The Philadelphia Union are finalizing a deal with Panamanian international Gavilan Gabriel
Gomez, according to a report by Presna.com. MLS Rumors first spotted the story earlier today and
pointed out that Gomez has a history of success against Panamanian CONCACAF rivals.
The 27-year-old has spent much of his career with an inability to become settled in nearly every
city Gomez has attempted to play.

Liverpool are rumoured to be interested in Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan as they look to
strengthen their team in order to pursue European football.
Fellow Scot Kenny Dalglish is thought to hold the 21-year-old in high regard and sees him as the
future of the national side, and a bid could be made in January however Dalglish will need
reassurances over Bannan's off field situation as he was recently arrested for drink driving.
Kenny Miller marks his 58th Scotland appearance with a wonder goal in last nights friendly in

Scotland laboured to a 2-1 win over Cyprus in Larnaca, but the goals oh, the goals. Kenny Miller
got the ball rolling with a wonderful opener, plucking Christophe Berra's arching ball from the
ether and letting rip with a looping 20-yard shot into the far corner in the same fell swoop.

Ah. The nerves are a-jangling.
Scotland on the road again. At stake a place in Euro 2012, a boozed up tour of Poland and Ukraine
with all the fun and futile expectation that goes with a major championship.
And then we wake up.
Scotland aren't in the play offs.
The good people at Scottish Football Forums were kind enough to have me on their podcast this

Jonathan Spector and Birmingham snatched a late win in Brugge while Jermaine Jones and Schalke
easily took all three points in Cyprus as the Europa League group stage reached its halfway point.
For the Euro 2012 qualifiers Denmark had to defeat Cyprus, and the match was virtually over after
25 minutes, with Denmark winning 4-0. It ended 4-1, but Denmark did what they had to do, and will
now be looking towards a group final against Portugal in Copenhagen next Tuesday. Denmark needs to
win to win the group though, after Portugal managed a too difficult 5-3 win over Iceland in Lisbon.

England became the seventh team to qualify for EURO 2012 on Friday on a night when Russia and
Greece took huge steps towards joining them and the likes of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina
ensured top-two finishes.
Last month holders Spain and former European champions Italy, the Netherlands and Germany
ensured their finals berths alongside co-hosts Poland and Ukraine, and to that number can be added
England after their 2-2 draw in Montenegro settled Group G.
Liverpool's current problems have been compounded by the news Daniel Agger will be out for up to a
month with a fractured rib.
The cultured defender was substituted before half-time in Sunday's 4-0 defeat against Tottenham
following a heavy fall.
For all his talent, Agger seems to have been dogged by injuries during his time at Anfield, and now
faces a fresh setback having earned a place in Kenny Dalglish's team.

Portugal beat Cyprus 4 - 0 in their Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday night. C Ron had to put up
with some heckling from Cyprus fans.To his credit he scored two goals. On the other hand to his
discredit he went down in the penalty area with minimal contact.
I didn't know what to expect after the build up to this CRUCIAL Euro 2012 Qualifier against
Cyprus. I also can't remember a more distracting week for the Sellecao. Meireles' injury doubts and
transfer bonanza, Postiga's sudden transfer, and of course the Carvalho drama. Who knows where the

The final day of group play was played in both the Algarve Cup and Cyprus Cup on March 7 and
placements matches were set. The USA and Iceland will play for the title on March 9 at 12 pm
ET.
In Group A, Norway defeated Japan with a score of 1-0, while the US dominated Finland and
winning 4-0.
The Algarve Cup continued today with the second day of group play. Six matches were played
across the southern region of Portugal and we learned a little bit about what the championship
match will look like.
Day 2 of the Algarve Cup started off with Japan crushing Finland with 5 goals. Shinobu Ohno
kicked things for Japan with her goal in the 16th minute of the match.
I didn´t get a chance to see this game because I had to work (some of us have to do that kind
of thing), but I thought I would give it a quick once over so that we can all move on. It was the
second game of the glorious 2011 Cyprus Cup and the final as well.
Our starting line-up was as follows:
Isaksson,
Lustig, Granqvist, Majstorovic, Safari
A.
Sweden took part in the 2011 Cyprus Cup. Never heard of it before? Not many had. In any case the
somewhat odd and demanding tournament format meant that national coach Erik Hamren had to take out
a squad with 33 players (should have been 34 but Albin Ekdal from Bologna had to withdraw because
of injury).

The U.S. team will return to the southern coast of Portugal once again for the Algarve Cup and
U.S. WNT head coach Pia Sundhage has selected 24 players for one of the best trips the team makes.
Why is it a great trip? Great training, great games, great food, great country, great area...and if
they're lucky, great weather.

Conor Doyle was born and raised in Texas, and just finished a training camp with the U.S.

"A new study of European club football shows stars are playing on in top-flight leagues for
longer and that the average height and speed of players has increased, reports the Sun.
The survey of more than 13,000 players at 534 clubs across 36 leagues by the Swiss-based
Professional Football Players Observatory also shows nearly half of players have played outside
their home nation in their career.
