8,000 miles away from the World Cup in South Africa, the deafening drone of vuvuzela's, the worldly popular fan blow horns, filled the air at Wake Med Soccer Park on Saturday night and provided a "World Cup-like atmosphere" for the RailHawks duel against NASL Conference rival Montreal Impact.

Heading into Saturday night's match unbeaten in six straight matches, the RailHawks added to that streak against the Impact, gaining a point in what became a very controversial 2-2 outcome.

MONTREAL, QC – United Soccer Leagues announced Thursday at the USL First Division Championship Series media banquet the winners of the Defender of the Year, Coach of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards. Portland's Gavin Wilkinson was named the USL-1 Coach of the Year with Puerto Rico's Cristian Arrieta earning the Most Valuable Player and Defender of the Year honors.

The Islanders and the Portland Timbers drew 1-1 on Friday night at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, to keep both teams tied in 5th place of the USL-1 standings with identical 2-3-1 [W-T-L] records.

The Islanders, whose promising start included wins against their Canadian nemeses Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact, are now winless with two 1-1 ties (one with Austin) and a loss to Vancouver in their last 3 matches.
