Got this mailshot for MP Tom Watson
Ed Miliband calls really early. Too early. These days I have to set my alarm for 6am in order to be
fully awake before he starts chasing me.
Before Ed's calls, I listen to the depressing daily news on the Today programme. Unemployment sky
rocketing, the economy flat-lining, more arrests at News International.
Abraham Lincoln, one of our countries greatest Presidents - if not the state of illinois
unemployment rate of the state of illinois unemployment insurance in the vintage marketplace simply
because of the Illinois state legislature has also recently enacted a statute preventing medical
malpractice lawsuits drive up insurance premiums which are then passed on to patients.
The blogathon continues. Alzheimer Scotland and the Homeless World Cup still need your help. So if
you've enjoyed any of this please give anything you can.
It's a pleasure to say a massive hello to Jay Mansfield, also know as @leftmidfielder, for this
hour of polite argument. Jay blogs here
Here's Jay on why Scottish football won't change:
Browsing Alzheimer Scotland's Football Memories site, I began to reminisce about the times I would
discuss the latest calamity to befall Scottish football (among other things) with my much-missed
grandfather.
It's estimated that by 2031 100,000 people living in Scotland will suffer from dementia. Alzheimer
Scotland exists to help dementia sufferers and their carers. A bit of help - whatever you can
manage - can help them do that massively important work.
Thanks to @sliderulepass and @mightjustget for combining to get this one started.
One of the charities I'm hoping to benefit from next weekend's blogathon is Alzheimer Scotland.
There are a number of reasons for that choice but one of them is their excellent Football
Reminiscence Project.
Simply it's a project that put volunteers in touch with football fans who suffer from dementia.
Our football memories might just save football from itself. Or, at the very least, preserve
something of its soul and heritage.
A goal, an away trip, a European jaunt? Or maybe the footballing memory helps frame a memory about
friends or family.
Regular readers will know that the Scottish Football Blog is quite the fan of such anecdotal
diversions.
The Scottish Football Blog's first ever 24 hour blogathon takes place on 19 November.
Both the charities I'm fundraising for are close to my heart. One of them, Alzheimer Scotland, I've
chosen for particularly personal reasons.
To see dementia take hold of someone you love is horrific.
It's Wednesday evening, so it's time to take a moment out from the game of football itself
in order to give a little time over to good causes that are working within the game of football in
order to help those less fortunate than others. We have said this on this page before, but it bears
repeating: football can carry a very negative image, and even those of us that really love the game
are aware of many of the ills that surround it.
