Ahoy there.
A word of caution. If you ever decide to visit Cairo in the near future, particularly if it
involves a back-crippling, desert traversing, eight hour coach trip from the south coast in the
small hours of the morning, perhaps don't choose the day when Egypt are hosting Algeria in a World
Cup qualifying decider and the City is on relative lockdown; traffic has stalled, shops are
abandoned and from every stationary, horn-honking mini-bus there's a national flag being hoisted
from the sun-roof.

Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre says their looming clash with Chelsea could be decisive for their
own title ambitions.
The Gunners face Chelsea at the end of the month.
Silvestre said: "I think Chelsea is going to be a big test for us. It could be a decider for the
league title this season.

Although this is the final stage of the World Cup 2010 qualifiers and there are
no weak teams in the competition, Portugal and Russia were expected to have much easier jobs. They
have minimal advantage before the return leg on Wednesday, but while Russia have a reason feel
aggrieved, Portugal were more than lucky against Bosnia.

Check this out from Freddy Ljungberg's blog people:
THE BRAWL IN HOUSTONI'm sorry that it has taken quite some time after the game to post something, but I have
actually been quit pissed off and in a bad mood after the game and wanted to think things through
before I said anything. Click to continue reading...
That second trivia question was a little tougher, apparently.
Far fewer readers could name one of two goalkeepers who had dressed for both the Galaxy and
Chivas USA this season than correctly answered the first question.
The answers: Miguel Benitez of Cal State Dominguez Hills and Kevin Guppy of Cal State
Northridge.

St. Pat's attacker Ryan Guy fired an early second half decider for a 2-1 win at Drogheda United. The

Overnight the peoples of Ivory Coast, Chile, Serbia, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Mexico popped the
champagne. Now there are 19 on the party list, and there's mass patriotic emotion attached to the
competition for the final 13 places. I'll have a look at some of the more interesting ones (to me
ok).
Last night New Zealand held Bahrain to a 0:0 draw on Bahrain's turf.

With the Chuseok holidays in South Korea over, it is traditionally time for local fans to put down
their overheated chopsticks and check out the race for the play-offs.
Past battles have been thrilling and this season is no different. As always, we teams that have
long forgotten thoughts of merely finishing in the top six to book a place in the championship
play-off series and have eyes on top spot.

Hard to argue with this Daily Mail list was probably surprisingly easy to assemble!
10. Keith Curle (3 caps, 1992)
Never an obvious candidate for international football, Curle had spent his formative years on the
boggy pitches of the lower leagues.
Graham Taylor's scatter-gun approach to selection saw the Manchester City player appearing at
right-back, only to be replaced by the left-midfielder Andy Sinton.

Europeam heavyweights and 1998 World Cup champions France have a battle on their hands if they
want to qualify for the tournament in South Africa next summer. They drew with Group Seven
leaders Serbia on Wednesday night leaving them four points off the Serbians with just two games
left. It now seems almost certain they will have to face a play-off tie to qualify for the
tournament but Barcelona striker thierry Henry is confident his national side have what it takes to
get them to South Africa in 2010.

Ironically, though it's labeled as a decider, the outcome of tonight's match might end up not
carrying much weight when things come to a close. Because even with a win tonight, we'd have to
count on Ukraine dropping points to either Belarus tonight or England in one month's time. And if
on par with points before the very last fixture, goal difference would kick in, meaning basically
we'd go head to head as to who can batter their opponents more on the night (those unlucky sides
being Kazahstan and Andorra respectively).

After setting up Bobby Zamora's hind panel for a weekend winner, Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey

Russian side Amkar Perm.To date, this is the only video look at the goal, but I'm hoping a clip not
shot from the stands will surface today.

Strikes from Maxi RodrÃguez, Diego Forlán and Sergio Agüero left Club Atlético de Madrid in
firm command of their UEFA Champions League play-off round tie against Panathinaikos after a
thrilling 3-2 win in Athens.
Maxi had given the visitors a first-half lead and although Dimitris Salpingidis equalised just
after the break, the Spanish side hit back with two goals in eight minutes.

With the Premier League about to spark into life this weekend, COS reporter Adam Hennessey casts
his eye over the players he feels will have an impact this coming season, but players who readers
may not know much about.
Birmingham City are about to embark on yet another Premiership adventure, this time under the
stewardship of Alex McLeish, and this little Irish gem amongst their ranks, could have a big part
to play, if Birmingham are to survive in the top flight this season.

It has been a while since BWFC24 was updated, you may have noticed! I can only apologise for
this as my passion for the game of football and therefore the blog dwindled slightly. The less I
wrote about Bolton and football in general the harder it became to make regular updates and bring
the whole site back up-to-date.

This afternoon's potential league decider at Tannadice between Dundee United and Rangers is the
164th between the two sides.
Last year's title was won at Tannadice, by Celtic, and twice during Rangers' nine in a row run
did they win the league at Tannadice - in 1990 and the last in 1998 - so bizarrely the Dundee
United fans are rather used to seeing the league won there, although the one title they did win
themselves back in 1983, they won just down the street at Dens Park.

A relatively quiet close to the Premier League season for Chelsea. Not Sunderland, though.
The Black Cats are in a four-way dogfight for 60 million pounds. When's the last time Chelsea
were involved in a relegation decider anyway?
Hiddink will no doubt opt for a full-strength squad, the threat of first-team players losing
form ahead of the May 30 FA Cup Final too real to ignore.

It's a bit strange when the key figure in a Champions League semifinal decider isn't allowed to
suit up, but we may just have that situation tonight. After a scoreless draw in the Old Trafford
leg, Arsenal would surely look and feel a better bet if Andrey Arshavin hadn't been cup-tied by his
earlier participation with Zenit St.

Is Keirrison worth all the hype?
Liverpool could be ready to make an early swoop for Palmeiras striker, Keirrison, if his side

Last night, the São Paulo club could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to fellow Brazilians Sport
Recife and are in danger of missing out of the next phase of South America's most prestigious club

With ten man Bongo beating Wolves last night the picture looks bleak for automatic promotion for

It's hard to decide which was the more smorgulescent moment; the drefted booing of League Chairman
Lord Mawhinney, or the snarduptacious extra time strike of thriker Claude Gnapke. All can agree the
stappy-shappy Johnstone Paints Trophy decider was reminiscent of the stambrary finals of old, when
all it took was one gracky hero to borf a game into the tubels of history.
