Tonge's no longer stoking the fire

thetwounfortunates 19 November @ 08:52 PM EST
Michael Tonge's loan move from Stoke to Preston after Tony Pulis's unsuccessful attempt to establish the languid midfielder as a Premier League player comes as little surprise; his spell at the Britannia Stadium having been as excitement packed as a Cabinet meeting to discuss the Lisbon treaty. Tonge is one of a special breed of players who look the part – and his formative years in some dramatic Click to continue reading...

Robbie Savage tries to fly to Amsterdam on a woman’s passport

Off the Post 13 November @ 03:56 AM EST
Derby midfielder's inadvertent identity theft Robbie Savage has spent most of his career being told he looks like a woman, but when it really mattered it turned out he just wasn't quite girly enough. The Welshman had been due to travel to Amsterdam with the Derby squad yesterday to play a friendly match. Click to continue reading...

Messy Ferguson

thetwounfortunates 10 November @ 04:13 AM EST
Darren Ferguson's inconceivable departure from London Road is a sad indictment of the times. Chief among those feeling sympathy for the departed Scot will be another son of famous heritage, Nigel Clough. "A talented Dad doth not a talented son make" will be the mantra and just as Ferguson Junior's sterling work in shepherding Posh through the divisions will now be forgotten, so will those golden Click to continue reading...

Stand Up! – Previewing Scum

All Four One, and One Four All! 30 October @ 10:00 AM EST

Enough Liverpool bashing has been done to keep me sated for a month now. There are only so many Voronin jokes and beach ball jokes you can make before it gets a bit stale. Fortunately for us Arsenal fans, fresh meat has arrived in the form of the scum. North London derbies are always a special occasion (if you're an Arsenal fan all the more so, barring the one obvious time).

Unanswered Questions – Title Challengers

Premiership Talk Blog 07 October @ 09:39 AM EST

Two weeks ago ex-Manchester United and Millwall player Eamon Dunphy wrote that this year's title would be fought out between Man United and Chelsea after the Manchester derby.

Two weeks later a lot has changed. United perform poorly against Sunderland and this Monday Dunphy states it's going to be a battle between Arsenal and Chelsea.

Quarter 1 Report Card: New Club Managers

Premiership Talk Blog 05 October @ 12:09 PM EST

With the first quarter of football almost over in most leagues around Europe, now is a good time to measure the current progress of some of the giant clubs on the continent. Actually, analyzing the success or failure of clubs in general won't be nearly as exciting as identifying a more specific object of analysis.

Movie Review – The Damned United

EPL Talk 05 October @ 05:00 AM EST

There is a thin line between being a mad genius and simply being mad. If Brian Clough was the mad genius of English football, the new film The Damned United explores Clough's simply mad stage when he got fired at Derby County and then, after 44 days in charge of Leeds United, got himself dismissed there as well.

Nicklas Bendtner: ‘Accidentally’ Slammed

Premiership Talk Blog 01 October @ 10:09 AM EST

The title to this article might suggest that I am providing some late coverage on Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner's recent car accident while driving to practice in his Aston Martin. In reality, though, this article is written in vehement defense of the player, who has certainly had more than his fair share of critics, to put it bluntly.

Derby Day!

AEK Archives 23 September @ 10:47 AM EST

Decent match preview here. We've had a bit of a bad run lately, so it's hard not to be nervous. But if our lads show up to play, there is no question we are the better team.

United 4 - City 3 - Match Highlights

The Offside: Manchester United 21 September @ 07:40 AM EST

With the wealth of options at the disposal of both Manchester United and Manchester City, who would have that that it would end up 4-3 with five total goals coming from Michael Owen, Craig Bellamy, and Darren Fletcher? The injury time question may linger, but for me this was the real start of the season.

How To Win Fans, By Mickey Owen

The Offside 20 September @ 12:24 PM EST
What a Manchester Derby. Man United took the lead three times, only to find local rivals Man City come back three times, at least untill the 95th minute, where Michael Owen forever endeared himself to the Man United support by popping up with a last gasp goal. An absolute sucker punch for City, whose spirit [. Click to continue reading...

Inter recorded one of their best ever derby day wins today against rivals Milan today, as they waltzed to a 4-0 victory. No Stopping Tottenham

Premiership Talk Blog 24 August @ 12:20 AM EST

Jermain Defoe yesterday scored his fourth goal of the season to help Tottenham move back to the top of the Premier League table. Harry Redknapp's men came through a tricky London derby with West Ham to maintain their 100% record this season and I think it's fair to say now that Tottenham will be challenging for a Champions League spot come the end of May.

One More Day Folks.

AEK Archives 22 August @ 07:26 AM EST

So, only one more day of waiting before the big game, the one game we all wait for all summer. AEK-Olympiakos, one of the most well known fixtures in Greek football. Unfortunately though, and as much as I hate to say it, I think our chances of winning are very slim. The best result I can see for us is a draw.
