RIVER OR LIFE: The front office

DCUMD 27 October @ 08:47 PM EST
Stealing on old bit from the late Big O and Dukes Show, we will spend the next month or so playing "River or Life" with members of the DC United organization, starting with the front office, and then moving on to the players, by position. In an offseason that is bound to include multitudes of changes throughout the club, this will be a great way to show the team who we the fans want to see return next year. Seriously?

The Fullback Files 27 October @ 10:34 AM EST
Seriously? "We have to determine whether we believe, for the immediate long term, if Tommy is the guy to lead the team," Payne said. "We don't go into this with our minds made up. We want to almost treat it like a blank slate."Ignoring the... Click to continue reading...

This May Be Loney’s Best One Yet

Booked for Dissent 21 March @ 09:12 AM EST

The 'graf about his Galaxy in his Western Conference Preview has me in tears:

There's a bit in the original "In-Laws" movie where Peter Falk says "You know, I am such an incredible driver. It's incomprehensible to me that they took away my license." And in response, Alan Arkin gets this wonderful expression, combining equal parts terror, horror, and helpless rage.

The Roster Dance

The Fullback Files 14 January @ 10:46 AM EST
At long last, Namoff is officially back in the fold for the 2009 campaign. And while we're raiding Goff's cupboard, let's take a look at some DCU dirt he dug up from Dave Kasper. The big news? (1) We're getting close to landing Walter Martinez and bringing Doe back. They'd both be on loan, but that's pretty close to filling out our forward depth chart. Click to continue reading...

Q&A: Dave Kasper

Behind the Badge 08 January @ 04:25 PM EST

With the MLS SuperDraft just a week away, we sat down with General Manager Dave Kasper and asked about the technical staff's preparation and perspective. With the sixth and seventh picks overall (and three more in later rounds), the club has the opportunity to pick up some solid prospects. The last time D.

Quote of the Day: Feelings, Nothing More Than Feelings (We Hope!)

The Fullback Files 29 October @ 06:52 AM EST
Kasper, via Goff: "I feel strongly that Tommy deserves to remain as head coach."Ruh-roh! Let's hope his feelings don't get in the way of his reason. Tommy's teams are not consistently motivated for big games. His pre-game tactics and team selection are reasonable, but his ability to adapt and make in-game changes (tactical adjustments, reading the game, making the right substitution) often fails Click to continue reading...

The Problem With DC United

Booked for Dissent 09 May @ 08:47 AM EST

They're not very good. Simple as that. In recent seasons, we've seen that team takes a while to come together and when it does, it looks like one of the greatest teams ever seen in MLS. I'm not convinced that this will happen this year.

The problem is that this team, as we heard throughout the off-season, was assembled to win CONCACAF.

SPECULATION: Argentina Bound, DC United To Sign Player Soon?

MLS Rumors 03 May @ 10:06 AM EST
Please indulge us some, pie-in-the-sky,"you pulled that out of thin air" speculation for a moment.
Think about this:
Ivan Gazidis,
MLS's Deputy Commissioner went down to Argentina last week and is reportedly still there...
He is very keen on Argentina. Click to continue reading...
