It has been a fair few years since Arsenal had a significant number of Brazilian players in the squad, the last time we had a decent contingent of Brazilians was in the days of Gilberto Silva and Edu. When those two players were in the team, we were extremely successful but that wasn't because of them it was to do with the team as a whole.
Arsenal look set to let go one of the many ‘deadwood' players we have at the club this summer in Brazilian midfielder Denilson. Denilson is currently on loan in his homeland Brazil with Sao Paulo and they have today spoken about their willingness to sign the player to a permanent deal.
It was the start of the 2011/12 season. Captain Cesc Fabregas, one of our most talented Arsenal midfielders ever, and the man that the team was built around, had left to join Barcelona. Samir Nasri, coming off an excellent previous season, had gone to Manchester City, Jack Wilshere, England's great hope, was injured (for what we later discovered would last all season), Abou Diaby was injured.

Arsenal's famous list of "deadwood" players seems to get bigger every year, but for some reason we can never get anyone to actually buy them off us and we have to struggle to send them out on loan every year. But we still do have some talented players out there that have a chance of coming back and becoming first team players of the future.
Arsene Wenger said yesterday one of the main things for Arsenal to do now was to hold on to the players we have got. After releasing Marouane Chamakh and Johan Djourou on loan, Wenger says he will not let anybody else leave until he has some new recruits to replace them.
I hope he does not include the Brazilian midfielder, Denilson, in that statement, because he is already on loan at Sao Paulo on Brazil and it seems that the club and the player are keen to make it permanent.
Most Arsenal fans probably believed they had seem the last of the 24-year old Brazilian midfielder Denilson. He had fallen out of favour in his last few seasons at the Emirates and we would gladly have sold him if we could. Arsene Wenger was glad to allow him to spend all season on loan at his first club, Sao Paulo, and was hoping that the Brazilian club would decide to make the move permanent.
On loan at Sao Paulo from Arsenal, Denilson scored an absolute screamer, his first for the club, in their 3-0 win over Palmeiras at the weekend humping the ball in off the stanchion from 40 yards out...
Denilson later thanked his mother, who passed away in 1998, for her assistance:
"She and God helped me a lot, especially with that shot.
Arsenal have released their accounts which are looking pretty good, showing that Arsene Wenger should have a decent war chest to spend in January. Another interesting thing apparent from the figures is the news that the club have given up any hope of ever selling the South Korean international striker, Park Chu-Young.
There will not be many Arsenal fans that will be happy that a certain Sebastien Squillaci is still
in training with the club after the transfer window deadline has come and gone. Arsenal failed to
find buyers for Nicklas Bendtner or Chu-Young Park, but at least they have been sent out on loan to
Juventus [.
Milan spark interest in Denilson by TS So after today's disappointing result against Stoke, we have
to wonder whether an established striker should now be on AW's mind. However, that's another
article altogether. Perhaps, the likes of this topic( If it comes to be) will inspire AW to invest
in another striker.
Arsene Wenger has stated that he needs to sell some players before he is able to do any more
recruiting. There are a number of players that Arsenal are trying to move on, including Nicklas
Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh, Denilson, Squillachi, Arshavin and Park Chu-Young. Hopefully Wenger can
prepare to sign somebody, because the Danish international [.
Any chance there's a monster of a player waiting to come out?
Still pissed over the RvP thing? Yeah, well so am I. But if you're on any social network, this
topic probably has been discussed to the death and all points exhausted. Thus I'm not going to
touch it on here. Whatever happens, happens.
Arsenal are struggling to make room for new signings by BA Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have done
great work in the transfer market this summer. Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud are great
acquisitions and Gooners are even looking forward to next season with confidence. What worries me
is that we have not managed to offload [.
Brazilian midfielder Denilson is very much a part of Arsenal's plans next season, according to
Sao Paulo, who had loaned the youngster last season.
Denilson, 24, reportedly shares a mutual interest with the Brazilian club to turn the loan into
a permanent switch but given that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger needs midfield depth next season, he
is being called back by the Premier League side.
Don't shoot the messenger, but the news coming from Brazil are telling us that Sao Paulo are
struggling to keep Denilson because Arsenal want him back. I thought we were trying to get rid of
the dead wood. The next thing you know, Arsene Wenger will be offering him a new contract. The
24-year old [..
We'll start at the Euros where Germany dropped Podolski, Muller and Gomez and still beat Greece
4-2. Thankfully this means an end to any economic/austerity/credit 'jokes' and for that I think we
should all be grateful. It also showed the strength in depth the Germans have and they are a great
team to watch.
Morning. I thought I'd check into the old place after what I can assure is the longest I have
ever let this blog go fallow – three days short of a calendar month. If I leave it three days
longer I'm eligible for CAP subsidies, I think.
It's not quite like I put the dustsheets on because it wasn't as planned as that, but I downed
tools after the season ended and never felt like picking them up again.
Fringe players departing Arsenal P1 by KJ Arsenal have been very positive in the transfer market
already with the signing of Podolski as well as Wenger confirming himself that Giroud to Arsenal is
90% done. There are also strong links with the French defensive midfielder, Yann M'Vila who
confirmed his liking towards Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has been very active in the transfer market bringing in some excellent additions to
the arsenal squad, but it seems he is not having as much luck at getting rid of our out-of-favour
peripheral players so far. It was hoped that both Andrei Arshavin and Denilson would be staying at
their loan clubs [.
After initially ousting Jens Lehmann between the posts for Arsenal, Spanish 'keeper Manuel
Almunia never really impressed enough to secure the no.1 jersey for the Gunners. Now, after
spending over a season on the sidelines, the 35-year-old has finally been released by Arsene
Wenger.
Arsene Wenger must be gutted that Denilson has failed to secure a permanent move to Brazilian side
Sao Paolo. The on loan Arsenal midfielder had impressed at the club and talks were ongoing but have
now collapsed. Arsenal, who are 10/1 in the Premier League betting for next season, already have
too many midfielders and [.
Denilson Coming Back To London By JG I'm not entirely sure how I missed this piece of information,
but on the 25th of this month, Arsenal and Sao Paulo could not come to an agreement concerning the
Arsenal loanee Denilson. This is what Denilson had to say to the press in regards to the situation:
[..
The Arsenal midfielder Denilson is currently on loan at Sao Paulo in Brazil after stating last
summer that he had no desire to play for Arsenal any longer. Arsenal though failed to find a buyer
for the disaffected 24 year-old and he returned to his old club back in Brazil as a loanee but his

Some good news or bad (depending on how you take it) for all Arsenal fans. Brazilian midfielder
Denilson is expected back at the club in the summer after a deal to extend his loan spell with Sao
Paolo fell through.
The 24 year old's career with Arsenal seemed o be over however, after failing to reach an
agreement with Sao Paolo, Denilson is expected back in London ahead of the 2012/2013 season.
You can't win the league and the Champions League every year. Five out of the last six of those
isn't bad, with a few other smaller trophies thrown in and the possibility of another Copa del Rey
still to come this season. However, second in the league and a semi-final exit to an inferior team
is being widely regarded as a failure, maybe even a disaster, for Barcelona this season.
The players that will leave and come in next season Part 1 by KJ An interesting comment by

Arsenal's loaned-out midfilder Denilson is highly likely not to return to Arsenal despite his loan
with Brazilian side Sao Paolo is due to expire in the summer. The Brazilian club's vice-president
Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes has declared that they are more than interested in keeping Denilson. "Our
conversation was that we have every interest [.
So, who exactly makes up Arsenal's ‘deadwood': by SV It is accepted by almost all Arsenal fans
that there is deadwood in our team that needs clearing out in order to free up space both
financially and in terms of squad size for new, more useful signings. I thought that I'd use
today's [...]
Other than the usual rumours and speculation it's been a pretty slow few days news-wise with the
exception of Arsene Wenger supposedly cleaning house in the offseason when several players are
possibly going to be sent packing. These include the likes of Manuel Almunia, Nicklas Bendtner,
Marouane Chamakh, Andrei Arshavin, Sebastien Squillaci, Carlos Vela, Denilson, and perhaps Park
Ju-Young.
The line "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that" comes to mind when listening to
Arsene Wenger in today's post-match press conference.
"I must say we will do anything to keep him. I cannot say much more because I have said that
many times," said the manager, who was adament he would keep Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri last
summer.
Hello everyone and welcome to midweek. The evenings are getting longer, shame it's still as cold as ... er ... I was gonna say hell, but that doesn't really work.
Unless hell is modified for each person so, for example, someone that really doesn't like the cold finds their own hell is a freezing place where people with icy hands leap out from behind trees and plant them in the small of your back.
Good day to you. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and all remains quiet in the world
of Arsenal.
Many of our players are now away with their countries ahead of Euro 2012. There's a list on the
official site here so you can see who you're supposed to be fretting about for the duration of the
tournament.

Major League Soccer used to be dismissed by European leagues
and fans alike. It was considered the conservative, risk-averse younger brother of the older, more
free-spirited leagues of Europe.
With the summer dilated to 6cm and the 2012/13 Premier League season beginning to crown, we
thought we'd have a timely look forward at the new boys we're eager to see in action proper come
August...
1. Gylfi Sigurdsson, Tottenham - Siggy played for Spurs, jammin' good with Bale
and Gallas and the Spiders from Mars.
