What an emotional, mentally draining week its been. Monsieur Henry's handball has been talked
to death at this stage, im sure some people will be rolling their eyes at another article over this
much talked about topic, but I haven't given my two cents yet and I've got some things to get off
my chest.

First thing: If you're catching the game on delay on Setanta, DON'T read the comments. I broke
down and forked over my $19.99 to Setanta to watch the game live, so I will be leaving updates
there.
And if you have a working illicit stream, please leave that in the comments as well. It looks
like there will be multiple options.

Liverpool could make a January bid to prise Lassana Diarra away from Real Madrid after being told
that he is unsettled at the Spanish club, according to a report in The People.
Reds manager Rafael Benitez wants to add to his midfield options and he believes that the former
Chelsea and Arsenal star could be the answer.

Real Madrid's 0-4 calamity at Alcorcan, a wee club from the suburbs of the same city, is my
highlight of the week. Oh to have been an ADA fan that night! Here's the awesome fortress of the
Santo Domingo (cap. 4,000) and the Real lineup that made history: Dudek; Arbeloa, Albiol,
Metzelder, Drenthe; Diarra, Guti (Gago 46'), Van der Vaart, Granero (Marcelo 63'); Raúl (Van

Alcorcon ply their trade in the third tier of the Spanish league and when they came up against
big spending La Liga giants Real Madrid in the first leg of this Copa Del Rey (the Spanish
equivalent of the FA Cup) they were probably just dreaming of the much needed cash the tie would
generate, however the Alcorcon players had other ideas.

France are finding a bit of form.
And none too soon.
Domenech has pulled a rabbit out of the hat in Gignac.
Gignac put the match to rest with a sumptuous third.
Benzema got the start up front along with ever-presents Thierry Henry and Sidney Govou.
Stalwarts like Toulalan and L.

This is it! The final World Cup qualifier! Are you excited?
Yeah, neither is anybody else. Let's still hope for a good showing.
As Jeff discussed, Serbia's win over Romania means France has no chance to go top of the group.
France's win over Faroe Islands means that France is guaranteed the second-place playoffs.

La Liga Talk 05 October @ 03:30 AM EST
In terms of the football played on the pitch, the Sevilla Real Madrid clash qualified as the
best match of the young La Liga season. Honorable mentions to Athletic Bilbao's 3-2 victory over
Villarreal CF in Round 3 and the pulsating 2-2 draw between Valencia and Atlético Madrid last
Saturday night, but this fixture contained everything that a writer and a supporter wanted: back
stories prior to the game, vigorous and attacking football, tensions boiling over the players at
hand, and incredible stops by both goalkeepers.

When Sulaiman Al Fahim announced his plans regarding the takeover of the club
this summer, Pompey fans started hoping Portsmouth would soon be able to challenge European places
in the least. However, completely the opposite happened as Paul Hart's side achieved the record of
worst start in the history of the Premier League, having lost no less than 7
opening games.

Revenue from football activities is up £18million due to our extended runs in both the FA Cup

League is worth £20million that is not far off the mark.

League ebenfalls respektabel.

Seven games tonight of Round 4 in the "Liga" with its usual mix ofaction, goals & last minute
surprises. Here is a summary of tonights scores & results:REAL MADRID left Benzema & Raul on the
bench to change its system to 4-3-3 ( or 4-2-3-1) & saw how defender Garay injuried himself inthe
warm up. This lead to a "revolutionary change" in the defence with Casillas, Lass Diarra, Albiol,

The curtain comes down on the NSW Premier League season tomorrow, with the Sutherland Sharks

C'mon, Romania!!! Oh, and France, too.
If we can get a win today at Serbia, our fate is still in our own hands. Our guys can do that.
Right?

expecting Domenech to go for continuity.

France's lineup was something like this:
Gignac
Henry Gourcuff Anelka
Toulalan Diarra
Evra Escude Gallas Sagna
Lloris
With Henry and Anelka, it was a bit like a 4-2-1-3, but it was essentially the France formation
(4-2-3-1).
And although it looks to me like Domenech is picking just about the right players, the team play
is lacking fluidity.

a Lass Diarra.

Abou Diaby: Serbia attack's most dangerous weapon?
This upcoming weekend will be filled with World Qualifiers up until Tuesday so I will not
comment much on Le Championnat from last weekend that saw a very disappointing 0 – 0 between
Marseille and Bordeaux, a very convincing 3 - 0 win by PSG against Lille, St Etienne's first 3
points versus a sad Grenoble and more Lyon magic thanks to Lisandro Lopez (ARG), Gomis (FRA)
and Bastos (BRA).

1. Ronaldo scores in La Liga opener
In wasn't the prettiest season debut for the new-look Real Madrid. But it was a winning one.
Cristiano Ronaldo converted a first-half penalty kick for Los Blancos, but in the end they needed a
second-half winner from Lassana Diarra to get the 3-2 win against Deportiva La Coruña.

No, Cristiano Ronaldo did not steal the show in Real's opening encounter against Deportivo. Nor
did Karim Benzema.
The attacking punch came from Lassana Diarra who orchestrated moves deep in midfield. The French
holding midfielder scored the winning goal and provided the assist that led to Ronaldo's PK.

What can you say about a match like that?
France kept a clean sheet.
Gignac scored a nice goal.
France controlled the match and created a lot of chances, but by conceding free kicks, they also
gave Faroe Islands chances to score, and it could have been a disaster.
But it wasn't.

Thierry Henry won't play when France meet the Faroe Islands in a couple days, because, according
to Barcelona, he has pain in both Achilles tendons.
Henry is still one of France's best players, but given that he's likely to be missing more games
in the future due to injury at this stage in his career, it would be timely for another attacking
player to step forward.
