Atléti arrive in Åland

Nordic Fotoball News 27 May @ 05:28 AM EST

ÅLAND'S archipelago is a beautiful place in summer, a holidaying hotspot and a major attraction for visitors to Finland. You can cycle across the islands, swim in the Gulf of Bothnia, or stay at any one of numerous campsites in Finland's autonomous province, but it's safe to say that Atlético Madrid will be doing none of those things during their visit.

Haiku competition winners!

Nordic Fotoball News 17 May @ 03:09 AM EST

Alright, so I've picked five winners. The standard of entries was really, really high, and the judges were all blown away by some of the work displayed. Honourable mentions should go to Venire, Sylvia, Piip, CF and Leonardo (Veikkausliiga's only Barzilian poet, as far as NFN is aware), who made the decisions very difficult, but decide we did and we now finally have our winners.

Tampere United have all the finesse, skill, confidence and panache of a bag of used cat litter right now. Their 1-0 loss to Haka was not an awful performance, but their goalkeeper messes up big time and they lost. he's a young lad and should be replaced, but now Mikko kaven has a knee injury.

Nordic Fotoball News 02 May @ 02:50 AM EST

Tampere United v VPS, Saturday 6:30pm

The first TamU home game after CEO Sami Salonen and Sporting Director Jarkko Wiss left the club promises to be an eventful affair. Fans are unhappy at the way both men have been treated, as Wiss was not just a Sporting Director but TamU's most successful captain of all time.

Haka v HJK

This is Finland's classico, the game between the historical heavyweights with more titles between them than they know what to do with. It's also Haka's first home game, Sedu Koskinen's first chance to bring the magic of a summer of music festivals and family-friendly entertainment to Tehtaan Kenttä.

Nordic Fotoball News 17 April @ 07:11 AM EST

As this opening round of Veikkausliiga has been decimated by pitch related postponements, this preview is dedicated to the two men who have actually done quite a lot to get playable pitches in Finland. Of Citi, UConn and the USWNT

JordanCornblog 11 March @ 05:40 AM EST
Okay, of that group, which one(s) would you put your money on? Citi had a good day and the market bounced ... meanwhile, Newsweek has put out a great piece outlining the warring amongst the rich - a greed-fed battle they dub "the war between the estates." In the past two years, since the market peaked, investors [. Click to continue reading...

Icy Friday Update

JordanCornblog 12 December @ 12:53 PM EST
Well, after slip-sliding down the driveway and dodging the downed trees and getting to the credit union and the bank and then to work, it turned out that we were closing.  I made a few calls, got a couple of things done (whatever could be done sans network and internet connections) and headed on home [. Still Soaring … So Some Sundry Soccer Stuff … Sorry (non)Soccer Surfers and Smatterers!

JordanCornblog 13 August @ 06:27 AM EST
Wow, wow, wow. Even the Phillies' loss has not dampened my amazement and feeling of great good fortune. The USWNT is through to the quarterfinals (not too surprising) and has won their group (pretty darn surprising) and is starting to score some goals (excellent news). To date, five different people have scored, [. Click to continue reading...

A Little Bit of Everything Today

JordanCornblog 12 July @ 06:25 AM EST
I've been checking out the political scene a little bit this morning and come upon the usual fare from the usual culprits. We've got McCain calling Social Security a disgrace and straight-talking it right of existence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3RnHR9Dxmo Then we've got the White House continuing its stonewalling about Sphere: Related ContentSHARETHIS.
