Denied the opportunity to gain revenge on West Ham for a couple of poor results last season, a
Spurs XI hosted a side from our championship near-neighbours at Chadwell Heath yesterday and ran
out comfortable winners by five goals to two.
With the need for a Europa League understudy squad, there are fewer loan deals at the Lane for
some of our younger players, so it was a chance for many to get some much needed action.
No one can change anything about the United game, it's done, it's been analysed, it's over. Now
it's time to look forward to Spurs next match. On Thursday evening Hearts visit North London as
White Hart Lane hosts its first competitive game of the season. It would of course be easy to make
jokes at Hearts expense over their competitiveness, but there's really no need, if all goes to
plan, Spurs football will do the talking.
With Tottenham heading to the capital of Scotland with more walking wounded than a scene from
Braveheart, one player's ill-fortune is another's chance.
Tottenham have five first team central midfielder's out, with Tom Huddlestone, Wilson Palacios,
Luka Modric and Sandro all falling foul to the rigours of the summer break!
Liverpool youngsters Jack Robinson and Andre Wisdom have been named in the England squad for the
forthcoming U20 World Cup finals in Colombia.
The Reds pair are part of coach Brian Eastick's 21-man squad, which will warm up for the finals
with a 10-day training camp in Denver, Colorado in America from July 14.
As last season drew to a close it appeared that Spurs only hope for European football was the
Europa League that came with 5th place. Arguments raged as to whether or not this was a good thing
and it appeared Harry Redknapp and a number of his players didn't seem keen on the idea.
A young Spurs XI triumphed over a Reading side at Spurs Lodge yesterday as they edged the game
2-1.
Spurs goals came in the first 15 minutes as first Dean Parrett and then Ryan Pritchard took us
into a 2-0 lead. We couldn't press home our advantage however, as Reading scored late to leave
Spurs hanging on for the win.
