It took 20 seconds to shatter the France's march to the 1994 World Cup. In the 90' minute Emil
Kostadinov lashed a ball past Bernard Lama to win the game for Bulgaria, 2-1 and shatter French
hopes for qualifying for the 1994 World Cup. David Ginola could have run out the clock but his
errant cross led to the Kostadinov disaster.

Well after Worky posting that wonderful photo of one of my all time favourite players, I felt we
couldn't leave it at that. So, being a little indulgent, I wanted to share with you my
reminiscences of a great Newcastle United footballer (and gorgeous guy), one of the best exports to
make it out of [.

strong>In contrast to Chris Hughton's recent statement that he was more than happy with the
squad he has leading into the festive period, it's being reported that Newcastle are interested in
signing what be the latest in a line of French wingers. Apparently following in the footsteps of
David Ginola and Laurent Robert, Fabrice Pancrate could [.

I'll clarify one thing. Missing the cut and thrust of league football is a big negative but the
good thing about International week is that it provides for ample reflection. Maybe too much of it
sometimes. Perhaps that comes with age.
Watching the La Liga review I learnt a bit more about age.

Former Newcastle United star David Ginola has been talking about what it means to pull the black
and white shirt on. "When I signed for Newcastle I didn't know the English mentality, I didn't know
about the English tradition and I came straight away to the North East and its one part of the
world [.

Yesterday's review of the current squad, took a look at the Newcastle defence, an area that this
season we've been surprisingly strong in, given our poor reputation in recent years. Tonight looks
at arguably the fulcrum of a successful team, the midfield, the place that could and should control
a game and dictate the style of [.

As the football world turn their focus on which nation will qualify for World Cup 2010, Sweden,
Argentina, France and Portugal stand as the countries who might not make it to South Africa. If
these countries fail to qualify, then some of the world's best players will not be gracing the
biggest stage in football.

Bryan Robson is currently sitting at home with a piece of A4 and the DVD playing non stop. What
he's doing is learning the Thai players nicknames so when he arrives in a couple of weeks to
formerly take charge he will have at least some idea of who will be in front of him.
Thai names are a mouthful with four, five, six or more syllables making them a real mouthful for us
big noses.

Forlorn, languid, lazy, lack of confidence?
When a player is the subject of a 30 million transfer fee in the market, the subject is expected
to deliver. Though the occasional glimpse of genius has been seen at Dimitar Berbatov's Old
Trafford career, the phrases in the opening line have been associated with the Bulgarian to
date.

There are two types of gamers in the football world: those that play FIFA and those that play
Pro Evo. In conversation it's not really acceptable to admit to a split allegiance - you're one or
the other, and the other is wrong.
I am a Pro Evo loyalist, and I see the gaming world in black and white.

Before I dip a hand into the sock drawer and retrieve my ‘game-face' for Saturday's trip to

day when this cockamamie blog hits the milestone of 100 posts. The century.

TalkSport ran a poll to see who the Premiership's all-time biggest diver was. Cristiano Ronaldo,
who is talked of a lot more fondly in the media now that he has left us, finished an impressive
fourth, way behind Steven Gerrard!
Jürgen Klinsmann - 35%
Steven Gerrard - 29%
Didier Drogba - 18%
Cristiano Ronaldo -12%
David Ginola - 6%

The English Premier League season started this weekend, and on BBC I heard an interview with David
Ginola, who referring to Manchester City's massive investment in new players, nevertheless didn't
believe that they would be fighting for the title this season: "It takes time to make a flower", he
said poetically, and many other clubs that have invested massively in new players may want to
listen!

10: Newcastle United 1994-96
The only trophy-less team on the list, but Kevin Keegan's Newcastle will live longer in the
memory than Leeds United's champions of 1992 or Liverpool's cup treble winners of 2001. Epitomised
by the flair of David Ginola, they captivated audiences across the country.

It has been easy to laugh at Newcastle United in recent months, not that it makes it right of
course. From Kevin Keegan's typically sudden departure, the frankly ridiculous resurrection of Joe
Kinnear's top flight career, to the second coming of Alan Shearer, via Mike Ashley downing pints in
a replica shirt, Dennis Wise somehow qualifying to be a Football Director, Chris Hughton taking
charge of the team on an almost fortnightly basis, and finally, horror upon horror, relegation from
the Premier League after a sixteen year stay at English football's top table.

Three spaces left, but still a number of contenders for the list of 20 Spurs Cult Heroes. Still
looking for the players who achieved legendary status amongst us fans for what they did at the club
– so put forward your argument for (or indeed against) the inclusion of any of these:
Pat Jennings, John White, Alfie Conn, Bill Brown, Sandy Brown, Cyril Knowles, Ralph Coates, Gary
Lineker, Steffen Freund, Teddy Sheringham.

The clue is in the title - the first all-action book on Spurs is imminent, and all lilywhite
fans are most warmly invited to pitch in.
A list of 20 fans' favourites is being compiled, and frankly, for a team as steeped in history
as ours, there just ain't enough room for everyone. Some names effortlessly pick themselves –
true Lane legends such as Blanchflower, Perryman, Mabbutt, Greaves and Bill Nick.

The Parc des Princes, November 1993. France are seconds away from securing qualification for the
1994 World Cup, albeit nervously. Tied at 1-1 with Group rivals Bulgaria, they know a point is
enough to send them to America the following summer.
In possession is David Ginola, as enigmatic, stylish and confident then as he would prove to be
later on in his career, when English fans got to see him up close.

With his flowing locks and languid style Chonburi's midfield star Arthit certainly has a touch of
the David Ginola about him. He also offers a mean free kick and a wicked cross.
But you can imagine the Thai being as popular with George Graham for example as the Frenchman was
during his time at Tottenham.

1 – Hair Cuts
Newcastle players over the last 30 years have been renowned to have rubbish haircuts, really
starting with Kevin Keegans Perm and Terry McDermotts... well...."mop". Since then they have had
some terrible barnets. Andy Carroll and Fabricio Coloccini are the most recent victims of having
rubbish haircuts but also I need to mention Barry Venisons mullet, Darren Peacocks pony tail and
Joey Bartons prison look.

If there was a Premier League Hall Of Fame, you could guarantee that many of Newcastle United
players from 1992 onwards would have made the list. Superstars such as Peter Beardsley, Alan
Shearer, Les Ferdinand and David Ginola would be certain inductees just to name a few.
You could also argue that many of Newcastle United's current players could be included in that
list too, but that's precisely one of the main issues of why I believe Newcastle are performing so
poorly this season and why they will get relegated.

Something a bit different today: a guest columnist. Here is Russ and his thoughts:
You may not realise it but these are the groups into which every single winner of the PFA Player of
the Year Award can be easily placed. Some actually fall into two camps. Consider Kevin Keegan
(winner in 1982) as a clear example.
