The transfer window report from business advisory firm Deloitte calculates that Premier League
clubs spent around £60m, a decline of 70 per cent on the record level of £225m in January 2011
(admittedly something of an aberration).
Dan Jones, a partner in the Sports Business Group at Deloitte, saw Uefa's financial fair play
rules as a factor in the comparative restraint of clubs and a more sober level of spending among
Premier League clubs.

Spain's centre-right People's Party said it will push Real Madrid and Barcelona to have more
equitable distribution of income from television rights, according to PP policymaker Miriam
Blasco.
"You have to support the small teams as well, because it's true that the Spanish league would
not exist if it was not working for all the clubs," Blasco, a candidate to become Spain's top
sports official after the election, said in an interview.
Of course, Newcastle United have been riding along on the crest of a wave in our first seven games
in the Premiership, with our unbeaten start currently seeing us in fourth. However we also stand in
fourth place in another table too, that of Premiership debt. According to the table compiled by
Deloitte, Newcastle are [.

Concerns about the financial state of football do not appear to have stopped Premiership clubs
splashing out in the transfer window with total spending of £485m up a third on a year ago,
according to figures from Deloitte. The pattern of increased spending was reproduced over four of
the five top leagues in Europe, Germany being the exception where spending held steady.
This transfer window has involved extreme amounts of rumors. And Capernicus was apparently
wrong, as the whole world revolved and devolved around Cesc.
Now that it's over, we can check the tally and assess the carnage most of which involve Luka
Modric's hopes and dreams and his sense of happy, which is unhappy.
Past celebrations for Blackpool - but how will they cope back in the Championship?
As news broke today that the Premiership has once again generated record income (breaking the
£2 BILLION barrier), it got me thinking about how this money would be received lower down the
leagues. The Championship is supposedly a bigger league than Serie A, drawing larger audiences and
seeing more goals, and with ex-Premier League teams with big catchment areas such as Leeds,
Southampton, and Nottingham Forest, this is hardly much of a surprise.
The proportion of income that Premier League clubs spend on wages hit a record 68% in 2009-10, a
report into football finances by Deloitte says.
A report from accountancy firm Deloitte has just been released, and Newcastle United are getting
some good press. Mike Ashley Newcastle United owner Newcastle were relegated from the Premier
League in May of 2009, and in the following season, the Championship experienced an increase in
both crowds and revenue, almost completely due to Newcastle [.
Robert Peston from the BBC has concluded the following from the latest Deloitte annual
review:
- If you combine spending per unit of output with success in winning trophies, there is no doubt
that Alex Ferguson is incomparably the most successful manager in the UK. United's wage bill per
Premier League point is £1.
The collective turnover of the English Premier League clubs hit a record £2.03 billion in the
2009-10 season and is expected to exceed £2.2 billion in the 2010-11 campaign, according to
Deloitte Sports Business Group's 20th Annual Review of Football Finance. In comparison, the total
European football market grew to a record £13.

The third installment of this season's 'El Clasico' match-up between Real Madrid and Barcelona
could have been renamed 'El Fiasco'. Depending on your outlook, it may have been surprising to see
Jose Mourinho's Madrid squad setup with such bullying tactics. Both coaches had strong words for
one another in the press conference so I was not surprised that the atmosphere was tense.
Plymouth Argyle are languishing at the bottom of League 1, ten points having been deducted by the
Football League for an ‘insolvency event', giving notice of their intention to appoint
administrators.Players have not been paid since November and their debts are estimated at £13m.
Yet in 2008 they finished 10th in the Championship, had posted a £1.

CHAMONIX/LONDON Real Madrid won nothing last year yet they continue to top the table of the world's
richest clubs in the annual revenue assessment undertaken by accountant Deloitte. This is the sixth

champions Barcelona are second followed by Manchester United [.

Deloitte have published their yearly list of the top 20 revenue-earning football clubs in the

that is hardly surprising, and as we reported last year at this time when Newcastle were 20th in

For the sixth consecutive year, Real Madrid claims top spot as the world's largest football club
according to this measure. Real is now just two years short of matching Manchester United's eight
year reign from 1996/97, the first edition of the Money League, through to 2003/04. FC Barcelona
retains second place ahead of Manchester United, making it a Spanish one-two for the second
successive year.
You may have already seen that Deloitte has just published the annual Football Money League
report and, as I speculated might happen in a post on last year's report, Villa have just snuck
back into the top 20 for the first time in several years.
The report is always an interesting read, but lately I've found that it gives us an early
glimpse of Aston Villa's revenue ahead of the official accounts being filed.
When Deloitte release their annual list of 'Richest Football Clubs', there's plenty of debate on
English football's earning power, the individual TV deals negotiated by Real Madrid and Barcelona,
Manchester United's position at the top of the Premier League food chain, insane amounts of debt in
the game, and so on.
Welcome to the annual announcement of "Look how rich Real and Barcelona are!" Only this
year...! Nope, same thing.
There are several ways of getting on this list, either directly or indirectly:
marketing/branding, sugarpeople (mamas or papas), trophies, little gnomes which print money in the
training ground basement, smartly placed academies and even nurtured sports betting.
Deloitte, an accountancy firm from Great Britain announced the top 20 highest earning football
clubs.
Here are the list of football clubs and its corresponding revenue.
1. Real Madrid £359.1m
2. Barcelona £325.9m
3. Man United £286.
Real Madrid have topped the league table of the world's 20 richest football clubs for the sixth
straight year, according to Deloitte.
Its Football Money League, based on season 2009-10, also said the combined revenues of the 20
clubs had passed 4bn euros (£3.8bn) for the first time.
Real's arch-rivals Barcelona retained second spot in the list, ahead of Manchester United who
remain third.
