After becoming the tenth player in Real Madrid history to score 150 goals with the club,
Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to show a lack of enthusiasm, and admitted as much after the match that he
refused to celebrate the milestone.
Even though another Clasico-filled season is over and Spain is on the very of starting their
Euro 12 campaign, Barcelona midfield wizard Xavi has decided to prod the Real Madrid v Barcelona
tensions over a lack of adequate congratulations. In the past, Xavi has grumbled about Real
Madrid's style of play and how he thinks Barca are under-appreciated within Spain, but this might
be his silliest complaint yet.
Cristiano Ronaldo did not celebrate either of his first two goals of the season in Real Madrid's
3-0 win against Granada (video of the first here). After the match he made it clear that he did
this with purpose, but he also left a bit of mystery about it all as he refrained from getting too
specific.
Following news of a dressing-room argument with journalist-shusher Samir Nasri at the center,
France manager Laurent Blanc made a few changes for his side's quarterfinal match against Spain.
Namely, he left Nasri on the bench and didn't bring him into the match until the 65th minute. Spain
went on to sleepwalk to a 2-0 win and after the match, Nasri once again expressed his displeasure
with his country's journalists, who have been critical of his manner of existing.
Events in Shanghai have taken a dramatic turn in the last week and suddenly a season of promise
is teetering on the edge of complete chaos following a dressing room mutiny that ousted Joan Tigana
from the Shenhua bench and put in its place, the team's star player, Nicolas Anelka.
With Manchester United currently bobbing up and down in the US, some have taken to the internets
to voice their displeasure. We thank these people. This infographic details some of the reasons why
some are unhappy, while also alarmingly making everyone want a Big Mac and fries. The rest of it
can be found at 101gg.
This is not the Arsenal contract right? Cos I'm not singing that
They can't all be like that. There must be someone out there or someone at our football club who
must really love our club. Someone who will give their all for the good of our club and not
demanding that the club live up to what he want.
How is it that you can wake up with hiccups? I thought you had to have been drinking too
quickly, or something, to get a case of hiccups. It seems entirely unreasonable that you could
suddenly find yourself waking up hiccuping, but that's what's happened to me today. Perhaps I was
dreaming about drinking too much or perhaps my body's just objecting to getting up at this time of
day and is finding passive aggressive ways of registering its displeasure.
The 2011/12 season is going to go down in the annuls at Liverpool as one of disappointment when
it comes to the Premier League, but Daniel Agger remains confident the Reds can get back to
challenging for the Premier League title in their next campaign.
Kenny Dalglish has guided Liverpool to the Carling Cup triumph and also the FA Cup final where
they lost out to Chelsea, but when it comes to their league campaign it has been one of displeasure
and anguish around Anfield.
Sir Alex Ferguson predicted Wigan could beat Arsenal.
They've got to get a goal, of course, but if they do they'll beat Arsenal. They are playing
really well. They should easily be in the middle of the table, rather than down at the bottom, but
at times they can't get a goal. If we had been playing any other team but Wigan the other night, we
would have been all right because it is unusual for a team to keep possession against us the way
they did.

Following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sporting KC on Saturday night, Revolution head coach Jay
Heaps did not hold back when voicing his thoughts on his clubs effort and recent play.
The loss extended the Revs winless streak to five games (0-4-1), and was also the eighth time
this season the Revs were held scoreless.
There's been a fair bit of talk about players ‘rotting' at White Hart Lane next season and
comments from Gio dos Santos this week might just lead to that sort of situation.
Gio has incurred the displeasure of head coach Andre Villas-Boas by publicly stating that he
will not be renewing his contract with Spurs when it runs out in 12 months time.
With FC Dallas struggling mightily in 2012 and some poor, misguided souls calling for the head of
FCD head coach Schellas Hyndman, one can't help but remember it wasn't all that long ago, three
years to be exact, that Dallas was slogging through a season that would end with an 11-13-6 record
and 39 points, a campaign that some remember as a number of FCD supporters sporting bags on their
heads to show their displeasure with how things were going in Frisco.
Chicago has not lost a home match to an Eastern Conference opponent since October 2010. That
streak was put to the test Saturday night when conference leaders Sporting Kansas City entered
Toyota Park to take on the Fire.
A second half red card to Roger Espinoza and a late goal by Dominic Oduro kept Chicago's
unbeaten streak in tact, while also extending Sporting KC's own losing streak in the process.
Since my first game in Montréal versus the Chicago Fire on March 17th 2012 I have been struck
and moved by the powerful support we get from our fans. It was my second game as a professional, so
you might have thought I would have gotten over the nerves of playing in front of a large crowd.
Only a week earlier, I had my debut as a second half sub versus the Vancouver Whitecaps.
On Tuesday, the Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee suspended New England Revolution
midfielder Shalrie Jospeh for one game for a 'reckless challenge' that took place against FC Dallas
last weekend.
Along with the suspension, Joseph will also be fined an undisclosed amount of money.
"I didn't even think twice about it," explained Joseph in an article on the official Revolution
website.
Shalrie Joseph was the latest victim of the MLS Disciplinary Committee. On Tuesday he was slapped
with a one-match ban for an incident during Thursday's 1-0 loss to FC Dallas. On the play, Joseph
went into a tackle from behind, toppled Ricardo Villar and was booked for doing so.
Not good enough, the committee decided and in essence decided that the play was worthy of a red
card.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva are moving to Manchester City East, aka PSG
A week ago, Thiago Silva extended his five year contract by a year to 2017, increasing his
salary from €4m to €6m for the extra year. His agent had actually wanted a salary increase to
€7.5m which AC Milan negotiated down to €6m.
At the start of today, there was everything on the line, and not just for Newcastle United.
Champions League football, the Premier League title, and relegation to the Championship. For
Newcastle, Champions League football would cap what has been an excellent season.
Unfortunately, the Toon ended the season on a disappointing note, going down at Goodison Park to
a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Everton.
After a bit more infighting, France went out of Euro 2012 with a whimper in a 2-0 quarterfinal
loss to Spain -- their second straight loss and by the same margin as their defeat to Sweden in
their final group stage match. Their elimination was immediately followed by Samir Nasri cursing
out a French journalist.
This article titled "Euro 2012: Wesley Sneijder slams 'pathetic egos' in Holland team" was
written by Marcus Christenson, for guardian.co.uk on Wednesday 13th June 2012 10.53 UTC
Wesley Sneijder has hit out at the "pathetic egos" inside the Holland squad as they prepare to
face Germany on Wednesday night.
Bacary Sagna has voiced his displeasure at summer sales of Robin van
Persie and Alexandre Song, and said that the star duo's departure from
Arsenal has left 'a lot of questions.'
In an interview with French magazine L'Equipe, the injured right back said:
"Everyone was expecting Robin van Persie to leave, but Alex Song, that was a surprise.
Apparently the problem with the Rapids in July was the fact that it was July. As soon as we got out
of the month we won! Colorado took advantage of a FSL team that never got their heads in the game
and got their first shutout in a month for a 1-0 win.
The first big moment of the game would turn out to be as close as FSL would get to scoring a goal.
Good Morning! It's matchday @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by Makita) and our
Red Bulls are facing, not one, but two opponents today. First off, they're taking on the Chicago
Fire in MLS action (1:00pm ET, MSG+, match notes here). Their biggest opponent today, however,
might be the mid-July heat, as temperatures at the 1:00pm kickoff are projected to be near 100F,
with a heat index of 105F.
Fulfilling Dirty Tackle's new premise as a one-stop shop for all Preston North End-related
stories, we bring you news that manager Graham Westley told eight of his squad not to turn up to
pre-season training via text message.
The players were expecting to show up at Preston's training ground on July 3rd, but the Daily
Mail report that the unfortunate eight were given their marching orders via the world's longest SMS
(warning: contains irritating teenage-style text message spelling):
After a few days off, and the conclusion of International call-ups, the Houston Dynamo took on
FC Dallas for the coveted El Capitan. The game itself was a truly entertaining match for the fans,
and had its intense moments here and there. For the most part, the game was back and forth with
each team dominating possession for prolonged periods in the first and second half.
Towards the end of last season, Spurs defender Danny Rose expressed his displeasure with the
lack of squad rotation at the club which resulted in a lack of playing time. Speaking before the
Villa game – in which he was sent off – he said,
"It's been very frustrating. I wanted to go out on loan at the start of the season, and in
January, and I wasn't allowed.
I know a lot of people who've used a pair of crutches at some point in their lifetime. I don't
know anyone who uses them as a fashion accessory. Typically, outlandish though it may seem, they're
required to walk.
Racing fans saw this whole walking business as less important than voicing their displeasure at
the team's current patch of form.
It was two years ago that this very site did something bold. Bold isn't always good, though. No,
this bit of boldness was met with collective displeasure we'd only gone and drawn parallels with
Antonio Valencia's style of football with that of ... Garrincha's. Alegria do Povo,
himself.
