Lets face it Alex Ferguson is above the law, the FA and his Club and he knows it…

Arsenal Insider 09 October @ 04:29 PM EST

OK no TGIF for two weeks due to International duties, and I thought that today I would discuss non Arsenal matters on and off the field. The most obvious topic that gets me hot under the collar is what I perceive to be FA bias towards SAF. Sir Alex Ferguson manager of Man U. Now I have in the past called the FA the Ferguson Association for they seem totally unable to act with any kind of authority against him.

Another Arsenal Blog 01 October @ 03:30 AM EST
There is always an element of subjectivity in any analysis or judgement, particularly so, perhaps, in matters of the heart. And football.Along with the Corrs dilemma, the other seminal philososphical debate of the modern era is if you had a straight choice between Arsenal winning the Champions League and the Premier League - which would you choose? Antonio Cassano has reinvented himself. Not only has he changed his physical approach by losing weight, he has changed his mental approach too, becoming not only more mature, but also a leader. He is now someone who visits hospitals and gives signed shirts to sick children. He is now someone who can carry a team on his back, provide assists for his teammates, and entertain the crowd.

Rafa Benitez asked his players to do their talking on the pitch and Yossi Benayoun responded brilliantly at Anfield on Saturday.
The Israeli was excellent against Burnley and fully deserved his hat-trick.
Ryan Babel could learn a lot from Benayoun.
Rather than moan about not being in the side every week, Benayoun knuckled down and was determined to take his chance. Click to continue reading...

DT Exclusive: Tough decision

Dirty Tackle 08 September @ 04:06 AM EST

Fabio Capello has a decision to make. Stick with his preferred strike partnership of Wayne Rooney and Emile Heskey, or bench the latter and start Jermain Defoe, who scored once again after replacing Heskey in the second half of the Slovenia match. Although even Heskey himself thinks Defoe should probably start, Capello seems to be struggling with the dilemma.

Gallant Crown crushed out of Singapore Cup

BoLASEPaKO - a simple view on Singapore Soccer 02 September @ 10:36 AM EST
Bangkok Glass' style of play is similar to what we saw by their fellow Thai side - TTM Samut Sakorn on last Friday.
Glass Rabbit fans... Wondering we would get to see the famed Glass Rabbit cheerleaders anytime soon?
Patient is the key in orchestrating any attacking play, a logic never seems to adapt by many of the local clubs who would prefer that "kamikaze" style of football (kick and rush before allowing your opponents to hit you hard when at vulnerability). Click to continue reading...

A non-footie rumination on the eve of the season starting

Fantasy EPL 14 August @ 07:01 PM EST
So, as a native of the Philadelphia area here in the US I'm confronted with something of a dilemma. Growing up in Philadelphia you are generally brought up with a healthy (and some would say unhealthy) bit of mania for the local professional sports teams across all major American sports. As a kid who played just about every sport available growing up and growing up in an era (late 70s and early 80s) when all of the local teams were challenging for championships I formed life-long attachments to my teams - the Phillies in baseball (that's the defending World Series champion Phillies I might add); the 76ers in basketball; the Flyers in hockey; and the Eagles in football (our version). The All New Late Afternnon/Early Evening Edition

LadyArse - Arsenal and the world of football from a woman's perspective @ OleOl 09 August @ 03:14 PM EST

I've had a dilemma for a while now. I believe to deliver a blog which people will read regularly you have to be consistent with your posting days and times (as well as actually having half decent content and a writing style that people can actually understand).

I originally chose to to go for a morning 'edition' but this was a rather stupid idea as I start work at 5.

Arsenal 3-Rangers 0: And They Say Arsenal Doesn’t Win Trophies…

The Offside - Arsenal 02 August @ 12:16 PM EST

Arsenal wins the more or less meaningless Emirates Cup with a dominant performance against Rangers. Juve want Kolarov

Soccer Pie 21 July @ 11:25 AM EST

Italians still insist that Aleksandar Kolarov is Juventus' first pick, when it comes to the position of the left back. The biggest Italian club made up the team that should be number one favourites for the title, but flanks are the weakest links.

The solution for the right side is obviously Martin Caceres from Barcelona, while Fabio Groso was in charge of the left side, but sports director Seko has already stated that he is no longer in club plans for the future.

Money or your shirt?

Football in the Capital 05 July @ 06:54 PM EST
These days, the A-League average (salary) is more than $100,000 — a marked increase in a few short years on the sort of wages that were offered (and often not paid by bankrupt clubs) in the old National Soccer League.

Why yesterday's US win is more important then we understand

Molto Calcio 25 June @ 08:19 AM EST
What the US proved yesterday was that if you take your chances,(2 for the US) and work your tail off, combine it with grit and intelligence (Keeping numbers behind the ball playing off the counter, stayting compact) sprinkle in some emergency defending you can create a guts and glory result that many teams who have faced Spain have failed to achieve. Confederations Cup and the horns of a dilemma

Soccerblog 17 June @ 12:21 AM EST

The horns are causing the dilemma actually. If you are watching the games on ESPN you will hear the overenthusiastic horn players in the crowds producing an irritating incessant humming noise that just goes on and on without a break. My long suffering elocution teacher would have said that it reminded her of the "hum of innumerable bees"
It's a ghastly sound effect.
