Arshavin Who?

I'm counting on you

Well, the European Championship version 2012 got underway last night and it was a decent night of football. In some ways it was like watching Arsenal. There were despair, joy and then despair again. Wojciech Szczesny, Andrey Arshavin and Tomas Rosicky all played to that tune respectively.

Arsenal might want to think twice about letting Arshavin go

Arsenal outcast Andrey Arshavin spearheaded the Russian attack as they took the Czech Republic apart. In the first half he was instrumental in all of Russia's best play, including setting up their second goal. He also should have had a penalty minutes later but English referee Howard Webb waved it away.

I guess the reason there are so many ridiculous Arsenal rumours around at the moment is because of the the dreaded interlull giving everyone very little to talk about at the moment, but surely one of the most unlikely transfer rumours had to be the one that said the Chelsea keeper Petr Cech could be moving to the Emirates this summer to take over as Number One.

Hosannah! Dutch scientific journalist Carl Koppeschaar has finally succeeded in his quest to see an asteroid renamed in honour of Holland legend Johann Cruyff.

The asteroid was originally named '14282′ when it was discovered by Dutch astrologists back in the 1960s but now, thanks to Koppeschaar's fine work, the completely inconsequential piece of space rock will be forever known as 'Cruijff'.
