It's time again for the annual Carolina Challenge Cup. The Toronto FC squad are currently in Charlston, South Carolina participating in their final preseason tournament before the 2011 season kicks off. Canadian Andrew Ornoch has also joined up with the team as a trialist.

On Thursday, TFC faced Charlston College in a friendly game before the tournament.

The Toronto FC squad have been down in Orlando this week continuing preseason preparation under our new team of Winter and de Klerk. In addition to our core squad, there are a number of academy players and trialists with the team in Orlando as well. Javier Martina, Nick Soolsma and Elbekay Bouchiba are in training camp and are expected to be signing with the club soon.

Aron Winter added some bench strength on the coaching side by promoting Jason Bent from the Academy ranks to 1st Team Assistant Coach. It's a solid move on the club's part as the 33-year-old Bent is a decent, young Canadian coaching prospect and his three years as Academy Head Coach gives him a strong bond with the crop of Academy youngsters moving to the 1st Team.

Toronto FC have released the full roster of players that are in Turkey to train and take part in preseason friendlies.

Yes, it's a bit of a slow news day when you are discussing your club's travel plans but things are a little more interesting than in years past. From 2007 through 2010, Mo Johnston's Reds usually dilly-dallied around Florida for a few weeks while testing their "strengths" against far from formidable opponents such as out of season NCAA squads and Sunday League ex-pros before winding up with a mediocre display at the annual Carolina Challenge in Charleston, SC.
