Ahead of this weekend's FA Cup games, we thought it only right to bring you just a teeny weeny
taste of the 'Magic of the Cup™' courtesy of one Wayne Hatswell, a name that will live long in
the memory (possibly) a man who, in one moment of pure unadulterated technical incompetence,
smashed home arguably the worst own-goal ever.
With the MLS Superdraft looming, I was curious about what the people here think the Timbers
should do. Not so much about whether they should draft a specific player, but about how the team
should approach the draft, and what strategy they should follow when acquiring young American
talent.
The Timbers draft eighth in the draft this year, and as many people have noted are looking to
make the leap into the playoffs and general Cup contention.
Just wanted to provide a quick update for everyone concerning the status of Dynamo Theory during
the holidays. With things mostly calm around the Dynamo and the league in general, we'll be taking
a break for the next couple weeks and recharging out batteries for 2012.
We've got the MLS SuperDraft and the winter transfer window in January, along with doing some
looks back at the 2011 season, so you've got plenty to look forward to.
We are only three months into the new season, but already it feels as if history is beginning to
repeat itself. In July, the county of Northamptonshire lost Rushden & Diamonds after a season of
spectacular mismanagement a new club, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, has already started a youth team and
is expected to begin again from the start of next season and this time around there is now a
sizeable body evidence which indicates that the club that took over their Nene Park home during the
summer, Kettering Town, could well be set to follow them into serious difficulties.
Back in the Boro fold is midfielder Nick McNamara.
Former Hull City 1st year pro, Nick also played at football league
level with Rushden & Diamonds, he joined us last season from our rivals and landlords Bridlington
Town, but after suffering a broken bone playing against Parkgate, he left the club.

Shane Warne popped the question to Liz Hurley at St Andrews, the home of golf. The question was
‘can I take a mulligan?' When the oft-seen couple and Warne were asked why they haven't named a
date for the wedding, Warne said he wasn't aware you were allowed to bring one.
Known for quality soccer boots and playing attire, UK-based sportswear firm Umbro introduced its
1350 collection earlier this year with its Diamonds Icons Range. Now the Nike subsidiary has
expanded the 1350 line with the new Milton footwear series designed for casual use. According to
Umbro: A selection of shoes crafted to offer you style [.
Plus ça change. As ever, it impossible to even attempt to frame the start of the new season in
the Blue Square Premier without talking, in more detail than even we might particularly want to,
about the financial condition football's de facto fifth division. This summer saw the expulsion and
subsequent folding of Rushden & Diamonds, which was followed by the bizarre and in some respects
unedifying sight of Imraan Ladak hastily moving their former rivals Kettering Town into their
ground, a chaotic couple of months at Wrexham which led to a desperate race against time in order
to keep the club alive, and the lingering suspicion that there are a number of clubs playing at
this level that are still struggling to come to terms with the new, tougher financial regulations
that have been introduced in this league by the Football Conference.
There was always something faintly ridiculous about the decision of Rushden & Diamonds FC try
and appeal against their expulsion from the Football Conference. Leagues have their rules and, if
clubs don't abide by them, they are likely to run into problems and, whilst the Conference has got
many things wrong in recent years, one thing that they have managed to get a proper hold of has
been the seemingly perpetual financial shenanigans going on at several of their clubs.
It is the Annual General Meeting of the Southern Football League today, at which the
ratification of the constitution of the league for next season will take place. One of the teams
that is supposed to be starting the new season, however, Rushden & Diamonds, is now almost
certainly not going be starting the new season at the end of a week that seems likely to change the
face of football in Northamptonshire forever.
Our non-league videos of the week are twety-four hours later than usual this week but, to make
it up to you, we've brought together the highlights of five matches this week. Our first match is
from the Premier Division of the Ryman League and is between the league leaders, Sutton United and
Hastings United.
