A dejeted looking Souza and Marcos as Náutico thrash the leaders 3-0

Despite a shock 3-0 loss at strugglers Náutico, Palmeiras remain five points clear at the top of the Brasileiro with nine games to go. As usual when the Palestra Itália outfit slip up, none of their main rivals were able to take advantage as no one in the top five managed to win.

The 24th round of Campeonato Brasileiro was all Sao Paulo's.

Sao Paulo received the surprisingly good side of Avai at Morumbi. In the first-half, Avai made things difficult for Sao Paulo, as the home team offered loose defensive action in the midfield. In the second-half, however, Sao Paulo decided to suffocate the visitors.

Palmeiras went down 3-2 away to Vitória but second-placed Internacional failed to take advantage by losing by the same score at home to Cruzeiro.

Brasileiro: Sao Paulo Joins the Top 4; Corinthians Falling

The 18th round of Campeonato Brasileiro saw a club very used to the top 4 reach the group for the first time in 2009. Sao Paulo struck its 5th victory in a row by beating 3-1 Goias, the club who sat in second. Sao Paulo reached a series of 7 defeatless matches (6 victories, 1 draw), and watched another good journey by Hernanes, Dagoberto, Miranda and Jorge Wagner (who scored the second goal).

Inter threw away a two goal lead as São Paulo came back to earn a 2-2 draw at the Beira-Rio last night.
Alecsandro who was recalled to an Inter side which saw both Taison and D'Alessandro dropped, scored twice in the first half to give Inter a healthy advantage.

Corinthians' 2-0 win the estádio Morumbi was more than enough to see Mano Menezes' team into the finals where they will face Santos.

The Parque São Jorge outfit arrived needing just a draw to go through but second-half goals from Douglas and Ronaldo gave Corinthians a deserved win against a São Paulo side bereft of creativity and fighting spirit.

Two goals from frontman, Borges, rescued São Paulo from defeat in the Libertadores vs Uruguay's Defensor.

The homeside were trailing at home in the Morumbi after keeper Rogério Ceni added another hilarious gaff to his catalogue of school boy errors when he completely misjudged Diego de Souza's effort and stepped back into his own net with the ball.
