There's a story about David Bentley. When he went to Norwich on loan from Arsenal they were in a
training session and he, thinking he was some kind of comedic genius, belted the ball straight up
into the air and said 'ave it!', like Peter Kay in that ad for John Smiths. Nobody thought it was
funny, least of the all Norwich manager.
Hopefully you're still feeling a warm glow from Saturday's impressive win over Blackburn
Rovers.
It has certainly calmed some of the pitchfork-and-torch brigade who were on the march after the
0-0 at Bolton.
They may not have had the imagination or panache to use pitchforks and torches, but they had
their bin bags and were still determined to march on Castle Emirates and demand the head of Baron
von Wengerstein.

Arsenal legends Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams are squaring up for a head-to-head clash – with
the winner securing a coaching role at the Emirates.
The former Gunners are frontrunners to replace Steve Bould within the coaching staff at the club
at the end of the season.
Bould is poised to replace the retiring Pat Rice as Arsene Wenger's No.

In which former Arsenal saint Dennis Bergkamp rattles off a beautiful first-timer, latching onto
Frank De Boer's (not a bad coaching set-up they've got there!) enticing cross-field arc during an
Ajax training session yesterday afternoon.
Granted, it's not the finest goal he's ever scored and it's not really the finest camera angle
of 'not the finest goal he's ever scored' but it's Bergkamp, and I'm all over anything that
graceful Dutch silkworm does like a sticky paste.

Birth certificates don't serve much of a purpose these days. Everybody has one and after they're
put away in the bedroom drawer they're not really needed until you start dealing with government
bureaucrats years later. But when Thierry Henry's the subject of conversation everybody's suddenly
interested in his birth date, which was Aug.

It's official, Thierry Henry is back with the Gunners. The 34 year old put pen to paper and
signed a 2 month load deal with Arsenal that will see him make a sensational come back to the club
that launched him to super stardom.
Even more interesting is the fact that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has included him in his
squad that will face AC Milan in the Champions League knock out stages.

If you'll excuse the pun and read on...
Over a number of years, football has played with systems and tried to define formations while
the brains on the bench tell us that their players aren't confined to a sole set of instructions,
but taking a look at the Premier League this season, it's looking increasingly more like target men
are the focal point of most sides at this moment in time.
As you may have gathered I am a stubborn and grumpy individual at times, personally I am not a fan
of what Christmas has become over time, I am not remotely religious either, other than a few
moments when I believed Dennis Bergkamp to be the messiah (no offence intended to all those of you
with a religion other than the Church of Bergkamp).
Established: 1900
Nickname: de Godenzonen (the sons of the Gods)
Stadium: Amsterdam ArenA (capacity 52,342)
2010-2011 position: Champions
Current position: 4th
Top scorer: Miralem Sulejmani (10 goals in 14 games in the league this season)
Top talent: Christian Eriksen
Coaching team: Frank de Boer (manager) and Dennis Bergkamp (assistant manager)
European success: European Cup (4), Cup Winners' Cup (1), UEFA Cup (1) and UEFA
Super Cup (2).
In English football history two teams have in the past gone unbeaten throughout a league season.
The team in most recent memory is the Arsenal side of 2003/04.
That Arsenal side registered 26 wins and 12 draws for the campaign and played almost double the
games the previous invincible side (Preston North End 1888/89) had played.
Arsenal legend Martin Keown was full of praise for former strikers Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry
Henry as he confessed that his first meeting with Arsene Wenger wasn't really, very friendly.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Englishman ...
Having yet to play a part for Arsenal this season, Jack Wilshere, looks set to make things up
for his club, although not anytime soon but the England international midfielder promised the fans
they will see much of him in the future as Wilshere pledged his loyalty to the club.
Answering a question from the media about his future with the London outfit, Wilshere
convincingly stated that he has no plan to play for any other clubs aside from his current one.
Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere has pledged to remain with the Gunners for life. The forward who
is out with an ankle injury also explained how much he hoped to part of the new wave of Arsenal
players along with team mates Aaron Ramsey and Kieran Gibbs who will take the club to greater
heights.
Robin Van Persie, the Dutch striker whom Arsenal bought from Feyenoord for a little under £3
million pounds, has developed into the most important player at the Emirates. Whilst before he was
behind Thierry Henry, and even the likes of Juan Antonio Reyes, in the Arsenal pecking order he has
now become the fundamental part and bedrock of this Arsene Wenger side.
Because nicknames are.... bad names, yeah? Footballers are often an unintelligent bunch, but
occasionally they have sparks of innovation and create amusing nicknamesfor their peers. When this
is cobined with the dry humour of fans and pundits, the results are impressive. Here are ten of the
best from the Premier League: 10.
The goal scorer and the muffler
Not quite the class of the goal that Dennis Bergkamp scored but it was a goal that was enough to
send us top of the group with a point ahead of the beaten side, Marseille. Another one of those
where the result was more important than the performance. 5 wins out of 6 games now and that is
momentum building.
Who wants to give me a helping hand?
Arsenal heads to the south of France to continue our Champions League adventure. This is the
first of 2 back-to-back matches against Marseille. Stade Velodrome will provide the backdrop for
this encounter and this is the same pitch where Dennis Bergkamp scored that immaculate goal for
Holland against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.
Video goals, highlights, reaction
The best and the worst of Arsenal were on display yesterday, which is par for the course these
days, but the influence and quality of captain Robin van Persie ensured we took three invaluable
points.
The first 20-25 minutes were a taste of what this Arsenal side has the potential to do when
their tails are up and the confidence starts to flow.
Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie bagged a brace as a misfiring Arsenal side overcame Sunderland 2-1
at the Emirates Stadium leading to heaped praise from boss Arsene Wenger. Signed as a highly
talented yet petulant young forward from Feyenoord in 2004, a wide-eyed Robin Van Persie admitted
that he dreamt of making Arsenal history like [.
It is clearly evident that during recent months the red and white armoury has come under intense
pressure, with many even questioning whether "Arsene Wenger is the right man for Arsenal Football
Club?".
A few years ago such a question would have been responded with laughter, yet today critics and
many Arsenal fans find themselves pondering on the very thought of Arsenals greatest manager being
replaced.
Earlier this week, Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp told the Daily Mail that Robin van Persie should
be utilised in a much deeper role, at Arsenal. Asked to comment about this during yesterday's press
conference, manager Arsene ...
Mertesacker gets a helping hand from a returning player
Aren't we all glad that it's finally over. The last round of internationals for the season. Of
course there will still be stoppages here and there for friendlies as teams prepares their sides
for the upcoming Euro 2012. However, that will a 3 days get-together instead of a full 10 12 days
break.

I started thinking about this question again in the wake of some recent comments by Dennis
Bergkamp about what's going on at Arsenal. He stated his views about tactics, a need for a true
goal scorer, and Patrick Vieira. Naturally, this led a few writers to wonder if Bergkamp would be a
good future manager at Arsenal.
‘We cannot allow ourselves to indulge in sadness and
melancholy'
Andrey Arshavin, December 2010 (after MU away game)
With the departure of Cesc Fabregas and the long-term injury to Jack Wilshere, Arsenal is left
with a hole, in more ways than one.

Food for thought:
In football we can simply learn from the best, but how do we and are we able to do it quickly
enough in each town/city across Australia?
The way they are developed is fascinating, as Bergkamp explains. 'We don't just
classify our players by age, we divide them into three 'wheels' depending on how much they have
grown.
See that ugly, hideous, deformed creature over there? No, not Tevez. Beyond that. Moving away
into the distance? Yeah. That one. That's the final Interlull of 2011. It's not too late to pick up
some stones and throw them at it, calling it names as it departs to its filthy lair, some
hibernation on the cards before it resurfaces next year.
Singing for your contract Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp has revealed his 11-year stint at the club
was due in no small part to the Eurovision Song Contest. The Dutchman has revealed he has to thank
Ireland's Johnny Logan, whose track What's Another Year? one Eurovision in 1980, for maintaining
his longevity at Highbury.
Good morning from the wesht of Ireland again.
To the people who emailed me yesterday asking why there was no Arshavin content in the blog
despite the title, well, I just meant it was a little short. As you might imagine there is a
similar dearth of material today, just like yesterday, and today's blog could be Time Bandit
sized.
Today all Gooners must do their duty. They must recall the greatness of the past and temporarily
cast aside the divisions that recently have weakened the Arsenal Faith. If you feel that you can't
then let me try to get you to understand why you support this club. What ever your age, I want you
to recall the Arsenal Legends for whom a day like this was the day to sweat blood for the
cause.
I take you back to the 94/95 season. Arsenal finished 12th in the Premier League. 6 points
fewer, and they would have been relegated. It was a season riddled with scandal, with George Graham
being sacked for accepting bribes and Paul Merson famously breaking down and admitting his cocaine
and alcohol addiction.
Morning all,
it's still all about Robin van Persie this morning. Predictably there's talk about his 100 goals
and his ability as a player but also, quite predictably, the issue of his contract status has come
up. We'll start with the good stuff though and Arsene has compared Robin to Lionel Messi.
