The Twellman Brothers: Do NOT Bum a Ride From These Guys

The Offside Rules 11 November @ 04:03 PM EST
I just read this bit in the Boston Herald about how our Taylor and his brother (who knew there were two of 'em?) where in this crazy near-death experience in Chicago this week; the driver of a cab they were in had a heart attack as they approached an intersection and hit a wall. And just to make it all weirdski's, this isn't the first time the Twellman Brothers --which sounds like a C&W band-- have been in a crash & bang situation. Click to continue reading...

Innocent Victims

The Fake Sigi Schmid Blog 15 October @ 07:28 PM EST
From Dan:
The nature of sports being what it is, the greater outpouring of sympathy was for the one who survived ... but fan tributes aren't really equipped for innocent victims. A simple jersey number was enough for a very moving tribute for a recovering player, but a soccer game is an impossible context to show adequate respect for Ashley Roberta and her family's loss.

Wednesday's Daily: Down And Up

USSoccerPlayers 30 September @ 09:15 AM EST
With J Hutcherson -- Yesterday's shakeup in Under-20 World Cup Group C might not have been predictable, but it wasn't exactly shocking. At the age level tournaments, a wide swing isn't rare. It's also not distinct to Germany, the United States, Cameroon, and South Korea. For every unabashed crash out after making it this far, there's confirmation of the idea that very few teams walk through the group stage. Click to continue reading...

Brisbane 2 - Perth Glory 4

A seat at the A-League 24 September @ 06:32 PM EST
John has been sick. So he has asked me to update his blog.
There are two questions from this game:
1. were Perth prepared to cheat to win?
2. does Chris Beath have the skills to referee in the A-League.
Dad and I watched the replay on tv and it was pretty clear that the Roar, while making some bad defensive mistakes ( is Bob Malcolm good enough to play in the A-League), dominated the game. Click to continue reading...

Top 7 Goals of Wesley Sneijder

Serie A Talk 03 September @ 04:30 AM EST

Sneijder was evidently in The Zone back in his Ajax days. By comparison, his best-of reel from Real Madrid are closer in and more on the cheeky side. Yet this is an index of the quality in store for Internazionale.

At Inter now, Mourinho was looking for a trequartista, but Sneijder brings also a discerning nose for goal.
