The financial crisis at Rangers has moved to the next stage, with the club announcing they're
serving notice of intention for entering administration over its debt. Rangers are involved in a
court case over roughly $78 million they reportedly owe in taxes. "From my early days as chairman I
saw that administration was a very real option to enable the Club to address these challenges and
make a fresh start," Rangers chairman Craig Whyte said.
After spending yesterday not thinking about the England job, Harry Redknapp has now given it some
thought and decided that he is "flattered". Meanwhile, the rest of English football's great and
not-so-great have been falling over themselves to declare that they have no interest in the
vacancy. 1. Arsene Wenger "I have never really been [.
Redknapp's version of Usain Bolt's iconic celebration was lacking in many areas. In the aftermath of
the chaos that was February 9th 2012, no-one could discuss the position of Tottenham manager with
any certainty. Harry Redknapp, the current incumbent, began the day with the verdict of a court
case for tax evasion hanging over his head yet, come the day's completion, his immediate and medium
term future was the most speculated upon in all the land.
Here is my thinking:
1. Harry is battered and bruised after the court case, just look at the interview this morning
outside his home in Dorset. Think all the media pressure and the cushy job at Spuds, no doubt a
massive pay rise and more money for players to come from Levy will mean... thanks but no
thanks.
The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation had their office furniture, trophies, and other items
seized on Wednesday after failing to make a scheduled payment to the members of the 2006 World Cup
team. Those players won a court case requiring the TTFF to honor an agreement where the players
were promised half of T&T's '06 World Cup revenue.
I was amazed earlier today (wed) when the jury at Southwark Crown Court found Harry Rednapp
innocent of avoiding tax payments in an off-shore account in Monaco.
The Spurs Supremo had been under investigation for five years by the Inland Revenue concerning his
HBSC account in Monaco's tax haven.
Outside of Harry's court case, the issues surrounding John Terry and the England captaincy have
been firmly in the media spotlight this week and while the attention is currently on manager Fabio
Capello, two of Tottenham's England internationals could be set to profit from the affair.
Scott Parker emerged last season to command a regular place in the England side and since his
move to White Hart Lane, our outstanding midfielder must surely be one of the first names on
Capello's team sheet.
For the second time, Chelsea's John Terry has been stripped of the England captaincy. The
English Football Association confirmed that Terry was informed of the decision by FA chairman David
Bernstein in a phone call Friday morning.
Terry is due to stand trial in July over racial abuse allegations after an incident with QPR's
Anton Ferdinand and there has been mounting pressure within England to remove Terry as England's
captain ahead of this summer's Euro 2012 competition
The FA released a statement on their web site which read:
Following the decision to adjourn the court case against John Terry to July, The Football
Association confirm he will not captain the England team until the allegations against him are
resolved.

As you all know by now, John Terry has this morning been stripped of the England Captaincy once
again. The "Official statement" from the FA reads as follows:

"Say what now?"
The FA have just released the following statement:

The English FA have been forced to strip John Terry of the England captaincy after outcry over his
racism case being put back till after this Summer's Euro 2012 Finals in Poland and Ukraine with
many looking for the Chelsea defender to be stripped of even an
England Jersey
.
Tory MP Damian Collins who has campaigned for FIFA reform hit out saying:
"He is in a public position as England captain.
All eyes will be on the prematch handshake at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to see whether Rio
Ferdinand will shake the hand of the person accused of racially abusing his brother.
Rio is said to be furious at the way the FA is standing besides John Terry despite his impending
court case, while in contrast, he was banned for nine months but the FA for missing a drugs
test.

"ANTON!!! I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL NECK!!!"
It can't have escaped your attention that John Terry is due to stand trial on charges of racial
abuse for shouting 'you know what' at 'you know who' on July 9th, i.
After getting thru the anti-climax that was QPR, Chelsea have announced that John Terry will
miss the trip to the Liberty Stadium, coincidentally in line with the week his trial for racial
abuse commences. More, after the jump:
M.I.A.
In a late-night conversation with The Doc, we both agreed that John could profit from a stretch
of rest.
Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, has said in court that he believes he is being
victimised because of his cockney accent (an accent peculiar to those from London). The cockney
accent in British culture has long been associated with deviant behaviour, much like in New York an
Italian might be stereotyped as being part of the mafia simply on the basis of the person being
Italian.
It's been such a flat start to the week after Sunday's defeat which was hard to take, followed
by current Spurs headlines which are dominated by Harry's court case.
The season goes on however and at the club, Joe Jordan and Jermain Defoe are leading the voices
that are ‘taking the positives' out of Sunday's game.
Harry Redknapp's long awaited court case starts today and while it may not be right at this
stage to comment on the possible implications for Spurs, it could yet hamper any transfer activity
into White Hart Lane. Although as we've seen before, the manager doesn't necessarily have to be
present for any deals to be concluded, this could be seen as a sign to expect a quiet end to
January.
Who was it that said Fact is sometimes stranger than Fiction? In the case of Cruyff vs Ajax vs
the Board of Directors vs Louis van Gaal there was another court case... I'm telling you, when you
are an Ajax fan this is a nightmare!
When you are neutral you wonder [read more]
The ‘Redknapp for England' shouts have quietened down a little in recent weeks and undoubtedly
the manager's impending court case and his minor heart surgery have had their parts to play in
that. In addition, there have been suggestions that Fabio Capello could even stay on at Lancaster
Gate after next summer.
Here is what we don't need. In the summer the CONCACAF region was right in the midst of the
Mohammed Bin Hammam scandal after Chuck Blazer revealed a money for votes rigging scheme that
involved officials of the Caribbean Football Union receiving wads of cash from Bin Hammam for their
support to replace Sepp Blatter as FIFA president.

Earlier this week I received formal notification that Tottenham Hotspur PLC is proposing to
de-list its shares and become a private company again. As a shareholder, I've been kept fully
informed even though the postage on the thick wad of legalese cost twice as much as the value of my
holding. I have one share, literally a share holder, so that's very sweet of them, although as a
responsible shareholder I feel disappointed and concerned that the board have wasted this expense
on schmucks like me for whom it makes no difference.

After a fortnight of ridiculous palaver, Man City announced last night that Carlos Tevez had
been found guilty on five separate counts of breaching his contract on that fateful night in Munich
and duly fined the Argentinian striker four week's wages for the dubious crime of 'refusing to warm
up' against Bayern.
Would the real Sir Alex Ferguson please stand up? Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was

pleaded guilty to selling [.

On a serious level, and I mean deadly serious, I cannot believe that I am seeing Per Mertesacker
being criticized for his Arsenal performances.
The man has played less than a handful of games for the club and some people are writing him off
quicker than Mel Gibson's 2008 Maserati.
Ze German has played for his country at least 1000 times and has top-level experience in the

Bitch got served...a legal writ
Arsenal have won a court case in Spain which will force the owner of a hat shop in Seville to
change the name of her premises though, sadly, there aren't three points on offer for the
victory.
Focus being the key word right now as we are in a pivotal period for the club.
We know what happened last season and what we didn't achieve; now is the time to focus on our
future direction.
In order to do this, tough decisions will need to be made in the next few weeks.
Calling all Spurs fans!!
My Twittermate Norman Giller is writing a history of Tottenham managers. It is a book of two
halves, with the second section being filled by Spurs supporters, playing the manager and picking
their dream Tottenham team from when they first started supporting the club.
There was, perhaps, something inevitable that it would all come down to a ninety minute
shoot-out. That FC United of Manchester is in itself an extraordinary part of our football culture
is without doubt, but even the most optimistic of their supporters could scarcely have guessed at
the amount of drama that they have managed this season, from an FA Cup run that took in a last
minute win at Rochdale and a last minute penalty save at Brighton to a league season that saw them
end last year nearer to relegation than the play-off places, yet has ended up on the North Wales
coast on a Bank Holiday Monday, with 2,000 people packed inside Llanelian Road and hundreds more
perched atop a hill overlooking the ground.
Well, well, the fifth round of play is over in the Allsvenskan and we had two big things happen:
the champions lost their first game of the season and there was a scandal. Let me rephrase that:
there were two things that happened one major and the other while interesting, less important.
I will start with the scandal (obviously the big thing) first.
With the news that Jean-Marc Bosman, (the Belgian footballer whose court case changed football's
financial clout), is now out of work and living on benefits, I thought it would be a good
opportunity for us to look at potential free transfers this summer.
Miroslav Klose (Bayern Munich) – I know that we have big Andy and the tricky Suarez, but
all top clubs have 3 top class strikers fighting for a starting position so why wouldn't we take a
look at him?
‘Parliamentary privilege' is fascinating. It essentially means that members of parliament can
say what they like in parliament without fear of an action for defamation. And in such a context,
the prospect of Ken Bates appearing before the current parliamentary select committee on football
governance was enticing in the extreme.
After taking a day to digest the narrow F.A. Cup win over Crawley Town, the match showed some
clear deficiencies in the Manchester United side. Wes Brown's header was enough to put us through
to the quarter-finals of the competition but the performance can be classed as nothing short of
woeful.
Many of you here commented after the game about Bebe and Gabriel Obertan being the two worst
performers on the Old Trafford pitch, and I'm afraid I have to agree.
It hasn't been a very good couple of weeks for those that would seek to make us pay through the
nose to watch football on the television. The Karen Murphy court case, which was heard at the
European Court of Justice a couple of weeks ago, blew away the idea that pubs should be tied into
Sky's packages if they can buy cheaper elsewhere (at least until the next round of television
contracts, when it is expected that they will sold Europe-wide) and today the European Union stood
in defence of consumers again with the rejection of a claim by FIFA and UEFA that they should be
able to sell off the rights to some matches within tournaments.
