While making their way home from an away match against Kardemir Karabükspor a couple of nights
ago, Turkish top flight side Samsunspor flirted with disaster when their team coach was side-swiped
by a train on a level crossing.
The incident was captured on CCTV.

In 1993, April 27th to be precise, the Zambian national team suffered a terrible tragedy (the
country's worst sporting disaster) when a flight taking the entire Zambian squad and their
management to a World Cup qualifying match in Senegal crashed into the Atlantic Ocean 500 metres
off the coast of Libreville, Gabon.
The Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong spent the whole of last season on the sidelines after
damaging his cruciate ligament in pre-season, but he has come back strongly this year and was sent
on loan to Wolves to give him some extended first-team action. But disaster struck yesterday when
he was stretchered off halfway theough the [.

Daniele (from Red Rants) has a written a moving piece on the Munich disaster here's an
extract:
Sam couldn't have been more focused if he had been watching a movie, so I moved on: "Harry
Gregg, United's keeper, had been thrown out the cabin after the impact along with Bobby
Charlton.
AVB hasn't exactly had it easy since he has come to Chelsea has he?. He came into the club as a
breath of fresh air speaking of motivation, fine tuning the team and with his technical staff
getting the best out of everyone.
Chelsea sit fourth just ahead of the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal and a whopping 12
points behind United and Man City and more importantly seven points and four goals behind Spurs.
Viteslea Lavicka is leaving!
Well is he leaving or was he dumped? Guess it doesn't matter.
Has a manager in Australia, in Sydney, ever been given such an easy ride.
The media in Australia all write and tweet about the guy being a lovely bloke but what about his
coaching, how will he remembered?
Newcastle did very well to come back so well from the Brighton disaster that took place last
weekend. Danny Simpson in action at Ewood Park That 1-0 defeat at the Amex Stadium, after the
Newcastle squad spent four days in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, was not the result we
wanted to see, and put in doubt the whole mid-season break in Tenerife.

Just days after selling Tim Ream to Bolton, the New York Red Bulls have secured the services of
his replacement, signing Colombian centerback Wilman Conde after making a trade with the Chicago
Fire.
The Red Bulls dealt allocation money (which one source put at $150,000) to the Fire for the
chance to sign Conde, who returns to MLS after spending 2011 in Mexico with Atlas.
It must be hard being a manager when you have said the lads will put up a good performance after
the Fulham disaster, and then we lose to a lower league side in the FA Cup. Alan Pardew it was a
bit galling And it's not gone unnoticed that's for the second year in a row Newcastle have been
eliminated [.
On October 11 last year in the provincial city of Pescara, Italy ended their qualifying campaign
with a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland. It was the perfect ending as Italy finished top of their
group. It was also just reward for coach Cesare Prandelli who managed to rebuild a strong Azzurri
from the wreckage of the 2010 World Cup disaster.
TFC training camp opens this week and it would be great to feel that anticipation for a new season
rising in one's heart. New season, new faces would be a great motto for TFC to adopt. Toronto
certainly seems to have roster spots available.
In the month of January we have spent more time waving goodbye than waving hello.
Dateline 22 January 2012, this date will go down in history, it is the date the fans at the
Emirates turned on Arsene Wenger.
The fans booed the team off at half-time and were rewarded when youngster Nico Yennaris replaced
the hapless and hopeless Djourou who becomes a bigger liability every time he puts on an Arsenal
shirt.
Earlier in the week Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said that while he'd obviously like Arsenal to
finish in the top four, it wouldn't be a 'disaster' if that didn't happen.
Obviously he was talking about it from a financial point of view. The implications of playing
Europa League instead of Champions League are obvious.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the club's 8-2 defeat away to Manchester United five
months ago will have no impact on their preparation for this Sunday's rematch at the Emirates while
skipper Robin van Persie strongly feels otherwise.
Speaking to the club's website ahead of United's trip to North London, Wenger explained that no
matter what, his side cannot reverse the disaster that occurred in Manchester last August and
hence, they must look at Sunday's match as a new opportunity altogether.
Thailand lost to a South Korea team yesterday in the King's Cup. I have no idea which South Korea,
it certainly weren't the first team and they didn't even include the Arsenal striker Park, but
anyone the Thais played them and got beat 3-1.
Coach Winnie Schaefer after the game said the Thai team weren't very fit.
The result last night has really put the cat amongst the pigeons with Chelsea now sitting eight
points behind Tottenham in the Premier League. The remit for Saturday's game now is simple, we have
to win and get the three points and the performance doesn't matter. We have to get on a run of
results and keep picking up three points week in, week out and anything else will be a disaster!
Disaster for Malaga's goalie as Karim Benzema's speculative shot results in the ball squeezing
past his arms and legs and trickles into goal. A case of the willies? It was actually the only
blemish in an otherwise fine performance by Willy Caballero to keep Real at bay.
The 1-0 victory in the second leg gave Real a winning aggregate of 4-2 advancing them to the
Copa Del Rey quarterfinals where they are almost sure to meet Barca, 4-0 winners against Osasuna in
their first leg.

What was supposed to be a winter during which Omar Gonzalez was going to take the next step in
his career has turned into disaster.
The Los Angeles Galaxy centerback tore his left ACL on his first day on loan with FC Nurnberg,
and he has returned to Los Angeles to undergo surgery, according to Nurnberg's official
website.
Eddie Johnson's quest to revive his playing career appears to have hit a major snag after he was
reportedly dumped by Mexican club Puebla because he was out of shape.
According to Medio Tiempo, Johnson showed up for Puebla training camp before the New Year, but
he failed to meet the team's expectations of fitness and sharpness and was let go.
It's a game we simply have to win to keep on the tail of Spurs and anything else will be a disaster
as far as I am concerned. We have drawn our last three Premier League games and we need to turn
things round starting on Saturday.
So with this in mind, the fact that we are at home and the fact that we need to put a side out on
that pitch at 1500 to get three points I am asking you all the question:
Who starts the game for Chelsea?
Newcastle's display last night was a lot better than the result which was a disaster. Demba Ba in
terrific form last night For the second game in a row, Newcastle were unable to get a win at
home against a side lower down in the league, and in fact we have only one point to show from

SPANISH FOOTBALL night with more SPANISH CUP 2º leg results & with lots of surprises. Here are all
the results, scorers & briefs. Diego for Atletico ATLETICO DE MADRID lost 0 - 1 to ALBACETE ( 1 -
2 agg ) & gets knocked out of the Spanish Cup. The winning goal came in the 1st min via VICTOR
CURTO, & from here Atletico did little.
For the tournament I'm doing Outside Pack Reffing. There's a minor problem with roller derby - it's
not that outside pack reffing isn't important; it's just that it could be said that the other
positions are just "more equal" than OPR - honestly, it's much like Assistant Referees in soccer;
when you have good OPRs things can go absolutely awesome, and the inside refs appreciate the heck
out of them and it can turn a well-reffed bout into an awesomely reffed-bout.
I'm going to take a small break from writing about Arsenal today to vent on a subject that has
infuriated me since listening to the European Championship draw on Friday evening, and that is the
supreme arrogance of English pundits with regard to the national team. We all know that England are
forever overhyped before major tournaments, but it is the dismissive contempt for many of the other
countries (those not called Spain, Germany or Italy) that winds me up the most.
André Villas-Boas warns Chelsea that Liverpool are a title threat
• Chelsea and Liverpool can make up ground, says manager • Fernando Torres set to return for
visitors at Stamford Bridge The Chelsea manager André Villas-Boas has refused to rule Liverpool
out of the Premier League title race, despite Sunday's visitors to Stamford Bridge having slipped
12 points behind the leaders Manchester City.
Takover rumour;Well rumours have to start somewhere and with our history this is more likely than
an Arab sheik What a disaster and divisive distraction the Olympic Stadium land grab has been.
Now with the accusations about surveillance of the Olympic Committee and the revelations about
Karen Brady's phone calls the stinking pit gets deeper and smellier.
You might not have been reading CCN in 2007, but if you were, you may recall this:
Cruel, cruel, cruel.
A beautiful, freezing December evening. A sleepy first half, an engaging second, and then
disaster. Injury time: some bother as Newcastle attack, by the penalty spot, Omozusi – otherwise
excellent – late on a tackle, over tumbles the forward.

Get Used to It: They're StayingIt was bound to happen. It might even have happened if the
Red Bulls had found a way to progress beyond the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday and make it all the
way to MLS Cup. What am I talking about? The boatload of scathing editorials asking for Hans Backe
and Erik Solér's heads on a plate as a result of the Red Bulls' failures this season.
OK, moving on after the nightmare of last week and the disaster in Genk, Chelsea take a trip to
Ewood Park to take on Blackburn this Saturday and I am wondering who AVB will pick to start the
game.
We have all seen and discussed the situation with our defending lately and AVB has take time again
today to confirm that it is something we are working on in addition to creating and taking our
chances to win games rather than miss them and it costs us.
Why Steven Gerrard's time as Liverpool's talisman could soon come to an end
As disappointing as Steven Gerrard's latest absence with his ankle infection undoubtedly is for
Kopites, it is not the disaster it used to be. A couple of years ago, news that Gerrard would be
out for any length of time would set the alarm bells ringing at Anfield.
Disaster for Keys and Gray as theatre tour cancelled
Dave Whelan's ill-advised comments on Premier League racism, in which he advised black players
to "just get on with it" if abused, weren't his only bizarre utterance of the weekend. How did the
former JJB Sports boss and Conservative Party backer respond to his side's eighth consecutive
defeat, which leaves them bottom of the Premier League?
1. What we wanted to see today was a reaction to last weekend's disaster. A 1-0 win at Goodison
Park, a ground we haven't won at since 2007, is a good result. Of course we all wanted to see
United come out and rip Everton apart, the way we did Bolton and Arsenal earlier this season, but
that isn't necessarily a realistic expectation.
What's the best way to put a terrible defeat behind you? One word: winning. After Sunday's
Manchester derby disaster, Manchester United took a step in the right direction with a comfortable
3-0 win at Aldershot in the fourth round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday. However, as nice as that
win was, a win against [.

The Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has criticised a retired judge who suggested the families of
Hillsborough victims should move on and drop their "conspiracy theories".
Sir Oliver Popplewell, who chaired the public inquiry into the 1985 fire at the Valley Parade
stadium, which killed 56 people, called on the Liverpool families to look at the "quiet dignity and
great courage" that relatives of the Bradford victims have shown in the years following the
tragedy.
