The Seattle Sounders vs Houston Dynamo playoffs got the MLS playoffs to a raucous start with
their edge of the seat performances even it ended in a goalless draw. Seattle also boasts the
highest home attendances in the MLS. It all looks promising.
Except as this article points out, there is enough deadwood in the MLS.

Watch Jon Stewart skewer the senators who voted against the Franken Rape Amendment;
"I guess it's an efficiency thing. You don't want to waste tax-payer money giving it to someone who
advises fake prostitutes how to commit imaginary crimes (like ACORN), you want to give it to
Halliburton because they're committing real gang rape.

Last year, Tim tried valiantly to chronicle the downfall, but gave up a week in. He hadn't yet
even gotten to this one, but I don't know if any of them hold a candle to this one, Ode To A Koala
Bear.
Yes, you read that correctly. Ode To A Koala Bear. Proceed with caution.
What's even scarier is that this piece of crap is the B-side to his hit duet with Michael
Jackson, Say Say Say.

Three hour traffic jams? "Cocksuckers from Massapequa?" The conjoined twin of New Jersey? "No
homos?" Yep, that's my home.
One thing the Senator got wrong, though.

So what's happening today?
First off, I see that Obama gave his commencement speech at Arizona State. What a strange
decision on their part, to not award him the degree and what a gracious response from POTUS!
Jon Stewart had an excellent piece on The Daily Show about ASU and their decision to diss the
president.

While I was away, a friend told me about this story concerning football 'shock jock' Steven Cohen
and his foolish comments regarding the Hillsborough tragedy.
I'm not a Liverpool fan. But I can certainly sympathize with their anger regarding his
comments.
So what happened?

EPL Talk 21 April @ 06:43 AM EST
On Monday's episode of the World Soccer Daily show, radio co-host Steven Cohen failed
to apologize to Liverpool supporters regarding the inaccurate statements he made about their role
in the Hillsborough Disaster that occurred on April 15, 1989.
The inaccurate statements made by Cohen on his April 13, 2009 episode of World Soccer
Dailywere that:
- Ticketless Liverpool supporters were the root cause of the Hillsborough Disaster,
- 6-8,000 ticketless Liverpool supporters showed up outside Hillsborough, and
- Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium was used week-in week-out without incident.

Yup, after all was said and done for week 4 on the WPS, who should top the power rankings but
our own Breakers. Rightly so, I'd add, IMVVHO! Next up for the Breakers, the hungry Chicago Red
Stars, who played Sky Blue to a 0-0 draw in the televised game yesterday. The LA Sol beat FC Gold
Pride 1-0 on the strength of Marta's third goal of the season.

Happy Saturday morning ... as the clouds roll in, bringing some much needed rain to these
parts. I went for a run yesterday after work and jogging by the fire house, noticed the sign
saying that the fire danger was "extreme."Â (Breathed a small sigh of relief that I wasn't
lounging by the chiminea, endangering the neighborhood without realizing!

The beauty of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report is that they watch Fox News so that I don't
have to. A few weeks ago, Colbert did the following segment about the use of Ayn Rand's 1957 novel
Atlas Shrugged as a talking point among conservative pundits. If you didn't see it, here it is.
The Colbert Report Mon Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c The Word Rand Illusion colbertnation.

I admit that Stewart gushes a little bit long at the end, but I can't say, given the
opportunity, I would have kept my composure any better.

Larry David has said that nothing makes him laugh more than people getting up in his face and
calling him the vilest of names. With this clip, Jon Stewart has just beaten David at his own
game. So watch this twice, the first for the whole thing, and the second for Jon Stewart's
reactions, which even when he loses it bring the bit to a whole new realm of genius.

There's lots to be said for symmetry! Indeed, back in '80, the first time the Phillies won it
all, yours truly was about to turn 28 ... and now here we are 28 years later! Yeah,
symmetry! :) On a chilly night in Philly, they did it again! That training Scene from
