Just this week, in a podcast we never got to post Managing Madrid's Gabe Lezra asked me a question:
"Imagine this: Barcelona wins, Real Madrid loses, the lead has been cut to 3. It's the morning of
December 11th – how are you feeling?" I no longer remember what answer I gave, but here I am
today in exactly the same question.
Another El Clasico is upon us Real Madrid hosts archrivals FC Barcelona at the majestic Santiago
Bernabeu for a Saturday night La Liga match (kickoff is at 10pmCET/9pmGMT/4pmEST).
This will be, remarkably, the 7th El Clasico of 2011: there were the four matches packed into 18
days last spring (two meetings in the Champions League semifinal, the Copa del Rey final, and their
2nd La Liga match of the season), plus there were two legs to the preseason Spanish Super Copa.
For the last year's Champions League quarterfinal, we speculated that Barcelona just may embody
the spirit of a high school full of vampires. We were pretty close in the comparison and the
prediction. Ultimately, despite solid Arsenal resistance, the Cules drove a stake through
their hearts.
Mourinho has plenty of reasons to be happy given how his Ramos-Pepe Central Defensive
Partnership has fared. So we're back to Binary Code scorelines once again. After goalfests in
the Champions League and against our La Liga rivals, we're back to clawing our way to victory
again. Not that I mind – as I am a believer that there is a need for the team to suffer on their
way to victory every now and then.

It's that time of year again. For the past 3 seasons, Atlético Madrid has left the Camp Nou
with a sack of goals. Will Lionel Messi terrorize Los Colchoneros defense again this
year?
Two of European football's giants face off tonight at the Camp Nou as Milan battle Barcelona in
Group H of the Champions League. The Spanish side will be hoping to put one of the competitions
most successful sides to the sword as the Rossoneri are only second in European Cup wins with
seven, only two behind Los Cules' rivals Real Madrid.
Now THAT's what a friendly's supposed to be like!. Instead of a lone insane fan willing to charge a
moving golf-cart, you get hoardes of fans putting a stop to the operations of a shopping mall as
they trail not pretty boy Cristiano Ronaldo... but Jose Mourinho (who supposedly insisted that
George Clooney would be the best man to play him in a biopic).
Villa celebrates goal in Champions League Final (Photo:Getty Images)
David Villa has had a pretty good year. In mid-May of last year Villa joined Barcelona from
Valencia for €40million. Then during the months of June and July he led Spain to their first ever
World Cup title in South Africa, ending the tournament as top scorer with five of La Furia Roja's
eight goals.

I was at Wembley with my brother and father, two long-time United supporters, and my mother who
supports Barcelona and wore her Lionel Messi jersey proudly. We found our seats only to realize
that our tickets were in the last section of the Manchester United supporters.
L' cules are out in force to support their beloved Barça against the England representative
Manchester United in today's UEFA Champions League 2010-2011 final. Two seasons ago the same clubs
met in Rome's Stadio Olimpico and Barcelona was victorious 2-0, will we see the same results today
or will Sir Alex's Red Devils get the one piece of silverware that has eluded him for.

This should have been posted last Friday but got lost in the shuffle. What do you think is going on
in Greasano's head as he looks to his left and sees six little cules pose for the Ballon d'Or dream
team of 2010? On the last La Liga Weekly podcast, A New Year And Copa del Rey Beginning there was
some discussion on David Villa not being part of the Barca wolf pack as he was officially.
Real Betis 3-1 Barcelona ( Jorge Molina*2, Arzu/ Lionel Messi) Copa Del Rey- January 19, 2011 Real
Betis became one of the few teams to get the better of Barcelona this season but their 3-1 win was
in vain as Los Cules progressed to the semifinals 6-3 on aggregate. Betis 1-0 FC Barcelona ( Molina

On the day the news broke, I was filled with unreasoning anger. If you asked me articulate why I
was so mad, I would have had trouble, which is really not very good going for someone trained to
make well reasoned arguments.
There's been a lot of link spilled on the topic already, whether in support of the Qatar Foundation
deal or in opposition to it.
