United.
Stat Attack: The Real Value Of Sergio Aguero - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Sergio Aguero has been a long-term target for both Manchester City and Real Madrid for the past
few months, ever since the Argentine announced his intentions to leave Atletico Madrid back in May.
Manchester City see him as an ideal replacement for Carlos Tevez, and someone who is much less of a
problem off the pitch.
Anyone up for watching five matches today?
We're nearing the end of the lull between the end of the European club season and the start of
the major international tourney of this summer (Copa America, which starts a week from Friday) but
the three remaining competitions we've been tracking converge today, yielding up five matches to
watch: the semifinal matches in both the UEFA U21 European Champions and the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and
the 2nd leg of the Copa Libertadores final between Santos and Peñarol.
Luis García has signed a three-year contract to coach Getafe, replacing Míchel who was fired
after last season's 16th place finish in La Liga.
Garcia is one of the rising stars in Spanish coaching circles after winning promotion to the top
division with Levante in 2009/10, and then securing his side's survival in the last game of the
following campaign.
La Liga Lowdown, Jornada 38: Super Depor say goodbye is a post from: Just Football
The curtains closed on another season in La Liga on Saturday night after a tense final day at
the bottom. With Almería and Hércules already down, there was
just one place left to fill, and six teams all fighting to the death to avoid it Mallorca, Osasuna,
Real Sociedad, Zaragoza, Getafe, Deportivo.
Cristiano Ronaldo set a new La Liga single-season scoring record with his 39th and 40th of the
campaign for Real Madrid against Almeria.
He notched his first after four minutes and his second on 77 as Real thumped their
already-relegated opponents 8-1.
His double meant he moved two clear of the previous mark, which he jointly held with Real's Hugo
Sanchez and Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra.
The excitement of the last round of the 2010-11 Spanish league was all about who would be relegated
together with Almería and Hercules. It is perhaps telling about how poor the Spanish league is
(outside the top 2), that in the last few rounds, up to eight teams were fighting relegation! While
there are 21 points between teams number 2 (Real Madrid) and 3 (Valencia), there are only 19 points
No changes in the Bonus Points this week so there aren't any huge moves in the rankings. That may
change this week after the Copa Libertadores reaches the semifinal stages and the South American
clubs hit the Super Bonus Point stage, but again, that's next week.
This week is a celebration of championships.

The Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has compared Manchester United to Real Madrid ahead of his side's
Champions League final meeting with United at Wembley this month.
Barça, like United, have won their domestic title and can now focus on the London final on 28 May.
The match is a repeat of the 2009 final, which Barça won 2-0 after a dominant display in
Rome.
Cristiano Ronaldo hit a hat-trick in a 4-0 win against Getafe as Real Madrid ensured FC
Barcelona were not crowned Liga champions without kicking a ball.
The Portugal forward, who scored four times in a 6-2 triumph at Sevilla on Saturday, rounded off
another convincing victory for the Merengues with an added-time penalty, his 36th league goal this
season.
La Liga Lowdown, Jornada 34: Thrills at the bottom as the big boys lose out is a post from: Just
Football
Barcelona lost. Real Madrid lost. When was the last time you heard that after a weekend in La
Liga? Well, let me tell you: 2009. It's been two years since they both succumbed to defeat in the
same round of games, so Saturday's events came as a bit of a shock.
La Liga Lowdown, Jornada 32: Ronaldo saves Real Madrid in El Clásico showdown is a post from:
Just Football
This weekend saw the series opener of a scheduled four clásicos between La Liga's top

La Liga Lowdown, Jornada 24: Complications at Camp Nou but Barcelona still top is a post from:

Barcelona were given another tough game by Athletic Bilbao
this weekend, but overcame the Basques to remain five points clear of nearest rivals Real
Madrid.
Der Spanier Daniel Aranzubia, Torwart von Deportivo La Coruña, kämpft mit seinem Verein in der
Primera División gegen den Abstieg. Als er in der 94. Minute alles auf eine Karte setzt und sich

Barcelona restored their five-point advantage over Real Madrid CF thanks to a 2-1 win against
Athletic Bilbao.
Beaten in midweek by Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie,
Barcelona took only four minutes to settle back into their stride at the Camp Nou. David Villa
provided the finish, and although Athletic levelled five minutes after half-time through Andoni
Iraola's penalty, Lionel Messi made the difference with his 25th league goal this season 12 minutes
before the end.

The headlines emanating from Bilbao have had little to do with Athletic's white-hot form, as the
rumors swirling around Fernando Llorente's future destination have blanketed this historic club.
Tottenham Hotspur has been the main culprit of the Llorente saga, originally offering €30
million, but after Athletic rejected the bid, they upped the ante to an astronomical €38.

Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos y ahora
Rivaldo (38).
El
Sao Paulo anunció el fichaje (a préstamo por seis meses y opción a un año) y así
Rivaldo deja al club de sus inicios, el
Mogi Mirim, sin presidente (10 goles en 30
partidos).
Karim Benzema made the difference for Real Madrid as the capital side defeated Mallorca 1-0 to
stay within four points of Barcelona at the Spanish Liga summit.
With Barcelona showing no signs of relaxing their formidable rhythm on Saturday, Madrid sought a
return to winning ways at the Santiago Bernabéu to keep pressure on the champions.
Not many changes in this week's WCR Top 25. Real Madrid dropped a few points; I'm not sure why
because its Copa Del Rey loss doesn't factor into the ranking process. Lazio and Tottenham dropped
a few points, but those both make more sense since both those clubs suffered disappoint domestic
league losses during the week.
As we continue to gear up to full action, we do have some high profile matches this weekend for
your viewing enjoyment. First off, let's discuss who is back. At midweek, Serie A came back in
Italy and Primera Division will return in Mexico on Friday night. La Liga had already returned,
there is cup action in France and England this weekend and Portugal's Liga Sagres is back on ESPN3
on Sunday.
Deportivo La Coruña and holders Sevilla moved into the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey on a
night when Josep Guardiola saw his Barcelona squeak through on away goals.
Having been frustrated by Athletic Bilbao in a goalless first leg two weeks ago, Barcelona once
again found their opponents difficult to break down.
We're not there yet, but we certainly are approaching full strength, with the top three leagues
in the world all in action this week. The top matches of the week include Wednesday's match between
Manchester City and Arsenal and Sunday's matches between Real Madrid/Villarreal and
Napoli/Juventus.
There's really not much change in the rankings from two weeks ago. The changes that there are
derive from movement at the top of the table in the English Premier League. There also has been
action in the past two weeks in the Portuguese League Cup and the Spanish Primera Division but the
Portuguese League Cup doesn't affect the rankings and the top of the Spanish Primera Division table
never changes.
