The most disappointing player award is, thankfully, less of a team-wide award than last year.

This season, unlike last season, doesn't provide the same slew of candidates for the Donnety Award, given to D.C. United's most disappointing player. For those who don't remember, the award is named for Matias Donnet, the Argentinian star midfielder who had played previously at Boca Juniors and Venezia before coming to D.

The rumor on Twitter is that South Korean left back Lee Ki-je has been offered a trial by D.C. United. Lee plays for Shimizu S-Pulse of the J-League, otherwise known as the team to whom D.C. United sold Dejan Jakovic after a frustrating run with the team.

Spanish defender Cristian Fernandez was absent from D.C. United's lineup in their loss on Saturday to the Seattle Sounders due to what head coach Ben Olsen called, "personal issues." But now it looks like he won't be returning.

He and the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract on Tuesday, making Fernandez a free agent and allowing him to return to his home country of Spain.
