Arsenal starlet Francis Coquelin has hailed the locker room impact of legendary on-loan striker
Thierry Henry, insisting that the veteran does not need to be on the pitch all the time to offer
his leadership.
Henry's two-month spell at the Emirates began with a bang as his decisive goal knocked Leeds
United out of the FA Cup but the Frenchman has since been sidelined with injury concerns.

Steven Gerrard recognized the contribution of Craig Bellamy after Liverpool beat Manchester City
3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.
The Reds booked their place in the final against Cardiff by playing out a 2-2 draw with City at
Anfield on Wednesday - to maintain their advantage after a 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium a
fortnight ago.
Manchester City's month of January continued to drop like a lead balloon. Craig Bellamy stuffed
home the decisive goal at Anfield with just over 15 minutes remaining, and Liverpool set up a
Wembley date with Cardiff City in the Carling ...

The current table shows Inter in 5th place yet the Nerazzurri have a greater chance of competing
for the league title than Udinese or Lazio who are currently above them in the standings. Inter's
players have the necessary experience and the quality players to challenge for titles while both
Udinese and Lazio are lacking in terms of experience and the killer instinct needed to win
difficult matches.
The San Jose Earthquakes have snapped up FC Dallas striker Marvin Chavez for allocation money.
The 28-year-old Honduras international scored six goals in 31 appearances for Dallas last season,
having previously played for Victoria and Marathon in his homeland.
He also scored the decisive goal in Dallas' 1-0 victory at Pumas UNAM in the group stage of the
CONCACAF Champions League in August, the first-ever victory by an MLS side in Mexico in any
competition, and has been popular among the soccer betting tips ever since.
Steve Cotterill's search for a goal was to end with nothing again in an increasingly predictable
borefest at the City Ground. Despite 'tweaking a hamstring' in the warm-up Anderson started, only
to be replaced after seven minutes by Garath McCleary, George Boyd ran more in the first half than
he ever did in a Forest shirt, and of course, scored the decisive goal [.
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has dismissed suggestions that Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Premier
League leaders Manchester City has brought the Gunners closer to another season without winning any
silverware.
While Koscielny and his teammates now trail the Citizens by a massive 12 points and also
suffered Carling Cup elimination at home to the same outfit a few days ago, they still have the
Champions League and the FA Cup to fight for.

Liverpool 1-0 Queens Park Rangers | Premier League match report
No controversy, no DVDs required and no work for the Football Association courtesy of Luis
Suárez this weekend; just a decisive goal from him that brought three rare home points for
Liverpool and spared them another interrogation into their forgotten art of finishing.
Raul Meireles is aware of the challenges confronting Chelsea after the West Londoners lost their
second match at home to his former club Liverpool in a span of nine days but the Portuguese
international is happy to be in the English capital.
Meireles followed in the footsteps of Fernando Torres to swap Anfield for Stamford Bridge and
even though the departure of both men drew an almost equally severe wrath from the Reds'
supporters, they have had different reactions to life in London.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is dumbfounded by the heavy criticism heaped at manager Andre
Villas-Boas in the wake of the club's recent struggles, arguing that the manager cannot run on the
pitch and prevent errors made by the players.
Cech's teammate Florent Malouda made the same assertion before the disappointing 2-1 defeat to
Bayer Leverkusen last night but Villas-Boas maintained that he must take the responsibility on his
shoulders.
Landon Donovan scored a clinical decisive goal to guide the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 1-0 win over
the Houston Dynamo in the MLS Cup Final at a sold-out Home Depot Center.
Galaxy, who led the MLS with 19 wins and 67 points from their 34 matches, were worthy winners as
they controlled the match from start to finish on their turf.
Robin van Persie, known fondly as Arsenal's captain 'vantastic', was once again the hero as the
Gunners came from behind to win 2-1 against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
Van Persie struck near the half-hour mark to cancel out Steve Morison's 16th minute opening goal
and then went on to score the decisive goal for Arsene Wenger's side at the hour-mark.
On a day when England manager Fabio Capello missed his son's wedding to be on the touchline for
the visit of World Champions Spain, Frank Lampard rose to the occasion and scored the decisive goal
to guide the Lions to a famous 1-0 win.
It was a hard-fought match at Wembley, with both teams playing with a lot of energy over the
course of the 90 minutes.
After taking all of two years to adapt to the physically and mentally demanding nature of the
English top flight, Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny feels that he is now in the best form of his
life.
Whether it is combating injuries or competing against some of the finest footballers of the
world, the man who rapidly rose through the ranks in France is finally beginning to establish
himself as a top Barclays Premier League defender.
Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed suggestions that Chelsea need to reconsider their aggressive
playing style and insists that attack will remain the best form of defense at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have struggled defensively in recent matches and Villas-Boas was criticized for not
being able to control the temper of his players during last weekend's 1-0 defeat at QPR.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is fully aware that pundits will rip apart Chelsea's deteriorating
defense but the Frenchman believes that today's 5-3 win should be attributed to the offensive
quality of his side.
The Gunners looked shaky themselves on the defensive front but their relentless attack on the
Blues' goal was rewarded with a hat-trick was skipper Robin van Persie as well as a goal apiece for
Andre Santos and Theo Walcott.
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas acknowledges that referring to the unfortunate officiating
against the Blues in recent matches as a conspiracy will only land the club in hot water and is
aware that the media's reaction won't help.
Although Villas-Boas is only in his first season at Stamford Bridge, his current side has been
criticized on many occasions for lacking sportsmanship and complaining about controversial
decisions made by referees.

HARRISON, N.J. - The U.S. men's national team is still a work in progress under new head coach
Jurgen Klinsmann. That much was made obvious during the last two friendlies against Honduras and
Ecuador.
What may have been just as obvious is how well Clint Dempsey is adapting to a new role in the
more attack-oriented system Klinsmann is implementing, even if things aren't perfect yet.
One of the most controversial games in World Cup history just increased and decreased in
controversy simultaneously. That's an achievement in itself.
The 1966 World Cup final was marked by the was-it-or-wasn't-it-over-the-line debate
over Geoff Hurst's third and decisive goal.
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has dismissed suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur have
become North London's stronger side after winning two of the last three derby clashes.
The Spurs came from two goals down to win 3-2 at the Emirates last year and fought the Gunners
to a 3-3 draw at White Hart Lane later in the season before Sunday's showdown once again ended in
their favor.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has criticized the space his team gave to Tottenham Hotspur
youngster Kyle Walker as he unleashed a swerving long-range strike to score the decisive goal in
the Spurs' 2-1 win over the Gunners at White Hart Lane yesterday.
Following the full-time whistle in the latest edition of the North London derby, Wenger made
headlines by criticizing Tottenham's opening goal-scorer Rafael Van der Vaart but subsequently
admitted that his own side was short of confidence.

Another opportunity for D.C. United to make up ground in the playoff race. Another loss.
Thee days after dropping a decision to the Philadelphia Union, D.C. United lost again, falling
2-1 to the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium on Saturday.
The decisive goal came in the second half on a beautiful diving header from Eddie Gaven, who
made his return for the Crew after being injured for nearly two months.
Kick of the water bottle show Suarez is a winner
Luis Suarez frustration after being substituted with ten minutes to go against Wolves on
Saturday is just a sign of his winning mentality. Body Language. A term often used to backup
theories of a player's discontent.

Carlos headed home the game-winning goal for RangersSeveral U.S. internationals put their name on the scoresheet this past weekend, some contributing
to important results.
In Scotland, Carlos Bocanegra got his first goal for Rangers, the U.S. captain netting what turned
out to be the game-winner with a trademark header.

Missing Thierry Henry and facing a strong FC Dallas side on the road, the New York Red Bulls
didn't look like a good bet to get the three points they needed to pump some sorely-needed life
into their fading playoff hopes.
No, the Red Bulls didn't have their star goal-scorer, or three fourths of their starting
defense, but the team that hadn't won since July found a way to win anyway, as a Luke Rodgers goal
and standout performance from Frank Rost helped New York post a sorely-needed 1-0 victory over FC
Dallas at Pizza Hut Park.
Manchester United and Manchester City started their UEFA Champions League campaigns with 1-1
draws against Benfica and Napoli, respectively.
Both Manchester sides have maintained a perfect record in the Barclays Premier League so far
this season but unfamiliar opposition had them trailing before they equalized and settled for a
point each.
The Turkish Süper Lig has finally got under way over the last weekend following extensive
investigations into match-fixing. Last season's champions Fenerbahçe scraped a 1-0 home win
against Ordurspor last night whilst both of their arch-rivals Beşiktaş and Galatasaray
experienced losing starts to the campaign going down to Eskişehirspor and Istanbul BB
respectively.

The Los Angeles Galaxy were able to check off their first box in their "to-do" list for the 2011
MLS season on Saturday night with a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids.
Landon Donovan scored in the 36th minute as Los Angeles was able to clinch the league's first
playoff berth.
In the old times, goal celebrations were very boring natural and didn't have any art in them. If
you watch Rivelino WC old famous goals, you notice that he used to run a lot, then when he does not
know what else to do, he just stops. Well, even scoring a decisive goal in the WC final, the guy
was running out of any ideas, that was Alessandro Altobelli in 1982.
It took two second-half goals from Giuseppe Rossi, but Villarreal finally were able to get past
Danish side Odense, and advance to the Champions League group stage.
Rossi who was linked with a move to Juventus this summer, got in front of his marker to open the
scoring five minutes after halftime and then rifled in a brilliant volley in the 66th minute.
Miller celebrates his decisive goal
Whilst Cardiff's 1-0 win at Upton Park against West Ham last Sunday was overshadowed by the events
in Tottenham, crowd trouble of a different kind is aggravating Cardiff Fans. Arriva Trains Wales
have decided to stop trains calling at Ninian Park station for Bluebirds' home games during a 3
hour period.
Japan are World Cup champions. The Japan women's soccer team won the World Cup Final on Sunday
after defeating USA on penalty kicks in a closely fought game played in Frankfurt, Germany.
The United States women's national team created most of the chances but had to wait until the
67th minute when half-time substitute Alex Morgan slotted the ball into the back of the net against
the advancing goalkeeper (see video below).

KATHMANDU, July 15: Brigade Boys Club on Friday became the last team to be relegated from the
Martyrs Memorial Red Bull A Division League Football Tournament after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of
already relegated Swayambhu Club at the Dasharath Stadium.
Koilapani Polestar of Nawalparasi and Kalimati based United Youth Club are the other two teams that
have already been relegated in the 18-team contest.
In an all-Tanzanian affair the Kagame Inter-Club Cup, a tournament for clubs from east and
central Africa, has been won by Young Africans Football Club following a narrow 1-0 victory over
arch-rivals Simba Sports Club.
The game was always going to be a close affair with Tanzania's two most decorated club sides
facing each other in the final.

The United States run for glory at the U-17 World Cup hit a major bump in the road on
Wednesday.
Wilmer Cabrera's boys were unable to mount a comeback against Uzbekistan, falling 2-1 against
the Central Asian nation.
