Sidereal has looked into Shots Plus/Minus in the past, and now we will have it updated on a
semi-frequent basis. Due to the limits of available data these are for MLS games
only. Data is collected from MLSsoccer.com. These are only additional statistics to
measure a player's value.
The Philadelphia Union, specifically midfielder Justin Mapp, are included, today, in one of
Cracked.com's "Top" list articles.
Mapp, along with a fallen Danny Mwanga and two DC United players, is shown playing a ball
forward in the picture within the article "The 6 Weirdest Free Speech Issues Around The World" on
Cracked.
Something that the Seattle Sounders do has been percolating in the background. It is a thing for
which I have been quite involved. Democracy in Sports is part of the core of this organization, but
has been a very nebulous term. The Alliance Council is looking to change that. Last Saturday we met
with many representatives from ownership, briefly discussed the proposed Constitution, ratified
both unanimously and now await the club to vet it legally as well as provide some clear direction
as to what exactly we can do.
As you may know reading this blog, I've been digging through some of the Opta/Guardian Chalkboards
data on shot and goal creation in the Premiership and I finally had the time to take a quick look
at some of the season totals to update the numbers I reported at the half-season mark.
A quick caveat: the numbers are subject to the definitions of match situations used by
Opta/Guardian Chalkboards, of course.
