amuari's brilliant back heal flick made it 2-1.He followed that up flicking
home a Hernan Crespo created rebound to tie the game at 2-2.
