“Worst Miss Ever!” – Except This Actually Might Be

The Offside 03 November @ 05:00 PM EST
YouTube videos (and blog posts, including some of mine) often come with hyperbolic titles. So when I see anything titled "Worst _____ Ever!", I immediately reach for my skeptical spectacles. However, the above YouTube video titled "Worst football miss ever!" made me put them down again. I'm not saying that it's categorically, definitely, no takesy-backsies the [. The Friendly Whine

Euro 2008 on World Cup Blog 31 October @ 05:41 AM EST

Wow, waking up just to see all those journalists crying on how Bilic (or Markovic rather) picks his friendlies ain't the best way to start the morning. But seriously though, the journalism in Croatia is rubbish. Like fast food. It's all around, lacks the attention & nutrition of a real meal, and in the end will leave you plunging the nearest available restroom.

Nothing Says Impending Derby Like ‘Police Protection’.

The Offside 27 October @ 12:56 PM EST
When a derby, a tried and true proper derby, comes rolling around the corner, the last thing you want as a fan is your team suffering through a dark spell. Top five things we learnt from the international weekend

Off the Post 12 October @ 10:11 AM EST
1. Even great defenders can forget how to defend Rio Ferdinand picked up from his shocker in the Manchester derby last month with another somewhat dubious display of decision-making as Robert Green became England's first dismissal of the Capello era. Internet intrigue

Spurs musings from JimmyG2 12 October @ 10:10 AM EST
The claim by Croatia that we threw the game against Ukraine because we would prefer them to qualify just doesn't stack up. It might explain why Ferdinand appeared to be asleep at the crucial moment, and why the referee initially went to send him off , but Capello keeping Heskey on and Green completing the move by bringing down Milevski is a conspiracy theory too far. Bolton 2: Croatia 2

Spurs musings from JimmyG2 04 October @ 05:09 AM EST
Now this is quite a difficult one. Is it: battling Spurs come from behind twice to salvage a point at Bolton? Or is it: Spurs fortunate to rescue a point after a poor display which reminds me of too many occasions when we have failed to step up, away from home, especially at Bolton? They scored before some of our defence had tied their laces, Ricardo Gardner running past three hesitant Click to continue reading...

How Seriously Should England Take the Ukraine Game?

England World Cup Blog 22 September @ 01:45 AM EST

I've deliberately avoided all the post World Cup qualification hooplah. Mostly because the usual questions: "Can we win it this time?" etc, make me want to stab myself in the leg with a pencil. And anyone who uses the phrase "Can England win it? Yes. Will they win it? No." should be reminded that
a) It's not clever or original if a thousand other people have already said it first, and
b) You deserve to be stabbed in the leg with a pencil.

Justice Prevails in Eduardo Saga

Arsenal striker Eduardo, who has recently been a frequent victim of jeering from rival fans around the nation, has finally been vindicated over a diving accusation that marred his reputation of a sincere and hardworking striker. The Croatia international, who was banned for an attempt to deceive the officials by going down without any contact during Arsenal's Champions League clash against Celtic last month, was exempted from blame on the grounds of a lack of clear evidence.
