The trap-door has been opened at Anfield, and above it perches a team on the brink. Consequently,
every game seems to be make or break for Liverpool this season. Every decision is overly
scrutinised, and despite us being without a league title since 1989, the media tells us that the
league must be won or the manager must go.

After last week's swine flu debacle, Heart of Clackmanannshire Football Club find themselves in
court in this week's Shit Shot Mungo, accused of deliberately and maliciously spreading the virus
through playing an infected team in a recent match. A draconian punishment awaits them, unless
Mungo McCrackas or Sir Roddy Bulbs can save the day.

While I've been moving, things have been falling apart in south-central Ireland. In the middle of
last week the directors of the team resigned, followed by the manager on Friday. This was leading
up to the team's final game of the season on Saturday at home to Shelbourne. Earlier int he week te
fixture was called off, but the fans got together with the remnants of the team and figured out how
to make it work.

Tomorrow sees us take on Sunderland at home in what has now become a massive match. Steve Bruce has
taken them to the next level, although they're a sort of Jackal and Hyde side as they're nowhere
near as good on their travels as they are when playing at home. Sound familiar?
The good news is that Jones won't be bullying King and Woodgate, but we'll still have Darren Bent
to worry about.

The future of Rafa Benitez dominates the British press this morning, as
Liverpool slumped to their sixth defeat in seven games and fingers are being
jabbed once again: former Liverpool star Ronnie Whelan suggests Rafa does not care about the
Premier League; Sam Wallace concludes that Rafa is too clever for his own good; John Ley looks at
the facts unnecessarily needed to prove Liverpool have had a poor start; and David Hytner looks at
the club's growing injury crisis, the one mitigating factor that seems to be saving Rafa.

Real Madrid are lining up Rafa Benitez as their next manager after giving Manuel Pellegrini two
games to save his job.
The Spanish giants have won just one of their last five games and suffered the humiliation of a 4-0
defeat by third division Alcorcon in the Cup on Tuesday night.
Madrid considered sacking Pellegrini straight after the latest debacle, but will give him a chance
to turn things around against Getafe on Saturday and at AC Milan in the Champions League on
Wednesday.

"Sing when you're winning" - RSL = 40ptsAfter having to swallow a 5-0 debacle in New York, one thing was clear - any team other than
Toronto FC had to make the playoffs tonight. There was that brief moment where it was still
possible that the Reds, that unbalanced, built-on-the cheap by Mo Johnston squad could still make
the playoffs despite the club's horrifying display and completely mediocre season.

We need to keep our voices down.
My lover is not very happy.
4 losses on the bounce for his beloved Liverpool.
He has been out of love with Rafa for a while now.
Ever since the Robbie Keane debacle.
But he did have some belief in him.

I decided not to comment on our 2-0 loss against Chivas since my arguments are the same as the
Houston tie except for the Zoltan goal. This week we didn't even score and it would seem that
playing those players in a slump (Wolff, Arnaud, Jewsbury) has brought nothing good.
The game did have a horrible offside non-call on the first Chivas goal, but in all honesty
should be blamed on the assistant and not the ref (Mike Kuhn has all the evidence, and the video is
clear also).

I recently had a chat with Hank, a mate of mine that's a Portsmouth season-ticket holder. He's come
along to The Lane a few times and you could say that he know's his football pretty well. The only
downer is that he and a lot more Pompey fans blame Harry for their current plight. Now, call me
stupid, but how is Harry to blame?

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst, I always say.
And thank goodness for Group 9, because the worst, if France can earn a point at home against
the Faroe Islands, will be advancing to the playoffs.
Serbia's last two matches are against Romania and Lithuania, and there's certainly a possibility
that they'll blow their chance of winning the group.

A look back at Liverpool FC related quotes from the last week
"I can understand the feelings between Man Utd and Liverpool. I'm a foreign player, so maybe I
don't have to think like that, but I know how the Liverpool fans feel and I remember the welcome I
had when I arrived – it was just amazing, so I think Liverpool is my English club.

Antes de meterme de lleno a lo que es el partido quiero tirarles algunas preguntas.
¿Con que mentalidad vemos el partido de mañana? ¿Los que van, van a poyar, van a ver o
van a reventar?

Wow, and here I thought with Shalrie Joseph still playing and (reasonably) healthy, the Revs would
be OK and make the playoffs, even without Steve Ralston.
And then came the Debacle at the Cotton Bowl, losing 1-0 and being run around and off the field by
FC Dallas (FC DALLAS!

Hello there, Fulham today in a late kick off and a chance to put last season's debacle behind
us. The second game of the season gave us an unseemly taste of what was to come.
I remember later in the season reading some quotes from Robin van Persie about how the team were
on the bus afterwards and he was thinking 'How did that happen?

It's a pity that Branko Culina's undignified, self-serving comments at Sunday's press conference
have served to obscure the fact that he does have a point. He developed that point somewhat
truculently in his "clarification" today, pausing for a moment to offer Vitezslav Lavicka a
well-deserved apology.

A fantastic performance by the FK squad on Saturday night as the lads played FC Valhalla off the
park - beating them 4-1. We conceded the early goal of course, it's the Dinamo way.
We didn't go to The Daily Pint afterwards because we were tending to Jason in the Emergency Room.
He took a ball in the eye - a deflected shot that came off Kato's knee.

Recently I haven't being paying a lot of attention to the football world. The time I have spent
watching football, though, has been filled with cheating, disgraceful antics, and stupid bickering
between managers. This Friday, it's time for someone to speak the cold, hard truth.

"I think that, all things considered, that second half was the worst Celtic performance I've ever

agent John Colquhoun to oversee the selection process for the new Glasgow Celtic manager.

Never in my life as an Argentina fan have I seen a national team like the current one.
Regardless of the players called up and their merit or lack of in being in the starting lineup, I
have never seen an entire Argentina team play with so little heart, with so little pride, with so
little soul, with so little dignity, with so little personality, with so little inner strength.

EDIT: Think of this as the numerical basis for Ed's post about tonight's games.
This chart would have been even simpler if Costa Rica hadn't swan-dove against Mexico. I think it
was John Jagou who pointed out that Mexico tends to do very well in Ticostan, though, so it
shouldn't have been a big surprise.

After the latest WC qualifying debacle I must ask the following:
1. Why does Tevez continue to be in the starting lineup?
2. Why can't any Argentina forward score goals? Is it bad luck, have the wrong forwards been
called up or is there no support from the midfield?

Colombia did Argentina a good turn yesterday with their 2-0 win over Ecuador which meant that
they still retained fourth spot even as they crashed to defeat against Brazil at the Grand
Arroyito.
This maybe the way to go to SA, with a little help from other teams. Because the public seems to
be quietly giving up on the team as over 65% of them in a survey believe that they will not make it
to the World Cup.

Well, things aren't going to get any easier for the Wizards in the next couple of weeks. KC will
be visiting New England, DC and NY in an effort to bust out the slump the team is currently in.
Having not scored a goal in 424 minutes and having only one in the last 8 games (counting the US
Cup game where we used our starters) KC will have their hands full with 2 playoff teams and one
team that is on the rise after firing their ineffective coach (hopefully we will catch the same bug
they did).
