Morning all,
the dust has settled somewhat following Sunday's drama, and if anything illustrates how quiet
things have gone from the club's point of view, it's that one of the main stories on the official
website is the news that Luis Boa Morte is joining South African side Orlando Pirates of the
Caribbean.
Papa Babacar Diawara (alias BABÁ ) has been signed in this "Transfer Winter Market" by Spanish
Football Club SEVILLA FC from the Portugueses Football League. The player signs over from the
"SuperLiga" & Club MARITIMO DE FUNCHAL & has scored 10 goals this season which has caught the eye
of Sevilla FC.
Aaron Ramsey struck two minutes into added time to give Arsenal an important 1-0 win at
Marseille's Stade Velodrome that puts them in control of Champions League Group F.
After a largely dispiriting 90 minutes in which both sides struggled to create clear-cut
chances, substitute Ramsey controlled an accidental flick-on from Gervinho and placed his shot
low past Steve Mandanda to give Arsene Wenger's side a fifth win in six games in all
competitions.
Finally, a late goal goes in our favor, we keep a quality opponent from scoring, and we secure a
huge win in the Champions League. Aaron Ramsey, who only came on in the 78th minute, coolly fired
home in stoppage time after a nice cross from Djourou was deflected by Gervinho, right onto
Ramsey's path.
Arsenal travel to the Stade Velodrome tonight in a champions league clash against Group F
leaders Marseille. The Gunners go into this match knowing that anything less than a win could
seriously hamper their chances of moving onto the next stage.
However things do not look too good for Arsenal as number of their key players are major doubts
for the fixture.
Tomorrow sees the Arsenal step on the Stade Velodrome and take on the mighty Olympique
Marseille, for what is due to be an exciting clash for 1st place in Group F. With Olympiakos
winless and Dortmund disappointing, the Arsenal-Marseille clashes will likely dictate the final
standings of our group, so it's important to go and get a result out there tomorrow.
The summer is only half over and yet the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season is nearing
its completion. Despite the Twin Cities having a Division 2 soccer team in the NASL Minnesota
Stars, we also have two NPSL teams: The St. Paul Twin Stars who are the oldest team going back to
2005 and the Minnesota Kings who started in NPSL play last year.
