Daneil Cyrus is not in camp with Sporting KC due to "personal reasons" and it doesn't look like
he'll be joining the team soon. Word out of Trinidad (h/t The Daily Wiz) is that Cyrus will be
joining the Trinidad and Tobago U-23 for a camp. The camp will be capped off by two friendlies
again the full national team of Guyana.
Today at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Sporting KC added two new players to their roster ahead of the
start of preseason next week. Not needing to draft a specific player that would be required to come
in and fill a need, KC was able to look a few different directions with their pick at number 16 and
even at pick number 30.
More stats updates for you on Sporting KC. This time it's the most starts for KC in league play and

Davy Arnaud took over the number one spot on the list this season, but with his departure, Michael
Harrington is the only player on the roster to appear in 100 games for KC.
Tomorrow Sporting KC have their second friendly of the season when they host Chivas Guadalajara at
LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The game was part off the deal that brought Omar Bravo to Kansas City
this year. Guadalajara's roster is full of plenty of first teamers with them on the trip including
captain Hector Reynoso and vice-captain Luis Ernesto Michel.
Tomorrow's game against DC United is an incredibly big game for both KC and DC. Both teams are
fighting to work their way into one of the 3 automatic playoff spots for the Eastern Conference as
we head into the weekend. KC currently (as of this moment) holds the 3rd spot, but is only 2 points
ahead of 6th place DC.
Seattle's Setup: Seattle set up in their usual 4-4-2. Scott got the start at left center
back, only his second career start at center back and had an up and down match. Carrasco played in
the center of midfield mostly in front of the heat-seeking missile Ossie Alonso, who played in his
usual holding midfield spot.
Tonight, despite being pushed around and generally beaten up by Sporting Kansas City, Seattle
Sounders FC pulled out a win. They did this against particularly poor officiating, oppressive heat
and humidity, and the run of play. The team formerly known as the Wizards were clearly the better
team, but it was the Sounders that had the late game magic.

Kansas City continues their extended home stand tomorrow when they'll take on the Seattle Sounders
at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The Wizards are almost to the halfway point of the extended home
stand, this game is the 4th of the 9 game stretch. Seattle comes into the weekend match up against
Sporting KC for their 4th game in an 11 day stretch.
It's been a while since Kansas City has had a mid-week off from a game. While Omar Bravo and Matt
Besler had the All Star game the rest of the team probably didn't know exactly what to do with
themselves with the week off. Coming out of the week KC plays the New England Revolution tomorrow
at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, continuing their long home stand.
Houston's Strategy Dominic Kinnear went away from his preferred 4-4-2 and set his side in a
4-5-1. Will Bruin was left on the bench and Brian Ching started alone up top. Brad Davis was used
as a deep lying creative midfield player. Danny Cruz was on the right wing and the most supportive
attacking player for Ching.
Kansas City goes on the road tomorrow for one of their last 4 road games of the season down in
Houston against the Dynamo. The Dynamo are on a 3 game unbeaten run, two ties and then a win last
week over Toronto. They are led by Brad Davis, who is currently leading the league in assists. His
crosses and free kicks have helped Brian Ching and Will Bruin to add to each of their goal totals.
Tomorrow KC continues their busy schedule with their Open Cup quarterfinal against the Richmond
Kickers at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Once again KC is playing their 3rd game in the span of a week
when the USL-Pro team (US third division) comes into town. The Kickers will also be playing their
3rd game in a week, as they played a home and home series with the Charlotte Eagles on Friday and
Saturday night this past week, and now travel to KC.
Today MLS held a weighted lottery after the league signed Michigan University standout, Soony Saad
to a contract. Sporting KC was one of only 4 teams available for the draft that chose to
participate. Along with KC, Chicago, Chivas, and Portland participated in the draft. Real Salt
Lake, San Jose, Philadelphia, and Columbus were unable to participate due to winning previous
lotteries.
I have to say that I was probably a little more optimistic about this game after seeing the
pounding SKC gave FC Dallas. But, I was also a little worried that Vermes was going to go back to
his beloved 4-3-3 formation that hasn't worked well. But, when I saw that Omar Bravo was going to
replace Stojcev (who was suspended) I was again excited.
START DAKAR DUC 2-0 Dahra, Jeanne D'Arc 1-0 Casa Sports (Senegalese Ligue 1, 05:06:11) Nick Ames
writes on a double-bill of Senegalese football action. Woof..... I'm halfway round the perimeter of
Stade Demba Diop, and I'm feeling pleasantly surprised. They'd told me nobody went to local league
games, that the teams - especially the slew of similarly-sized outfits based in Dakar - were losing
After the poor performance against another bottom feeder team in Chicago I didn't have my hopes
set very high for the game against FC Dallas. FCD hadn't allowed a goal in several games and has,
in my opinion, one of the best keepers in MLS. And then I saw that Bunbury, Smith, Kamara, and
Bravo were all sitting this game out I got really worried.
When the lineup for tonight's game against FC Dallas was announced, I don't know if there were many
fans, if any, predicting a point, let alone all three as Sporting KC took it to FC Dallas, winning
4-1, even though they played the last 30 plus minutes down a man. With virtually only 18 players
healthy, or not with their national team, KC looked set to continue their long winless run, while
Dallas looked set to extend their own unbeaten run to 10 games.
During today's weekly press conference, Peter Vermes confirmed that all 5 of the players that
Sporting KC fans thought would be called up for this year's Gold Cup have in fact been called up.
We'd heard that Craig Rocastle was called up yesterday, and that Roger Espinoza was available for
selection.
I'll try to keep some live updates of the match here for those without a way to watch it. From

I was away for the weekend refereeing a youth soccer tournament which kept me from watching this
game live. But thanks to my DVR I was able to record and watch this game this morning. SKC played a
pretty good game and the defense gave up only 1 goal and no red cards. But some of the same
problems plagued this team in the 1-0 loss to the Red Bulls.
Tomorrow in New York, Sporting Kansas City begins the second half of their 10 game road trip
against the New York Red Bulls. New York comes into the game tomorrow on the backs of two blow out
wins against San Jose (3-0) and DC (4-0). Thierry Henry has started to get into good goal scoring
form, getting 3 goals in the last two games.
Earlier this week when MLS rescinded Aurelien Collin's red card, they stated that there would be no
punishment for Birahim Diop on the play. That changed today when MLS announced that the red card
suspension for Collin had been transferred to Diop. Diop will now miss tomorrow's game against New
York.
MLS' disciplinary committee today announced that Aurelien Collin will not be suspended for this
weekend's game against New York. Collin was given a red card for "striking an opponent" aka shoving
Benny Feilhaber. The league announced that after reviewing the play it was a case of mistaken
identity as Birahim Diop was the one that shoved Feilhaber.
Sporting Kansas City announced today that they will be appealing the red card that was given to
Sporting KC defender Aurelien Collin in the team's 3-2 loss to New England last weekend. Collin was
given the red card after an altercation after a Sporting KC corner kick. On the play Collin went up
for a header against Revolution goalkeeper, Matt Reis.
Another away game, another 3 goals given up, and another red card. These are things that are
becoming way to common when talking about the Wizards games. The only difference with this game
from the previous is the fact Sporting KC played solid for most of the game. For the first time I
don't feel like SKC beat themselves in this game.

Benny Feilhaber got the start and most of the headlines this week, but it was the New England
Revolution's other recent signing that made the difference at Gillette Stadium Saturday night.
Danish striker Rajko Lekic headed home the first goal of his MLS career in the 83rd minute to
give the Revs a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City, their first since the second week of the
season.
Back in the press box at a cold and damp Gillette Stadium for tonight's MLS match-up between the
New England Revolution and Sporting Kansas.
Looking forward to seeing the newest Revs in action: Forward Rajko Lekic and midfielder Benny
Feilhaber. New England will also have midfielders Shalrie Joseph and Pat Phelan back after both
players missed the loss to Houston last weekend while serving one-game red-card suspensions for
getting sent off against Real Salt Lake.
The weather might not have been the best for a game, but it would be hard to blame the poor play
from both teams solely on that. The Crew showed why they have only scored 4 goals the entire
season. And the Wizards showed why they have given up more goals than any other team.
Formation
Vermes decided after the embarrassment in Vancouver that he would go with the exact same line up
for this game.
Tomorrow Sporting KC will take the field against Chivas USA in the season opener of the 2011 season
for Sporting KC. It's also the start of the team's 10 game road trip to start the season in league
play. Chivas USA has turned over much of it's roster, bringing in a new coach in Robin Fraser and
bringing in some interesting talent, including former Wizards defender Jimmy Conrad in the re-entry
draft.
KC didn't get the victory last night against the New York Red Bulls, but the 2-2 draw between the
two gave Sporting KC the Desert Cup on goal difference. In a match that saw both sides put out
their first team, Sporting KC twice took the lead, but twice the Red Bulls equalized. KC grabbed
the lead in the 20th minute, when Davy Arnaud got on the end of a Kei Kamara cross making it 1-0.
Sporting Kansas City and defending Champion Colorado scrimmaged on Saturday to 0 - 0 result. Kansas
City played three lines.1st lineup played 60 minutes:Nielsen; Harrington, Cyrus, Correa (Santos),
Espinoza, Mravec, Milos Stojcev, Arnaud, Kamara, Bunbury, Bravo2nd lineup played 30

Preseason for KC starts tomorrow with entry physicals and there's certainly a lot to be decided
with the expansion of the rosters and the spots that have opened up as well. With it only a day
away I figured I'd take a quick look at the roster as it is now, the trialists and the draft picks,
broken down by positions.
