The media reports are heating up that Mo Johnston, fresh of his Scottish Football Hall of Fame
induction (insert joke here), will announce the signing of Preki (
scientific name: Predrag
Radosavljevic) as TFC's new manager. Sources are saying that negotiations are well under way
and that an official announcement could come as early as Thursday.

Yesterday, Toronto FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario was named into this year's MLS Starting XI. It
is the dynamic Scarborough native's fourth time on the year end honours and the third club he has
done it with. Most notably, his appearance is the first for any TFC player.
While De Rosario is enough of a fan favourite, mostly from being local, it is fair to say that his
star has yet to rise to high enough levels in Toronto.

Moving as I do mostly through non-footballing circles, I've been asked, "hey, what's the deal with
Toronto FC? Did they make the playoffs? I heard they lost something like 10 nothing to some nobody
team in the states."
These post-mortems can get boring, so let me just throw down my two-cents on this club as I see it
so we can all move on.

BMO Field finally turned into a fortress in 2009. (Getty Images)
2009 was expected to the be year that Toronto FC turned the corner and really made a splash in
Major League Soccer. The moves were made to get local star Dwayne De Rosario at the start of the
season and things looked promising early on but midway through the first full month of action
manager John Carver stepped down and if you ask me the club never really rebounded from that
change.

So Mo Johnston's big state of the
no-union address was to remove the "interim" tag from
head coach Chris Cummins title. He also removed the word "head" and "coach" from the affable
Englishman's job description as well.
Yes, the ever-humble Johnston dispatched yet another manager from the TFC bench with Cummins being
the convenient excuse for the mediocrity which Mo has taken nearly four years to build.

As a Toronto FC season ticket holder, I have seen my fair share of junk chucked onto the field. I
will even claim responsibility for contributing to it at least once, when Danny Dichio scored that
goal and I thought I'd rather be a part of history than some guy with a novelty seat warmer.
But I've never chucked a streamer at a corner-taker, nor have I thrown my half-empty ten dollar
beer cup at an opposing forward running along the touch-line to celebrate a goal with no one in
particular.

Thanks to an email from a fan up north. This video of the Red Patch Boys creating a large
banner for Danny Dichio may be a bit long but its still pretty cool to see the tribute that they
put on for their favorite bald striker. Man Dichio will always be a legend in Toronto.

This is a loooong video so you may want to clear some time in your Outlook calendar if you intend
to watch it. But since it's a clip of the Red Patch Boys creating thier outsized Danny Dichio
tribute banner it's somewaht fitting that the video is super-sized; any banner that has to be
carried by forklift desereves the director's cut.

Tifo by the North End Elite, Toronto FC supporters' group. It marks the first ever goal in the
team's history, scored by Danny Dichio, who retired this season. Your editor was there, supporting
the other team. The Red Patch Boys had an even larger tifo as well.

Well, TFC did their part correctly this week with a 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake at BMO
field. That bumps us into 8th place in the playoffs until we find out the rest of the results for
the weekend.
This was the final home game of the season, and the Toronto fans gave a nice sending off to fan
favorite Danny Dichio before the match with a huge "Thank You" banner across the south end of the
stadium.

STOUFFVILLE - Entering the 2009 season, there were many new faces, and a group of veterans who had
been together since 2007 - the year they won the Championship.
And every year this core group has collective gotten better, despite injury and age. One of the
plenty who have improved has been Captain Charles Eppich - the Danny Dichio of the team - who
despite age, vertigo, a soreassiatic nerve, sprained ankles - both right and left - and foot
problems, missed many games due to injury, yet still pushed his way through (literally) to score up
until the final game.

Big Story
Danny Dichio's retirement last Wednesday meant emotions ran high during
the 24th minute of the first half during Toronto FC's 3-2 win against the Colorado Rapids yesterday
at BMO Field. It was the 24th minute when Dichio scored Toronto FC's first ever club goal against
the Chicago Fire on May 13th 2007, and fans in the south stand have chanted his name at the same
minute of play at every home game ever since.

If you didn't watch the Colorado Rapids' 3-2 loss to Toronto on Saturday, don't be fooled by the
score. This was no five-goal explosion of offense. It was a 1-1 struggle blown open by two quick
Toronto goals midway through the second half.
Substitute Michael Holody scored his first Major League Soccer goal in his second Major League
Soccer game, but by that time (the 89th minute), the deed was done.

Whether or not TFC make the playoffs, and it is still an uphill battle, one thing was evident in
today's
3-2 win over Colorado - the future is near. In the stadium, on the
broadcast and most importantly on the pitch - change is in the air. That change is going to be
necessary if this club is serious about moving forward and many of the pieces showed their
potential today.

TORONTO FC VS. COLORADO RAPIDS
BMO Field - Saturday, 4:30PM EST
TV: CBC -- Radio: The Fan 590
Hey Colorado - do you like the circus? Well, let's hope so because without putting up the BMO
Winter Bubble, the big top is definitely in full effect. The only thing not happening around TFC
this week is talk of how poor they have played lately!

Toronto FC fan favourite Danny Dichio has called time on his playing career. The man is Toronto
FC's first real "legend". Possibly my favourite memory so far at BMO Field happened at 23:13 in our
match against the Chicago Fire on May 12, 2007.
He's an English journeyman, having spent time at QPR, Sunderland, Millwall, and Preston Northend.

for you.

The origins of the word 'honeymoon' can be traced, at least according to those ever vigilant
authors of Wikipedia, to an ancient Babylonian custom involving the bride's father getting the
groom as drunk as possible on mead.
My excursion to the eroded mountains of Eastern Nova Scotia seems to have borne this custom out,
with white wine replacing that flat, godawful honey beer.

From the first time Danny Dichio stepped on the field for Toronto FC you could see the difference.
There was a fire in the belly of a man who was enjoying his football curtain call. Dichio didn't
come to TFC for one last paycheque, he came here to prove to himself and to the football world that
he was still the physical force that made him a fan favourite with such big clubs as QPR,
Sunderland and West Brom.

Does Mo Johnston take vacations to active volcanoes? The surly Scotsman sure does love watching a
good blow-up doesn't he? News in TFC-world this afternoon is that a press conference has been
called for tomorrow where any number of things may be possibly announced. The two most valid
rumours swirling around involve striker/ bald messiah Danny Dichio and the other our favourite
defensive midfielder/ afro enthusiast Julian De Guzman.

According to Kristian Jack at the Score, Julian De Guzman has agreed to become our first designated
player. Mo Johnston is apparently shopping players around the league in order to make room for him

future?

He's baaaaack! Apparently. The buzz around Toronto's television media is that Julian De Guzman is
once again in the Toronto FC picture. According to some sources a contract has been agreed to but
the sticking point is how TFC makes room in the algebra-like MLS salary cap. Scarborough's own
would demand DP money and The Reds would have some hard choices to make.
