Battle for Los Angeles - LIVE not really

Dan Loney Says It All 01 November @ 06:22 PM EST
Well, I'm at home for reasons that would bore the hell out of you, might as well fake liveblog it.
Preceding program - Who Killed the USFL? Fascinating. Probably not what an MLS fan wants to see.
Wow, a sellout! I mean, David Beckham. Not attendance. I talk a lot about how illegitimate Chivas USA is, how bad they are for MLS, how bad they are for soccer, and what a great day it will be when they finally dry up and blow away. Click to continue reading...

MLS Cup - the Comedy Options

Center Holds It 29 October @ 12:28 PM EST
Salt Lake v. Chivas USA
Salt Lake OWES the Eastern Conference. And oh by the way, they've been playing better than anyone actually in the Eastern Conference. They didn't back in to the playoffs either, like last year's Western Conference champs. This isn't out of the realm of possibility. Click to continue reading...

Men's College Soccer RPI: Wake on top, Akron third

Soccer By Ives 28 October @ 01:00 PM EST

The men's college soccer season is nearing the postseason, and with it comes the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). In the second installment, released earlier this week, Akron found itself in ranked third despite their outstanding 15-0 record. Wake Forest and UCLA sit ahead of the Zips, who are certainly punished for playing weaker opponents in the Mid-American Conference.

MLS Awards Tracker 2009 - Hater of the Year

Dan Loney Says It All 19 October @ 02:15 PM EST
Move over, Silky Johnson:
I'm going for Hater of the Year. And I don't care how many five-year-old-plus jokes I have to reference to get there.
Okay, the Western Conference race this year. I don't know who's actually going to win - probably Houston, but LA holds every tiebreaker, and CUSA has a game in hand, and I think Seattle still has a shot. Click to continue reading...

US U-20 team: "Stay in school"

Dan Loney Says It All 29 September @ 02:57 PM EST
Talking with Josh over at thecup.us about the U-20 World Cup, and how many freaking college kids the US is fielding. Here's a comparison of club affiliations of a few teams in the tournament. Spoiler on today's game at the bottom.
GERMANY:
Goalkeepers: Manchester United, Hamburg, Bremen. Click to continue reading...

More Table Talk, or, If Sacha Ran the Zoo

Dan Loney Says It All 21 September @ 04:52 PM EST
Sacha Kljestan did the impossible over the weekend. He got me to cheer for Chivas USA making the playoffs. Hell, I hope they win MLS Cup now.
Wait! I can explain!
Sorry, another Rocky Horror reference. I should stop that.
In the rapid-fire interview FSC does, "Six Impossible Questions Before Halftime," Sacha Kljestan was asked, "What would you do if you were commissioner for a day? Click to continue reading...

Crowning Moment of Awesome

Dan Loney Says It All 31 August @ 01:28 PM EST
Need to start off with an apology. It turns out my strident recommendation of the Sounders-Reds game turned out about as well as the time I did a Google search for erotica about Snuffy the Pedestrian.*
Anyway, let's talk about a term from TV Tropes called the Crowning Moment of Awesome.
No, this isn't about David Beckham. Click to continue reading...

Major League Harrison Bergeron

Dan Loney Says It All 02 June @ 07:20 PM EST
Title's not a Red Bulls stadium reference.
So over the past week, #1 in the East defeated #1 in the West. However you feel about the actual result, I think we can all agree that Chicago and Chivas USA were pretty much equal. Not a lot of daylight between them. Let's say for the sake of argument Chicago's a little better. Click to continue reading...

Updated Remaining Schedules and Other Madness

WVHooligan 01 October @ 07:36 PM EST
Lots of people have been talking up the Rico Clark moment from yesterday's Dallas-Houston game. Which will really have some implications on the final couple games of the seasons for both teams. Some people were outraged by it and others flat out loved the fact that Rico tried to boot Ruiz to section 108 of [...] Click to continue reading...

Updated Remaining Schedules

WVHooligan 26 September @ 10:29 AM EST
When news is slow it is always a time to look at the schedules for the billionth time and break them down even more than before. Right? Right...so heres to it: Chicago Fire (4 games) @ CUSA (9/29); NE (10/6); @ DCU (10/13); LA (10/21) The end is not near for the Fire, two points in last week's [...] Click to continue reading...

A Look at the Schedules

WVHooligan 19 September @ 08:55 AM EST
I figure now is as good of a time as ever to throw out every MLS club's remaining schedule. With most clubs around the five to six games left mark, it makes sense to break down what everyone has left. Some naturally have a little more than others (LA), while some only have a few [...] Click to continue reading...
