USSoccerPlayers 24 September @ 06:19 PM EST
US National Team and Watford defender has recovered from the groin injury he suffered during preparations for the US World Cup Qualifier in Utah a few weeks ago, but he has an eye injury that could require surgery. "It was a freak thing," Demerit told Yanks-Abroad.com. "We were in our hotel and as I took out my contact, I cut my eye and I ended up getting an infection from that cut. Which Team is Better – 2002 or 2009?

Major League Soccer Talk 16 September @ 10:19 AM EST

There has been some talk lately about how the USMNT has regressed from its best teams of the past decade – that a lack of veteran leadership has made this team shakier and that Bob Bradley is making do with a hand full of poor cards. I don't believe that to be the case. The current US team has as much potential as the 2002 World Cup quarterfinalists, and if they can catch some of the same breaks as that 2002 team, they can go just as far if not farther.

USA vs. Mexico: Matchday Preview

Soccer By Ives 12 August @ 09:43 AM EST

  Â

"It's on our list of things to do."

With an uncharacteristic smirk on his face and confidence in his voice, Bob Bradley uttered those words back in February when asked about the U.S. national team winning in Mexico. The Americans had just defeated Mexico in Columbus and Bradley had every reason to feel confident about his team's chances of coming to Mexico and recording the team's first victory on American soil.

USMNT Projected 2010 World Cup roster

DCUMD 30 July @ 06:06 AM EST

What's left to say about the Gold Cup that hasn't already been said? We had four strong matches, and then one epic failure. It's clear that the 5-0 loss to Mexico weighs more heavily on our hearts than any of the previous victories, but fortunately we have only a few weeks to wait before we get the chance for revenge.

Brazil 3-2 USA – Brazil Confederations Cup winners 2009

Pitaco do gringo's Brazilian football blog 28 June @ 08:47 PM EST

Brazil celebrate

Brazil picked up their third Confederations Cup after coming back from two goals down against the United States.

The USA took a shock lead when Dempsey's snap shot caught out Brazil's static defence on the 10th minute.

With 27 minutes on the clock, the US doubled the score after a superb counterattacking move from their own half, ended with Donovan outfoxing Ramires before hitting a perfect shot past Júlio César.

USA 2-0 Spain - Goals (Videos)

SoccerLens 24 June @ 07:54 PM EST

The USA defeated European champions Spain 2-0 to proceed to the 2009 Confederations Cup final. Goals from Altidore and Dempsey gave the Americans the 'shock' win, while at the back a solid performance by DeMerit and Onyewu ensured that Spain didn't get much of a chance to get something out of this game.

Match Preview: 6.21.09 vs. Egypt

Project 2010 21 June @ 01:15 PM EST

The final first round games are about to kick off, so we thought we'd throw our ideal lineup out there. If for no other reason, it will give us the right to say "I told you so" in the event of a loss today. If we win, on the other hand, we will obviously never speak of this again.

Altidore Davies
Donovan
Torres Adu
-Bradley
Bocanegra DeMerit Onyewu Spector

I'm so late with this post that they've probably already announced the actual lineups, but I'm going to post this anyway.

Still mad, just clarifying

Fighting Talker 16 June @ 07:21 AM EST
Don't get me wrong, I am still pissed as hell at the US, but let me clarify some things here.
I am well aware that many if not most of our players are simply not good enough to allow for us to compete with truly good teams. Trust me, I get it. This brings me to my next point.
What infuriates me most is that Bradley's US team appears to be an accountability-free zone. Click to continue reading...

I talked myself into the United States getting a draw against Italy (maybe even winning) but all my hope burst out of me when Clark was ejected in the 32nd minute.
