It's been a good while since the last lot of Argentines Abroad, partly because of the Claudio Yacob

One of the perks of being a professional futbolito is obviously getting new cars sent to
your doorstep every season (listen up, AC Milan fans!) While the European elite get to drive their
shiny new Audis, Atletico Madrid's players received keys to our
favourite car of all time instead a Volkswagen Beetle!

Atletico Madrid's revival under new coach Diego Simeone continued on Monday as Diego Godin fired
the winner in a battling 1-0 victory at Osasuna that lifted Atletico up to seventh in La Liga.
The Uruguay defender bundled in from close range at a corner just before the break and forwards
Adrian and Radamel Falcao missed gilt-edged chances to extend the lead.
Another weekend passed some time ago now, and illness during the week combined with the recording

Yes, you're looking at the sticky note belonging to Jose Mourinho from
Saturday's match between Real Madrid and Mallorca. Granted, his
handwriting looks a little like your 7-year-old sister's when she's penning a poem about Prince
Charming in a pink cape, but who cares?

Diego Simeone says he is unfazed by the prospect of turning around Atletico Madrid's faltering
season after being formally unveiled as their new coach.

Friday, signing a contract until the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

While the retaining of David Beckham's services remains up in the air for the Los Angeles
Galaxy, five other players saw their contract situations get a lot clearer on Friday.
Sean Franklin and Bryan Jordan re-signed with Los Angeles, while Adam Cristman's option was
picked up, allowing Bruce Arena to keep key parts of the deep squad that won the 2011 MLS Cup and
Supporters' Shield.
Atlético Madrid have named Diego Simeone as their new coach following the dismissal of Gregorio
Manzano.
The former Argentina midfielder, 41, scored 23 goals in 134 appearances during two spells at
Atlético, winning a domestic double in 1995/96. Simeone moved to Europe to join AC Pisa and then
Sevilla FC, signing for Atlético from 1994-97.
Former Argentina captain Diego Simeone has quit as Racing Club coach fanning media speculation
he might be in line to take charge of his former club Atletico Madrid.
Gregorio Manzano is fighting for survival at Atletico where the fans are in open revolt against
him and the board with the side in mid-table after some wildly erratic performances.

One of my favorite World Cup tournaments was that of 1994 where we saw the return of the beautiful
football with many great teams, including Brazil and Argentina, Mexico even Colombia despite their
big upset. It is a lot of fun to watch the performance of the great performing teams just few
months or one year before the big tournament.

puntos en el promedio y aspirar a una pelea por el título. En sus pocos partidos previos (el

conformar una prometedora dupla cafetero-académica.

Catania and the Argentine Sicilians is a post from: Just Football
Argentina! Argentina! Argentina! In this week's Serie A column David Swan reports on an
Italian club with a very different current identity...
Of all the games to pick out from last weekend in Serie A, Catania-Cagliari might seem a strange
choice.
We've a new correspondent on Argentines Abroad this week, to give us a more in-depth view of
Italy's Serie A, in which there was some decent Argentine action this week. In Spain, Sergio
Agüero scored yet again for Atlético Madrid, closing ... Continue reading →
The games are coming thick and fast in Serie A, and after a crucial midweek round in which Inter
were the sole benefactors, they will be looking to build on that momentum but face a tough tie in
the weekends standout game. Bologna – Catania What a baptism into Italian football management for
Diego Simeone, but he remedied a 100 per cent losing record with Catania after claiming a draw
against.
Despite a surge in managerial turmoil in the past two weeks - when Catania replaced Marco Giampaolo
with Diego Simeone and Brescia recalled Beppe Iachini after an unsuccessful seven-match spell under
Mario Beretta - Serie A chairmen, that notorious publicity-craving, trigger-happy bunch, have been
more restrained than in the past.
