David Bridges has returned to Kettering Town, 3 years after he made the move in the opposite
direction to sign for Graham Westley's revolution. A lot has changed in those 3 years. Boro have
gone from annual underachievers in the Conference to punching above their weight in League 1. That
is ultimately the reason why Bridges' time at Broadhall Way has been cut short.
Parkinson will not be joining Boro
Welling defender Jack Parkinson has turned down a move to Stevenage in order to remain at
Conference South outfit Welling United. Parkinson has been training with the club and played 45
minutes in Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat to Dover at the Crabble. It was thought that a fee of
£10,000 had been agreed, but the Wings captain has decided to stay put for the time being, turning
down an opportunity to jump 3 leagues higher overnight.
So another season has come and gone. I don't know about you, but it seems to have absolutely
flown past. It wasn't that long ago that we were all looking forward to the Football League fixture
list being released and then getting underwhelmed when we learnt we would be facing Macclesfield at
home on the opening day.
Port Vale 1-3 Boro (Griffith og 33, Winn 40, Morsy 56, Bridges 67)
BBC Report | Official Report
After weeks of waiting for an away win, 2 have come in the space of 4 days as Boro continue
their push up the League 2 table. The win over Vale puts Boro into the top half of the table on 42
points, level with Crewe in 11th position.
On a cold and wet night at Broadhall Way, Stevenage and Oxford played out a 0-0 draw full of
incidents but little goal mouth chances. Boro opted for 4-4-2 and made 4 changes from the team that
started against Shrewsbury on Saturday. New signing Taiwo Atieno was left out completely after a
quiet debut and replaced by Ben May.
After the excitement of the Newcastle win 3 weeks ago, Boro's latest FA Cup game didn't quite
have the same effect despite a good performance in front of a sold out Lamex Stadium. On paper it
was always going to be a tough game with Reading having a steady season in the Championship but
this was the FA Cup and you always felt anything could happen.
Stevenage 3-0 Rotherham (Winn 44, Harrison 85, Laird 90)
BBC Report | Official Report
Winning is beginning to become a habit again after an inconsistent start to life in League 2.
Boro have now won their last four home games in all competitions, the latest being a 3-0 demolition
job of 3rd place Rotherham.
