Perhaps it only fitting that I learned about it on Twitter, the preferred destination of choice
today for breaking sports news and story distribution.
The Great George Vecsey....
The great and incomparable New York Times sports reporter and event recorder George Vecsey

It's one of those mornings where you hold on to your morning cup of coffee and try to transition
your mind to the work ahead. Not the easiest task after the latest weekend in Seattle Sounder-land.
Two big let-downs this weekend. The first was a disappointing 0-0 tie against Chivas USA at the
C-Link.
I found myself in a McDonald's Saturday morning, drinking a cup of coffee after my 6 year old
son's soccer game. A battered copy of the day's Houston Chronicle was piled at the table next to
me. Bored, I thumbed to the sports section trying to find the pregame writeup of the upcoming home
match between the leaders of the Eastern Conference.
This morning I watched Manchester United match Blackburn in a match that both teams were happy
to tie. It closed the lid on a 19th title for the men of United, and it helped the men from Ewood
Park in their humble quest, too.
Right around the corner, my second cup of coffee would be paired with the FA Cup final, which
should be a fun ride, as well.
Charlie Sheen and Chuck Zito at Dunks; 'nuff said.I don't think I've ever used this forum to rant
on anything but football. I'm making an exception today.
Dunkin' Donuts drives me f$%king crazy. I start almost every day with an iced coffee, and usually
it's made by some kid, 18-22, whose idea of a regular coffee is a cup of cream with a dash of
coffee for color.
Hello there,
I seemed to have Vermaelened my Achilles playing football last night. It's seriously sore and
stiff this morning. Getting upstairs whilst also holding a cup of coffee was quite the feat, let me
tell you. Not to worry though, I should be back in action in 10 days or so, that's the going rate
for a minor Achilles problem, right?
On March 26, the Chicago Fire will take the field and a new home season will begin. Maybe you've
already set aside what you are going to bring to the game, what you are going to make at the
tailgate, or how you yourself will be celebrating the start of a brand new chapter. As you wake up
to make a cup of coffee, ride your bike, or do whatever you do in your morning routine on
Saturdays, remember that four years ago to the day another Chicago Fire fan was doing the very same
thing.
Today we'd like to introduce you to the newest member of The Viper's Nest crew, Glenn Williams.

You often hear people use the turn of phrase ‘better than sex'.
On a day when yet another shit ton of snow fell on the greater New York area, the ice dam that was
the Red Bulls offseason finally began to break. Speaking with reporters ahead of the 2011
Superdraft (being held tomorrow in DC United's soon-to-be hometown of Baltimore), Red Bulls GM Erik
Solér confirmed that the club has in fact added English speedster Luke Rodgers and Norwegian
midfielder Jan Gunnar Solli to the roster for the upcoming season.
