E' ufficiale.

'El Jardinero' may be gracing the pitch elsewhere next season. Julio Cruz has scored some important
goals for Inter since joining the club in 2003, but it appears he may finally be on his way this
summer, according to Calciomercato. The 34-year-old has quite often found himself in coach Jose
Mourinho's doghouse this season, gaining limited playing [.

There's been an award for an Argentine player in MLS, a bucket-full of goals for Argentines in
Italy, the captaincy of the national team bestowed upon Javier Mascherano in England,
another goal for Fernando Cavenaghi in France, and plenty of goals in Mexico too. The headline act
of the weekend, though, was in Spain: Gonzalo Higuaín continued [.

Here's what I found interesting after reading various calcio news sites today:
-First, we have another managerial change in Serie A. Chievo haven't won since the first week of
the season and manager Beppe Iachini has been sacked. Taking his place will be Domenico Di Carlo,
who was in charge of Parma until March of last season.

Well Jose Mourinho finally got his man with the signing of Ricardo Quaresma from Porto. This is a
great move for Inter Milan as they needed some younger players to add to their aging squad, and it
also give Mourinho a chance to put his own stamp on the squad. I was beginning to wonder when Inter
were going to make a really big move.

Brazil and Argentina convened for their first meeting of the qualifying campaign for the 2010 World
Cup in South Africa on Wednesday night, with Argentina aware that a win would take them back to
joint top of the table alongside Paraguay, after the Guaraní fell to a shock 4-2 defeat to
Bolivia in La Paz [.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for Argentine representatives against foreign opposition on Wednesday
night. The selección kicked off against Mexico in San Diego minutes after the final whistle
was blown to end Boca's Copa Libertadores campaign, and made Alfio Basile's experimental 3-4-1-2
look like the most natural system in the world as they blew [.

The first thing to do, of course, is remind everyone that nominations are open for the HEGS Award
for Best Argentine Football in a Foreign League. Email your chosen one to sam@hastaelgolsiempre.com
with 'HEGS Award' in the subject line (unless you already have, obviously). There were two major
triumphs for Argentine players in the weekend just [.

Inter had a chance to win the Scudetto for the third time running as well as defeat their bitter
rivals in the local derby but it seems that Milan's hunger for the last Champion's League spot was
greater. The first 60 minutes were pretty much all Milan, they attacked Inter furiously and Kaka'

Found a good clip (in terms of the highlights) for the match played yesterday where Inter faced off
with Juventus in the TIM cup quarter final. Inter ended up winning the match 3-2 to book a place in
the semi-finals against Lazio (5-4 winners on aggregate). It was Inter's 17 year old striker, Mario
Balotelli, that [.

Two transfers involving Argentine players are moving towards a definition at the moment, the more
solid-looking being Andrés D'Alessandro's transfer from Real Zaragoza in Spain to work under his
former manager Ramón DÃaz with San Lorenzo. Ezequiel Garay, the Racing Santander defender, could
be on his way to Barcelona - or Lyon, or Real Madrid.

Lionel Messi made a return to the starting lineup for Barcelona; Internazionale stumbled at the top
of Serie; Carlos Tevez helped take Manchester United through to the 6th round of the FA Cup, whilst
Javier Mascherano did likewise for Liverpool, where he may soon be joined by Pablo Aimar. Lionel
Scaloni, meanwhile, has already moved to [.

The publication of this editorial got pushed back by a few days because I was ill earlier in the

It's been a mixed pre-Christmas weekend for Argentine footballers in Europe. On the good side, we
had Gabriel Heinze and Fernando Gago included in the Real Madrid side who beat Barcelona 1-0 in the
Camp Nou, and the irony of two ex-River Plate players, Julio Cruz and Esteban Cambiasso, scoring to
down the side who [.

A quick post to summarise the result between Inter and Milan in the classic Milan derby. The game
ended 2-1 in Inter's favour with goals from Julio Cruz and Cambiasso on either side of half-time.
Adrea Pirlo opened the scoring to put Milan up 1-0 from a trademark free-kick just outside the box
around 17 mins [.

With the top three tiers in Argentine football having broken up for the summer (speaking of which
the lower division results service will make a belated return tomorrow for Primeras C and D), the
main focus for Argentine fans this weekend was on their Europe-based players. In England, Carlos

Just a quick post with some video highlights of Inter defeating Atalanta on the weekend. Inter

One let-down on a weekend of generally good displays by Argentines in Europe, this one. On
Saturday, Carlos Tevez didn't have the best of days for Manchester United, who went down 1-0 at the

Inter were able to retain the top spot of serie A after defeating Napoli 2-1. This time it wasn't
Ibrahimovic grabbing a brace, it was in fact Cruz who put two away. One thanks to Ibrahimovic who
did the hard work to allow Cruz a simple tap in on 19 minutes. While the second goal was [...]
