Chelsea 5-4 Manchester United Capital One Cup 31st October 2012
After last night's goalfest at the Madejski, Chelsea and Man Utd, fresh from the weekend's controversial clash, produced another fabulous cup tie, with just the nine goals this time.
Much has been spoken and written about Liverpool's wafer thin striker line up for the current
season. Luis Suarez has been particularly wasteful in front of the goal and Fabio Borini hasn't
shown any resourcefulness either. To add to their compounding woes, their pony-tailed striker Andy
Carroll has moved to West Ham on loan (with Big Sam at the helm, it's a match made in heaven).

It appears the Revolution will welcome a new face for training this week.
Harrisburg City Islanders (USL-PRO) defender Bilal Duckett, who played for Vancouver in 2011,
will train with the Revolution this week according to a report from Pennlive.
On a dreary, wet evening that kept all but 820 people from the stands at Hershey Park Stadium,
Harrisburg City Islanders were full value for their 3-2 victory over the visiting Philadelphia
Union. In a match with added intrigue due to the affiliates upcoming US Open Cup tie at PPL Park on
Tuesday, June 26, the match offered both sets of players the opportunity to size up their opponent
in this midweek friendly.
In case you missed it, Lionard Pajoy was given a one-game suspension for his foul against Joao
Plata in the loss to Toronto. So I guess we'll finally see that Mwanga Martinez partnership up top
when DC United come to town on June 16?
If the Union defeat DC United in the fourth round of the US Open Cup on Tuesday night, they will
host the winner of New York Red Bulls/Harrisburg City Islanders on Tuesday, June 26 in the
quarterfinals.
Manchester United have surpassed Barcelona's £125m world record shirt sponsorship deal with the
Qatar Foundation by striking a seven-year shirt agreement with Chevrolet worth in excess of
£25m-a-year.
United, whose current £20m-a-year shirt deal with the American insurance giant Aon still has
two seasons left to run, will begin their partnership with Chevrolet at the start of the 2014-15
campaign.
Fabrice Muamba may never play again for Bolton or the England set-up, but his triumphant
return to the Reebok Stadium last night was something out of a fairytale.
When he collapsed with a cardiac arrest on the field during the Tottenham v Bolton F.A. Cup tie on
the 17th March, a whole nation feared the worst.
Kenny Dalglish is set to make a late decision over his team selection when Liverpool travel to
Blackburn for their second game in four days on tonight.
The boss who has no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Ewood Park thinks most teams will
be in a similar position of having to utilize their squad during the Easter fixtures.
Since Man Utd lost to Blackburn and Newcastle, things have changed...
We have previously blogged that Peter Walton, in the last 22 matches where he has refereed City or
United, has produced 0 City victories and 0 United defeats, but there are two (possibly three)
other PGMOB referees with a marked bias in decision making in favour of the Old Trafford club -
Chris Foy, Howard Webb and Anthony Taylor are the men in question.
Mere moments after clearing his keeper's line to save a goal, Birmingham right back Jonathan
Spector worked a nice combo to level their League Cup tie at Coventry at 2-2 near halftime. The clip
may take a while, we'll see...- Greg Seltzer
Before most fans had ever heard of Massimo Luongo, his first appearance in the Spurs spotlight
was to miss the vital penalty in our Carling Cup tie with Stoke last season. With apologies for
even mentioning that, it's pleasing to report that the player's reputation enhanced throughout the
remainder of the campaign.
Mike Williamson came in for the injured Steven Taylor in December and has fully played his part
in Newcastle's resurgence this season. Mike Williamson challenges Pablo Zabaleta on Sunday Mike
was a little rusty when he came back into the side, which was to be expected after being injured
in the Carling Cup tie at Scunthorpe United last August, but he quickly regained form and [.
Mike Williamson made his comeback in the 2-0 win at the Reebok Stadium back on Boxing Day,
December 26th, and has been an ever -present in the Newcastle side since then. Mike Williamson
in action at Swansea Mike came back from the ankle injury he picked up at the beginning of the
season in the Carling Cup tie at Scunthorpe United on August 25th, [.
Reds' defender Ryan Stone leveled it at the half hour mark to help R.I. earn a point against the
New York Athletic Club on Saturday at Cranston Stadium.
Stone's 30th minute strike answered a Quentin Grigsby goal in the 25th minute, but the
scoreboard wouldn't budge for the final hour of play.

By virtue of its first-place divisional finish in 2011, it is believed that MPS Portland Phoenix
will be the first club from Maine to participate in U.
Many eyebrows were raised when Blackburn's Ryan Nelsen joined Spurs on the final day of the
January transfer window and with an already ageing and / or injury prone central defence it was
hardly the acquisition to appease a section of Tottenham fans who were looking at a Vertonghen
style signing.
The big team news from yesterday's press conference was that Aaron Lennon is definitely ruled
out of this evening's sixth round cup tie while Emmanuel Adebayor is an additional doubt with a
hamstring strain. There is a juggling of priorities to be done here and if there is any concern
over Ade then maybe he should be sitting this one out.
Tottenham Hotspur are on their way to Wembley again for the FA Cup semi-Final against Chelsea
after battling past an inspired Adam Bogdan Bolton side on an emotional night at the Lane.
The night started with  both sets of players warming up in T-shirts which read "Uniting for
Fabrice" on the front and "thank you for your support for Fabrice" on the back.
Strong minds and hearts of stone took Spurs to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and showed that we
are well set for the run-in. Although Tottenham made and missed countless chances, we were
consistently inventive and resolute in our determination to win this match. Ironically the
breakthrough goal finally came not from one of any number of scintillating moves but from a set
piece and a centre back.

Liverpool will welcome Everton to Anfield on the back of three successive league defeats leading
the skipper to insist it's time for the players to stand up and be counted.
"The players need to take responsibility for where we are in the league," Gerrard said.
"It's just not good enough for a club like us to be there.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Stevenage  Wednesday 7th March 2012 ,7.30pm kick off, White Hart
Lane, ESPN &ESPN HD
Given what a fantastic season Spurs are having, it puzzles me that I am pleased we have a game
tonight. Â After the 2, hopefully not too damaging defeats we have just suffered, it will be good
to get straight back into action and blow the cobwebs away as such.

1. "A real Keystone Cops moment" We're starting with a real pet hate here. Has
anyone actually seen this movie or even so much as heard it referred to outside of the MotD studio?
Is it anything like Beverley Hills Ninja?
Hic! Henry Norris is the rather squiffy football correspondent of the Bugle
newspaper and an ardent Arsenal supporter to boot. Each week he'll join us here at
arsenalinsider.com to bring you his forthright views on all things AFC...please be advised, he hits
the bottle early!
That, basically, is the backstory to a game that pitches the 14 times winners against a team that
have lost on their five previous visits to the Scottish League Cup final.
This season Kilmarnock have blown hot and cold as their manager has blown mildly entertaining hot
air.
