Last night, Canada wrapped up its group stage matches at the Gold Cup in Miami, Florida. A 2-2 draw against Costa Rica gave the Canucks top spot in Group A, after two previous victories over Jamaica and El Salvador.

For the past few days I have had that damn phrase "what if" running thru my head. What if Stephen Hart kept the reins after the 2007 Gold Cup? What if that whole Dale Mitchell thing was just a bad dream?

I cannot see how the CSA can deny the man the top job. With Canada's 1-0 win over El Salvador tonight, Hart has strung together 4 wins for the nats.

Stephen Hart has named his 30-man preliminary squad ahead of the tournament, and included are Dwayne De Rosario, Adrian Serioux, Nana Attakora, Kevin Harmse, and Ali Gerba. Mitchell was promoted from the national U-20 side and had been at the head of the senior team from 22 months. I have always said that Dale Mitchell should be given the full qualification cycle.
