While nothing continues to go on in MLS per se, there remains a bit of an offseason shuffle for
loans and trades. There's been talk of some pretty huge names going across the pond, be it for a
trade or a loan, and regardless of whether the rumors have any actual merit. That said, we could
see some big moves in the near future.
The biggest news of the week is that there is no news for this week. With the roster freeze
coming at 2 PM PDT on Wednesday, the LA Galaxy announced only one change. That was bringing
Yohance Marshall back from loan to the USSF D-2 Austin Aztecs, a team that enjoyed
several weeks at the top of the second division of North American futbol this season.
Paul kennedy of Soccer America with a report, video included, on the end of David Beckman's World
Cup dream. Playing for Milan this weekend he tore his left achilles tendon. He could miss the LA
Galaxy season as well.
While David Beckman may tell us all it's Sunshine, Puppies and Roses in LA, he tells the AC Milan
website something slightly different: DAVID BECKHAM: "I hope to come back to Milan. They stayed in
my heart and sincerely I am confident we can see each other again in November.
Last night was a huge night of upsets in the US Open Cup as Harrisburg, Wilmington, Charleston &
Rochester all knocked off MLS sides! Hooray Beer! Sadly my Thunder were dumped out after the game
ended 3-3 and we lost 4-2 on PK's to Kansas City (Damn!).
OK, I was gonna wait to start more Galaxy-bashing until tomorrow, but this couldn't wait.
Genius.
Also, quote from former San Jose Earthquake George Best: "He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle, and he does not score many goals. Apart from that, he's all right."
The 2009 du Nord MLS Best 11 was announced on Sun Nov 15. See the list here. You can also listen to
this week's United Mania podcast (which was broadcast on Sunday) to hear the list announced and
discussed.
