If I was to tell you that FC Metalist full-back Cristian Villagra scored a direct free-kick from
70 yards against Dinamo Moscow yesterday, you'd probably be envisaging some kind of hit-and-hope
effort that gets carried the length of the pitch by the wind, hits a divot, bounces twice over a
stranded goalkeeper and nestles soundly in the back of the net.
Rubin Kazan is the next match up in the Europa league. With a feisty affair not really being on the
cards. Both teams are favourites to qualify from the group, are likely to be happy with a draw and
field weakened teams with the players not wanting to risk injury. Us with our youngsters, defensive
holes, and Redknapp concentrating more on the league.

The rain in Russia falls mainly in the Metallurg Stadion, especially if this photo from Krylya's
surprise 1-0 win over Dinamo Moscow on Saturday evening is anything to go by...
Sodden.

The Russian Premier League title race became more interesting this weekend following two major
games involving four of the top six teams. In a capital derby Dinamo Moscow shocked their hosts
CSKA Moscow by hitting four goals without reply whilst defending champions Zenit Saint Petersburg
also had four put past them in a 4-2 defeat at Lokomotiv Moscow.
Defending cup holders CSKA are out of this year's competition
CSKA Moscow, defending title holders of the Russian Cup, have been sensationally knocked out of
this year's competition having gone down to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of second-tier club
Volgar-Gazprom Astrakhan. A goal in the 88th minute from Alan Chochiev ensured that the Army club,
who have won six Russian Cups in the last decade, will not retain the title this time around.
After long absence, I am back now, with full basket of new stuff, with the new look of the blog.
Today, I will start with videos and goals only. I will cover the past two weeks.
I will start with Sendoa wonderful goal for Hercules vs. Mallorca in a 2-2 tie.
