Marlon King is twenty-eight years old. His contract with Wigan Athletic was worth £35,000 per
week. He has scored twelve Premier League goals in his entire career. Never has in the field of
human endeavour has such mediocrity been so handsomely rewarded. For this reason and this doesn't
obviously doesn't even take into account what he has been sent to prison for and if nothing else
comes from this grimly predictable story, at least Dave Whelan may be breathing a sigh of relief at
getting such an expensive burden upon Wigan Athletic's wage bill.

Dean Windass, the Dick Trickle of English soccer, has retired, leaving a hole in the hearts of
immature men (like me) everywhere who cannot help but giggle at the mere mention of his name.
There is hope for us yet though, as he is set to obtain his coaching badges and has his eye on

It might be early in the season, but the obituary notices are already being written in England: the
Big Four is dead. Remember the Big Five from the 1980s (Liverpool, Man Utd,

Most of you don't care too much about Maccabi Haifa or the Israeli Premier League, but fans of
Liverpool, Chelsea, or Manchester United need to be alert - as one of those teams could just meet
up with "Hayerukim" (The Greens) in the Champions League group stages.
Haifa, the only Israeli team ever to advance to this stage, easily beat Red Bull Salzberg (5-1 on
aggregate) over two legs.

Let's get the Dean Windass jokes out of the way and get right to some fantasy footie. I'm going to
stray from our usual format this week and instead end the fantasy footie season in a stream of
consciousness style...Â
I apologize but there is just too much on my professional/personal plate this evening to delve
deeply into the top matches of the week and preview this week's results and tactics - so instead
I'll stick with a longer version of our usual "Studs and Duds" section as the main body of work.

"Footballers are stupid, give them a bit of responsibility and watch them mess up" -Brian
Clough Clough was a manager who prided himself on discipline, he may not have been squeaky clean,

So Arsenal's half-year finances are out and in all fairness, for being in a recession, they did
pretty damn good. When you generate more match day revenue (an increase of 3.3 million to 44.4
million pounds), more television revenue (an increase of 4.5 million to 28.9 million pounds), and
end up with a bigger pre-tax [.

Tottenham). Now, with Tony Adams out the door and countless stars sold, Portsmouth need a hero.

still good, Ince looks sadder and sadder, and the rest of it.
