2012: Rise of the Chinese Football Empire? is a post from: Just Football
Following the arrival of Nicolas Anelka and Jean Tigana at Shanghai Shenhua, the Chinese
Super League (CSL) has received more attention in a month than it has previously done in
almost a decade.
The CSL itself is coming up to its ninth year as China's top league since it superseded the
Jia-A League in 2003.
Every football fan or player in the country should watch this match.
A sold-out crowd at Hindmarsh is simply one of the finest sights in Australian sport. Is it in our
top ten regular season games for any code?
And every young player in the country would surely want to imagine him or herself on such a stage.

18
argentinos que se consagraron
campeones de la Champions League.

Dario Conca, Dario...Conca, struggling to place the name? Allow us to refresh your memory.
Despite no-one really knowing who the bloody bejesus he is, Conca is now the third highest-paid
player in world football (behind the 'big two', Messi and Ron) courtesy of Chinese Super League
side Guangzhou Evergrande, who snapped him up on a mammoth contract from Fluminese a week or so
ago.

Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande have announced that they have completed a €10
million transfer for Dario Conca, an attacking midfielder from Brazilian side Fluminense (and 2010
Brazilian Player of the Year) which, you are probably thinking, isn't altogether that startling in
itself.

against PAOK Thessaloniki on Tuesday which put the Russian club through to the last 16 of the

Great we got to a final with a strong performance over Uzbekistan and a strong but ultimately
losing performance in the Asian Cup Final.
No-one more delighted to see the team playing some decent fast forward focused football and let's
face it we should have won the final. Will we ever get a better chance?
Tonight's the night. Asian Cup Semi and the Uzbek manager reckons we're not as good as we used to
be!
We know that but the guys who have come through in this tournament with a future in the Green and
Gold at some level include:
Matt McKay
Mile Jedinak
Neil Kilkenny
Sasa Ognenovski
So we've found four players, we may find more, not World beaters but competent with others around
them to get us to a World Cup - we need to be top four in Asia - this we are, but with Harry and
Timmy getting older and many many games going our way when they could easily of gone the other.

The 2011 Central American Cup in Panama came to a close on Sunday, and World Cup participant
Honduras walked away victorious.
Honduras claimed its third Central American title, defeating a 10-man Costa Rica side, 2-1, in
Panama City. Los Catrachos took an early lead through a rifled finish from close range by Walter
Martinez in the 8th minute, and Emil Martinez added a second off a free kick in the 53rd.
Victory and poverty are relative. For most of America, Nicaragua is looked down upon as the ugly
stepchild. The Ticos complain about Nicas despite giving them visas by the thousands, and everyone
else forgets that a certain Mr. Dario, the father of literary postmodernism in Spanish literature,
came from this cuna.
Richard Garcia is out, injured and in comes the non-playing Tommy Oar.
We all have high hopes for Tommy but if he's not playing for his club side FC Utrecht and in view
of all Holger has said about Tommy... he can't cross, or play the right ball yet according to his
Dutch Coaches....should Tommy really be picked?
