74 killed and over hundreds were injured when politics mixed with football in violent fashion last
night in Port Said... I'm not quite sure what to say about this as it's one of the most insane
things I've ever seen, so below is what the Daily Mail wrote about the incident. After Al-Masry
beat Al-Ahly, [.
The name Mateo Kovacic has appeared in the rumour columns for a few months now but there is an
indication from the Croatian's club that Spurs are keen to tie up a deal for his services.
Kovacic is just 17 and currently playing as an attacking midfielder for Dinamo Zagreb. Having
broken into the first team in 2010 at the age of sixteen, he has gone on to establish himself as a
regular starter and one of the hottest young properties in Europe.

After months of stagnating, the U.S. men's national team is back on the rise in the FIFA
rankings, although barely.
The United States improved one spot to No. 33 in the latest rankings after having spent the last
three months at the No.
Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic is refusing to be distracted by reports that Liverpool are
considering a bid for him.
Jelavic, who joined the Glasgow side from Rapid Vienna in 2010, has been linked with a big money
move in January - with QPR just one Premier League club to have been credited with an interest.
I am sure like me, many of you were surprised when you saw the result of Wednesday's Champions
League match between French side Olympique Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia.
However, it is now emerging that Olympique Lyon's 7-1 drubbing of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions
League on Wednesday could have been as a result of a betting scandal.

We love taking nervous boys under our (pterodactyl-like) wings and er... offering consolation.
This is exactly what we were planning when we saw this photo of Yoann Gourcuff arriving in Croatia
for Lyon's crunch Champions League tie vs. Dinamo Zagreb. With the benefit of hindsight, we needn't
have bothered.

The 2012 EURO's are slowly approaching, and just yesterday the groups for the initial stages of the
tournament were drawn. Below are the resulting groups of the draw:
Group APoland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic
Group BNetherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal
Group CSpain, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Croatia
Group DUkraine, Sweden, France, England
As for just about every international tournament, a group of death naturally formed.
The draw for the 2012 European Championships were drawn today in Kiev in what was the most
boring and complicated draw I ever saw. Group D is definitely the Group of Death, with
Germany,Holland,Denmark and Portugal to fight it out for supremacy, While England's Group looks
easier than usual with Ukraine, Sweden and France in Group D, the Rep.
With co-hosts Poland and Ukraine placed in the first pot of the Euro 2012 draw, there was bound
to be at least one brutally-tough group in next summer's tournament.
Group B gets the distinction as being the Group of Death, as the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal
and Denmark will vie for two spots in the knockout round.

Following the completion of the Euro 2012 Qualifying Play-Offs, from which Portugal, Croatia,
Czech Republic and the Republic of Ireland all qualified this week, all sixteen teams that will be
participating in Poland and the Ukraine next June are now known.
The Play-Offs saw the eight runners up of the qualifying groups comepte for the four remaining
places at next year's tournament and the outcomes of all the games proved reasonably
predictable.

Nothin' left but the friendlies. Playoffs have ended, sadly for some tragically, really, since
none of the aggregates were even close and the lineup is set with a couple of surprises, like
Ireland and...no, just Ireland. The list of those who failed to RSVP is devoid of titanic names,
leaving us with a heavy battle royale to be had in Polkraine.

Why Spain game marks Capello's transformation from arch pragmatist into wild risk
taker
Fabio Capello is not an obvious risk-taker, not the sort you would associate with taking a punt.
A pragmatist, yes. A disciplinarian, certainly. A man who thinks he is always right,
undoubtedly.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Vedran Corluka has dismissed suggestions that vengeance for

Croatia qualified for that tournament in style almost four years ago, winning an unforgettable

On this week's predictions we look at three of the vital play-off games for the European
Championships, as well as a selection of World Cup 2014 qualifiers. You can listen to Damon and

All but four countries have booked their ticket to next summer's finals in Poland and Ukraine,
but the quality among the eight undecided sides have created some intriguing ties, with the
prospect of going on a run a la Greece always ever-present.
The play-off's two legs will be played on the 11th and 15th of the coming month, with the
following countries paired against each other in the final decisive battles of the qualifying
phase.
The draw for the Euro 2012 play-off matches pitted the Republic of Ireland against Estonia, Turkey
against Croatia, Portugal clashing against Bosnia and Herzegovina, while Czech Republic meet

While Emmanuel Adebayor remains a major doubt for Spurs ahead of this weekend's match at
Newcastle, there was more bad news today with reports that Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar both
picked up knocks while on duty for Croatia in the week.
Both are doubtful for this Sunday's game and while they weren't necessarily expected to play
from the start, the Spurs bench is starting to look a bit thin.
The draw for the European Championship qualifying playoffs took place on Thursday morning and no
country is happier with the results than Ireland.
The Irish, who missed out on the 2010 World Cup after facing the tough draw (and Thierry Henry
handball) of France, drew Estonia out of the eight-team pot, giving Ireland the easiest draw in the
pot.
