This week maybe World Cup Qualifier week but for the good people of Bangladesh there is a chance to
see Lionel Messi and his Bangladesh team strut their stuff in a friendly against Nigeria in the
capital city, Dhaka.
The Argentine side will fly into Dhaka on the national airline, Bangladesh Biman, which will be an
eye opener in itself.
Indian Football News Anil Kumar and Sabeeth in World Cup Qualifier probables list -

Musli Power X-tra Viva Kerala's attacking duo Anil Kumar PK and Sabeeth CS are included in the 42
member probables list for the Indian national football team to play the 2014 FIFA World Cup
qualifying match against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in July.
It was a puddle that the Portland Phoenix simply could not paddle out of.
After sinking into a 3-0 hole, the Phoenix scored twice in the final 10 minutes butÂ
ultimately fell short 3-2 to the Brooklyn Italians (PSL) in a rain-soaked U.S. Open Cup
qualifier at Deering High School in Portland, Maine.
I know that it is too much to ask for a team to win every game, but is it too much to ask for
the team to play smart and with heart? As a dedicated fan I want my team, including the coach, to
come into each game and play to the best of their ability. And this is where the Wizards have let
me down.
During today's expansion draft I just about thought that Sporting KC would get out of the draft
without losing a player. Montreal made 9 picks and a Sporting KC player had not been selected. Then
with the 10th and final pick the Impact ripped the hearts out of many Sporting KC fans by selecting
Seth Sinovic.
The New England Revolution survived today's MLS Expansion Draft unscathed, but waived three
players after the Draft ended. Rookies Alan Koger, Andrew Sousa and Otto Loewy were waived by the
team and went unselected in this afternoon's Waiver Draft.
None of the three rookies featured in any MLS action, but played regularly for the Revolution
Reserves and in U.
This week's From the Byline to the Back Post is up for your listening pleasure. This week Thad and
I discuss the New York, LA, and New England Open Cup qualifier. We talk about the Teal Bunbury
rumors, the Gold Cup call ups and their potential impact on the roster, and the job security for
Peter Vermes.
Sporting KC's opponent for the conference final on Sunday has been decided. The Houston Dynamo
defeated the Philadelphia Union 1-0 tonight in Houston to win their series 3-1 on aggregate. The
Dynamo now travel to KC to play on Sunday against KC. The winner will earn a trip to MLS Cup and a
birth in next year's CONCACAF Champion's League.
Basically for the entire game tonight, it seemed that Sporting KC never took it out of first gear
as they took care of the Chicago Fire PDL 3-0 tonight out at LiveSTRONG Sporting Park. From the
start KC came out and dictated the early tempo. In the 3rd minute, Teal Bunbury gave KC the only
goal they'd need and to an extent killed the game.
Another month of the season is in the books for Sporting KC. In the month of May, KC went 0-2-1 in
league play, and added a win against New England in the US Open Cup qualifier. KC scored 2 league
goals in the 3 games, with Ryan Smith and an Omar Gonzalez own goal accounting for those goals. CJ
Sapong and Chance Myers added a brace in the Open Cup game, with Aurelien Collin adding a goal as
well.
Another week of former Wizards updates. A day late after the Sporting KC home game last night. The
European season is winding down, and another former Wizard has appeared. Diego Walsh has apparently
signed with the Charleston Battery, meaning there are 3 former Wizards playing in Charleston as he
joins Stephen Armstrong and John Wilson.
With the announcement of two high-profile exhibition matches, Reading United provided another
example of its expanding national reputation.
Reading is set to play the United States Under-17 National Team on May 22, followed by the New
York Cosmo's Under-23 team two months later. The Harrisburg City Islanders and Philadelphia Union
are already scheduled to visit Exeter's Don Thomas Stadium in the coming weeks.
Sorry for the delay in getting this out, Blogger was having issues for much of the day yesterday
and even this morning and I was unable to get this post and the next one out yesterday.
On Wednesday I'd mentioned that it sounded like the US Open Cup qualifier against the New England
Revolution would have no audio or webcast of the game.
Some news from today that affects Sporting KC and their schedule a little bit. First, today was the
first concert announcement for Livestrong Sporting Park. That concert is Farm Aid, which will bring
the likes of Niel Young, Willie Nelson, and the Dave Matthews Band to LiSP this summer. The date of
the concert is August 13th.
Kansas City's US Open Cup qualifier on Wednesday, May 25th against the New England Revolution now
has a location. The game will be at the Blue Valley District Athletic Complex. KC has played at
BVDAC multiple times over their history, going 4-1 at the location, including 2-0 in KC's 2004 run
to the US Open Cup.
Sporting Kansas City announced today the date of their final US Open Cup qualifier against New
England. The Wizards will play the Revolution on May 25th, at a location still to be determined.
For KC the game comes between trips to Seattle and Colorado. For New England the game is between a
trip to San Jose and a home game against the Galaxy.
The location for the KC Athletics US Open Cup qualifier has changed. The game will not be at the
Swope Park training complex. Instead, the game is set to take place at Rockhurst University. The
game time has not changed, the Athletics will still play at 2pm against the Iowa Menace. For
reference, the field at Rockhurst University is a turf field.
I know it's thoroughly distressing, though tempered somewhat by how much easier it makes things
in a way, to lose to the Sporks last night in Aggieland in the US Open Cup qualifier, but at least
this Sunday the Houston Dynamo will get to face an opponent that's at least a little
shorthanded.
Tomorrow is a must win game for Kansas City, and not just because they need to start picking up
points in the league standings and pull themselves out of last place. There are many other reasons
why tomorrow is a must win. The game tomorrow against the Chicago Fire is probably the 4th most
important game of Sporting KC Wiz(ards) history after the 3 finals that KC has been to.
It may have only been a U.S. Open Cup qualifier, but Sporting Kansas City's 5-0 win in Overland
Park, Kan., over the New England Revolution on Wednesday was a very welcome sight for the sore
eyes of coach Peter Vermes, whose team has struggled to a 1-6-1 start on the road while waiting
for the June opening of Livestrong Sporting Park.
The San Jose Earthquakes saved their very best for the final moments of their U.S. Open Cup
match Tuesday night against the Portland Timbers, and made a little history in the process.
Ike Opara headed in a cross from Sam Cronin in the 120th minute of a match that went into two
extra-time sessions, giving the Quakes a 1-0 win and their first U.

Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson -- Getty ImagesBRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Chicago Fire head coach Carlos de
los Cobos typically stresses the importance of maintaining a similar lineup from game to game, as
any coach would prefer. But with back-to-back road losses and the team's worst defensive effort of
the season on Thursday, De los Cobos might have some important personnel decisions to make as the
Fire attempt to end their little skid when they host the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday at Toyota
Park.
Foul is suggesting that the Football Association of Malaysia could be facing sanctions following
their recent orld Cup Qualifier against Singapore. One of the breach of regulations? Fans standing
in the stairways!
Happens all the time in Indonesia. Fans clamber of fences, sit where they wanna sit, enter the
press box.
The Malaysian national team has been just about the only success story
in South East Asian football in recent years. The Under 23s won the Sea Games in 2009 and the full
team, featuring a good many of the triumphant squad, went on to win the ASEAN Football Federation
Cup in 2010.
They are the only ASEAN team still in with a shout of reaching the
Olympic Games in London next year, they are drawn againt Japan, Bahrain and Syria in the next
round, while later this month they play Singapore in a home and away World Cup qualifier.
Less than 24 hours after the first team pulled out a 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids, the Swope
Park Rangers picked up a 1-1 draw themselves. Like the first team game, Sporting KC was able to
control the possession and pace of the game from the start. Milos Stojcev had an early effort that
went off the bar and then set up an effort by CJ Sapong that Steward Ceus came up with a big kick
save.
