With much of the qualification process almost complete and South Africa 2010 looming large, it
would make sense to assess some of the world's best custodians who will be present during the World
Cup. Goalkeepers such as Petr Cech will be excluded from the discussion since their nation failed
to qualify for next summer's big event.

It is very difficult, if not downright foolish, to predict how a team will perform at a major
tournament like the World Cup in the immediate aftermath of qualification. But such is
the assignment with which I have been tasked.
As such, let me say that I do believe the defending world champions of Italy have the
talent to win the World Cup again (and certainly as compared to other teams.

This week's Ultimate 11's is Melanios' Italy, now Mel has bored us all to death with his tales
of playing against some of the all time Italian greats. We are of course talking about Subbuteo,
Melanio won the World Cup representing Italy way back in 1974.
We were looking forward to a rare all mustard 11 but was let down by an over rated Totti, a one
tournament wonder and a pensioner still plying his trade in Serie A.

Di solito è sempre stato abbastanza riservato e taciturno. Non che gli sia mai mancato il

parlato di molte questioni, esaltando Diego ("è più forte di Zico") compresa quella che sta a
cuore a molti italiani, la convocazione in nazionale di Antonio Cassano, autore di prestazioni
divine nella Serie A con la maglia blucerchiata.

Vent'anni. Il tempo di un'intera generazione. Tanto è passato dal giorno in cui Gaetano Scirea
lasciò questa vita senza avere il tempo di salutare nessuno. La sua esemplare esistenza, lo
